Yeah, we have a lot of cool breweries here in Québec and they almost all refer to our folklore or history for their beers, which makes trying them all even more pleasant :D Another cool one is Dieu du Ciel! (http://micro.dieuduciel.com/en/beers.php)

Most of our traditional legends were originaly made by the Church to scare the shit out of the settlers and make sure they didn't commit any "sins", like dancing after midnight or making pacts with the devil or whatever... Makes fun stories, but they get a bit redundant at some point.

Haha no, that's essentially why I'm doing my sober stint right now. I haven't quit entirely and I don't intend to drag it out for too long, I just need to take a break and get myself used to drinking more moderately. So I don't have to stop entirely someday.

I'm also broke and unemployed at the moment, so that helps. But as soon as that tax return comes I'm celebrating :drinking:

Liquid Cocaine shot (Rumplemintz, Jager, Goldschlager) which wouldn't have been bad if I liked Cinnamon flavored things , Mudslide which tasted like chocolate milk and was fucking delicious, Angry Orchard (Never had more than a sip before) which was fucking delicious, but shitty to try to get drunk off of and Budweiser Black Crown which was pretty damn good tasting.

I have not tried that actually, but I will now. I didn't know they made a coffee stout.

As far as how it compares to other coffee stouts in general, you get that bold coffee taste and then with the chipotle peppers you get a little kick at the end. Not too strong but noticeable, and I like that kick a lot. It's a strong beer too at 6.7% ABV.

Haha, yeah it does. Couldn't believe how good it was w/ all that booze. "Dangerously" delicious, in that it's very tasty, so it'd be easy to drink too much!

Yeah, beer snobs. I hope I never become like that. I playfully rip on people who drink cheap-ass swill, but that's the extent of my snobbery.

Tried 2 Weihenstephaner brews last night, the Original Munich Helles Lager and the Korbinian Dopplebock.

Was really disappointed with the Original, as I'm a huge fan of most Munich Lager's, but not this one. Bland and nothing special. The Korbinian was awesome though, one of my new favorites! Packed a good punch too, @ 7.4%.

Nice. I'm due to try the SA Cream Stout. I've heard nothing but good things about Victory Breweries. I just can't seem to find any in my neck of the woods.

I see Duvel staring at me a lot at a local store. Think it's about time I grab some.

Had a couple Baltimore exclusive (I think) beers at MDF ranging from the shitty (National Bohemian, Baltimore's answer to PBR) to mid-priced (Yeungling, cheapish lager that was sold at the fest) to the expensive (Balt Alt, some chocolatey ale). Also had some Lienenkugel's Summer Shandy at the fest.

Ubu sounds great.
Sumpin' Sumpin' has a 94 on Beeradvocate from both the community and the owners  but I'm not a huge fan of pale wheat ales, I may check it out sometime though.
Wow... there are such beers as Oyster stouts? That's rad.
That sunshine pils looks okay, the only pilsner I've really liked is Victory's prima pils. I had Oskar Blue's mama's little yella pils the other night in a growler, t'was decent. BTW how do bocks compare to pilsners? In general I'm not a huge fan of lagers but I don't base that opinion off of THAT much evidence.
That kristallweissbeer has a pretty fucking high rating on beeradvocate but... an unfiltered wheat ale? That sounds gross.

Yeah, the owners' ratings are odd in some cases, but I agree with them in this case. Weird thing is, if I didn't know Sumpin' was a pale wheat, I'd call it an IPA. Smell, taste, appearance, all look like an IPA. Damn good beer, and not too expensive, you should definitely try it.

Yeah, Oyster Stouts. That was my first one. It was very good, but didn't taste oyster or seafood essence at all.

I need to try Victory Pils, reviews are great. Tried a can of Mama's Little Yella a couple weeks ago, and found myself a bit disappointed. Not a bad pils, just a little bland for my taste.

Bocks are a lot different than pilseners. Not an expert by any means, but a bock is usually dack with lots of malt, sweet, and "roasty".

Yeah the kristallweissbeer didn't like me. Yeah, unreal rating on BA. Won't buy it again.

Incredibly smooth for how strong it is. Very refreshing too for its style.

Yep, Sumpin is quite refreshing for sure!

Haha, it's a damn good brew, the Torpedo. So much flavor. Have yet to have a Sierra Nevada I didn't like. Wish there were more variety packs. There are so many varieties, would be easier to try 6 at a time like a Sam Adams sampler than buying them all seperately.

The one thing that sucks about losing weight is that some of your favorite shirts will be too big on you. I remember when I had to get rid of my green Napalm death Nazi Punks fuck off shirt which is a shirt that i have had many great memories with. It was a size XXXL. Back in the day I use to weigh 278 lbs. I am currently at 156 lbs and wear a size Large. Hell, sometimes medium.. oh, and I am between 6.1-6.2 :(

Sucks that I had to throw away a lot of my favorite shirts. Sadly they were all at XXXL(celtic frost, hell hammer, Sadus, slayer, sepultura just to name a few)...

I bought XL Bolt Thrower shirts for extra motivation.

Luckily I've never had to buy XXXL. I was like 275+ in high school but wasn't buying/wearing metal shirts at the time.

But yeah that sucks that you had to throw away all those awesome shirts. My problem seems to be with these bigger shirts (XXL and above) the collars get stretched out waaaay too easily. I've had to throw shirts away just because the collars were completely annihilated and it was incredibly uncomfortable to wear them. I'm hoping the smaller sizes don't give in as easily. But all these shirts are made with cheap ass materials unfortunately.

I told him no and then he started babbling on about how he is very good friend with Autopsy and how he's going to get them to come kick my ass if i don't sell him the ticket for under face value. :hecho:

I saw you at the Decibel tour as well. I saw you in the pit for Napalm Death. I ran into the main floor to look for you as soon as Napalm Death finished. Sadly you disappeared like a ghost and you were no where to be found. It got pretty hectic in there for Cannibal corpse!

Oh by the way. In case I hadn't posted this before... I got into that show for the price of Five dollars. It's a really long story and i feel like it would be fitting for a post like this to be made in the review/setlist section. Surprised treghet or no one else has posted a setlist for that show yet. Maybe when i get off my lazy ass I'll post a long ass detail rant on how the show went down for me. But to make it short...

I went to buy my ticket at the show only to find out it was completely and totally sold out. I ended up getting into the show for five bucks. I ran into elturtleboy who had to pay 35(or 30?) to some bouncer to get in. It was also my first time meeting elturtleboy. :D

Five dollars to see Immolation, Napalm Death, Cannibal Corpse, Qwel and maker(these were the rappers performing in the other room. It was my 4th time seeing them) is the best bang for your buck that i HAVE ever spent in my entire life.

This is motivating me to post a review with a giant story penned next to it on the setlist section.

Cherry Wheat seems to be hit or miss. I really believe that every batch tastes different. I've had it when it tastes like a delicious wheat beer with a natural cherry taste and full of strong wheat flavor. Then i've had it when it tastes like an average wheat beer and loads of artificial cherry flavor. It does however, always seem to be good on tap.

It's pretty epic - the scene for good beer in general is flourishing here. There are a few places you should check out, including Le Bistro des bières belges (http://www.bistrobelge.com/index-1.html), that basically has everything you asked for and almost every belgian beer one can import. Another cool place is a brewery called Benelux (https://www.facebook.com/BrasserieArtisanaleBENELUX), where they make their own delicous and varied belgian-inspired beers.

There are also other mandatory breweries like the Saint-Bock (who also have belgian-styled beers), l'Amère à boire (my personal favourite, though their beers are inspired by czech, german and english tradition), Dieu du Ciel!, etc.

If you make the trip, be sure to tell me! I'll gladly have a beer with you.

I don't know if I've had the legit stuff with the wormwood or whatever (I probably didn't) but it was 70 something ABV, and it tasted like black licorice to me. I was already pretty drunk so I didn't notice anything different than the alcohol effect. I only had a tiny bit though because it was my friend's and it was a small bottle (or more like a vial). One of my friends took a big rip of it and vomited immediately, but he was probably already fucked up.

I'm curious to try it too in larger quantities myself.

Picked up a Left Hand Path Wake Up Dead Imperial and a Stone Enjoy By 7/4/13 IPA at the store the other day. I love all of Stone's IPAs and the Enjoy By series is great. I might open the Wake Up Dead before the Intronaut / Valient Thorr show tonight.

Sipping on some Arizona green tea at the moment.

A good friend had his wedding last night. I had, in approximate order:

Victory Noble Pils
Victory Golden Monkey Tripel
Saranac Kolsch
Lake Placid Ubu Ale
Heineken
Southern Tier IPA (couldn't believe how good this was)
Lagunitas IPA
Magic Hat Vinyl
Long Trail Harvest
Stone Pale Ale
Sam Adams Imperial (split w/ a friend)

So let's just say, I don't exactly feel up to running a marathon today.

Finally tried some absinthe. Since I'm a broke college kid, I just went for the $12 bottle. I've gotta say, once you get past the black licoriche taste, it's pretty good. Definitely a little too easy to drink, though.

I switched to diet years ago, and people love to say "b-but aspertame causes cancer!" Uh, yeah, maybe (and that's a big maybe: the science/research is inconclusive at best) but drinking a shit ton of regular soda DEFINITELY will fuck up your teeth and give you hundreds of empty calories.

The second time I ever drank was at the Hofbrauhaus in Munich. I didn't know my metrics at the time so I stupidly (by which I mean ingeniously) ordered a liter of the Hofbrau Original. It's my favorite beverage I've ever had, which may not be saying much since I'm only exposed to cheap shitty beers at college.
