Wow Tombs was an awesome surprise as number one. I am really happy with "Atma" placing so high. They really deserve all the recognition, they can get. Rwake, Deafheaven, Hammers of Misfotune and Disma are criminally low. Lack of Altar of Plagues, Leviathan, Flourishing, and Giant Squid sucks though.

Solid list. Opeth and Mastodon are way to high for me. Glad to see Yob, 40 Watt Sun, Tombs, Subrosa, and Graveyard among a few others getting some love.

No Motorhead-the World Is Yours = fail.

Disturbing lack of Wolves in the Throne Room and that terrible Opeth album at #2 is laughable, but hey, Fucked Up!

EDIT: Decibel Magazine, a subsidiary of Relapse Records

Pretty solid list, quite a few that are very high on my own list. Hate Eternal is way tooooooooooo high though. It's a good record, but it's not nearly as good as a lot of people are making it out to be.

=2010, more accurately.

The World is Yours should count as a 2011 release since the official release was in January.

Agreed that there's a disturbing lack of WITTR and Altar of Plagues.

This isn't nearly as shitty as I imagined it was going to be. I like a lot of those albums mentioned. Some I haven't heard, but not a bad list at all.

Although if I have to bitch...Where the fuck is Deconstruction?

Hard to agree with the rankings but I'm glad they included what they had there. I'm glad to see Exhumed, Absu, Primordial, Inquisition, Disma and Autopsy there!

I might be wrong but I remember the Inquisition album coming out sometime in November 2010 around the time Marrow of the Spirit came out.

It was released in the U.S. in January of 2011 so I guess they're basing release dates off of U.S. releases.

That is a mighty fine point, sir. I highly doubt anyone can honestly say they've heard 40 albums this year that are better than Deconstruction.

Exactly. I know I haven't. Say what you want about Ghost (Although that is in my top 20 as well) but yeah. Anyone....name 40 albums better then Deconstruction that came out in 2011. I'll wait....

Junius.

"A Dark Day With Night" from the Junius/Rosetta split is better than any track on Reports From the Threshold of Death.

Omission of one album warrants "this list fucking blows?"

I can overlook the omission of the latest Vader album on anyone's list, but the name "DECIBEL" pretty much warrants that

Can't believe Decibel forgot Anaal Nathrakh

Brutal Truth is #5:finger:

And they added Trap Them/ Deaf Heaven/Graf Orlock/Gridlink

It needs Wormrot tho.

Good to see they see outside the mainstream metal.

lol, opeth at number 2? That's a little ridiculous. I don't think it's a bad album, but I don't even think it's gonna crack my top 20.

This. An exclusive magazine release should not make the album a 2010 release.

Expecially an exclusive magazine release that was issued in December, when Decibel is publishing their end-of-year list in November

Lists suck. This is no different. No Five Serpents Teeth from Evile? Probably my favorite this year. No Warbringer, Symphony X, Wolf, Dream Theater or Anthrax= failure. Nice try Decibel

Those thrash bands are far from exciting and Symphony X and Dream Theater are just extremely bloated progressive metal.

I'd liked to have seen Anthrax and maybe Warbringer on there but to call the list a "failure" is a bit much.
