Crazy show, my neck is ridiculously sore and I can't feel my vocal chords. It's crazy how many times I've had to pass up seeing the Waste before; I live in Richmond so I have the chance to see them often. However, this time I was going. I got to the show quite early with a few friends and then met a few people I knew. Kingdom (Alley Katz) is a great venue and was the perfect stage for this night of headbanging, moshing, and stage diving.
I decided to watch the opening bands from the sidelines; the first band to play was a band called Humungus. I thought they were quite entertaining and had a great pit going on during their cover of "Caught in a Mosh". I talked to their vocalist, Jack, after their set and he seemed like a really cool guy. I think I'll look more into them.
The second band was Grown Ass Men. They were okay; I couldn't really get into them though, but put on a fun show nonetheless.
Parasytic was up next and they had the place going. It was when they came on that people started stage diving and their pit was crazy. They played a nice thrash/crust style and I do think I'll look more into them. One small incident I remember though was that they had an air fan be delivered to them through the pit. One guy got hit by a blade and his forehead was bleeding pretty badly. He seemed okay after cleaning up though, hope he is.
Now, for the Waste, I decided to move to right in front of the stage. To balance my self, I literally had to hang on the stage and waited there for the Waste to come on, they came on a bit late. Now, I knew what to expect, but being the smallest guy there, I was getting quite pounded haha. As soon as they started the intro from Hazardous Mutation, the place started going crazy with people constantly moshing. Boy did Tony and Ryan know how to get a place moving.
I had to struggle quite a bit to keep my spot, I think Land Phil noticed this a bit as I was right in front of him haha. People were shoving everywhere and I had to deal with stage divers bashing through me to get on stage. I mostly just headbanged the whole time since my head would get pushed around if I held it back to sing. There were times that I couldn't even pay attention to the music due to the crowd. But that was why this gig was so awesome, the home crowd for MW was in top form.
The most stage diving occurred during Unleash the Bastards and boy was this a great sight to see. During Born to Party, almost everyone in the whole front of the floor fell down a bit. They closed their set with The Art of Partying, and I decided to stage dive once. Some guy helped me get up and then I dove in for the first time; brilliant. After the show I went and gave Land Phil a high five and told him how great of a show they put on.
I had to struggle a bit so I don't remember the set very thoroughly, but I remember them playing the same songs as they did in CT. The order was a bit different, but I can't remember it.
Municipal Waste:
Intro (From Hazardous Mutation)
Sadistic Magician
Headbanger Face Rip
Blood Drive
Accelerated Vision
Mind Eraser
Divine Blasphemer
The Thrashin' of The Christ
Wolves of Chernobyl
Insurance Fraud
Drunk as Shit
Sweet Attack
Idiot Check (New Song)
Beer Pressure
Wrong Answer
Black Ice
I Want To Kill The President
"Black President"
Terror Shark
Acid Sentence
Unleash the Bastards
