One band I've seen multiple times that never ceases to constantly amaze me is Mastodon, and tonight was no different. Third time seeing them and definitely the best. It was nice not having to sit through all of Crack the Skye this time, but the two songs they threw in from it were nice. It was really surprising to me how well-received songs from The Hunter were. Everyone was singing along with "Black Tongue" and "Curl Of The Burl" and when they came back after Blood and Thunder (I think for the first time on this date), Dillinger Escape Plan and Red Fang came on stage to help them sing "Creature Lives"! It was crazy. Of course, everyone went super nuts when they hit their back catalogue. "Circle of Cysquatch" still rips live and "Aqua Dementia" and "March of the Fire Ants" are in a league of heaviness of their own. Each band member looked like they were having tons of fun on stage. Every time I see Mastodon, it ends up being one of the best shows of the year. Can't wait to see them next time!

Dry Bone Valley
Black Tongue
Crystal Skull
I Am Ahab
Capillarian Crest
Colony of Birchmen
Megalodon
Blasteroid
Sleeping Giant
Ghost of Karelia
All the Heavy Lifting
Curl of the Burl
Spectrelight
Bedazzled Fingernails
Circle of Cysquatch
Aqua Dementia
Crack the Skye
Where Strides the Behemoth
Iron Tusk
March of the Fire Ants
Blood and Thunder
Creature Lives (with Red Fang and Dillinger Escape Plan)

The Dillinger Escape Plan is honestly the craziest live show I've ever seen. Even if you hate the music, just to see them live is a spectacle in of itself. Greg was all over the place, including out in the crowd, and everyone else was jumping off amps or the barrier or hanging from the rafters upside-down playing their instrument. They went over really well with the crowd, which was a relief. They seemed to play for a long time, but I know for sure their set was basically the same it's been all tour long, but they might have added some.

Farewell Mona Lisa
Room Full of Eyes
Milk Lizard
Panasonic Youth
Gold Teeth on a Bum
Horse Hunter
Chinese Whispers
Sunshine the Werewolf
43% Burnt

Opening was Red Fang. It's my 2nd time seeing them this year and they sounded a ton better than before. They are one of the loudest bands I've ever heard, but this time it wasn't so overbearing that it detracted from the music. They honestly should be played on rock radio stations. It's good and it's super catchy stuff. Woo!

Hank Is Dead
Throw Up
Malverde
Wires
Into The eye
Reverse Thunder
Prehistoric Dog

I got a DEP pick. Be jelly.

While it's cool Mastodon did Creature Lives with Dillinger and Red Fang, I really hope they don't play that in Boston. It's the only Mastodon song that I really don't like.

Seeing as how it's the last song of the set, you could leave early ;)

I could, but I probably won't. They might not even play it

With the addition of Creature Lives they are now playing everything I want to hear from the Hunter. They better keep this for when I see them on the 26th

Manks what kind of turnout was there? Wanted to go but wasn't feasible. Plus going to see Terror on Sunday!!!! Was it Megadeth packed? I know their twitter said tickets were still available.

It was definitely packed! Probably about as many people there that Opeth had

I wanted to go to this at one point, I had the night off from work but no. A packed Beaumont on a Monday didn't appeal to me. Not with all the annoying -core kids and hipster douchebags that might've shown up. I would have wanted to be up front but I'm sure that would have required getting there at 3pm or shelling out an additional 20 bucks for a VIP pass in advance.

Regardless, that's about as good a setlist as you'll see from Mastodon; great selections from all albums plus the new album. I love the band, and I've seen them and met them before. Maybe I'll see them again...(one day)

Sounds like a dumb reason to miss a show. Your loss, buddy.

Holy shit you couldn't have been any more wrong about anything. I shows up at 7. Made it to the front by the end of the night. And what core kids like Mastodon??

I think they were doing like a VIP thing because I got there and Red Fang was soundchecking because they weren't letting anyone in yet, but when I got in there was already a good crowd of people on the floor. There was NO ONE there at the time doors opened.

And from where I was standing I didn't see too many core-kid douches. A good amount of moshing for DEP and then it never really stopped during Mastodon!

Hell yes! This is one of my favorite songs off the new album. Glad to see they are closing with it and hopefully they keep it until they come to Orlando. So does anyone have an idea of how long this setlist is? 2 hours? It's a pretty indepth set.
