Im happy because when originally it was rumored they would be touring with MH my dream was they would bring the "Eighth Plague" tour and use SS to replace BMTH

They haven't done one since 2005(Black Tyranny was coheadlining and they only did like 8 songs from what I heard)

I'm stoked, the only time I saw them close to headlining was Road Rage when they coheadlined with Chimaira(and at my date their set was just "Burn My Eyes"

So it'll be cool to see a proper headlining show

In the last decade they did three headlining tours(and the one in 2005 was fairly small and just wherever they didn't hit in 2004)

In the summer of 04 they did a coheadliner with Chimaira(where the bands took turns closing the show out)

and in 2007 they coheadlined with Arch Enemy(only doing 8 song set, which they also did the following year supportying Hellyeah)

Thing is they won't bring more bands like Machine Head in they will bring stuff closer to Suicide Silence. Kids up here love that stuff. I can guarantee atleast 5 people I know are only going to this show to HxC Dance. Thrash and Burn is coming up here and this part of the state is going crazy for it. :bouville:

Suicide Silence's crowd isn't as bad as it used to be. Last 3 times I've seen them there has been little to no hardcore dancers also. Then again it depends on who they play with. At mayhem fest there were no dancers whatsoever, just circle pits pretty much. With them playing with Machine Head I doubt there will be many, if any dancers at all.

Problem with the Opera House is that it fits about 700, as opposed to the 3,000 or so that Sound Academy fits.

But I do agree, the Sound Academy might be my least favourite venue in Toronto, due to location and the interior of it. It's impossible to move around and get a good spot without getting squished because of how narrow it is. And if you drift near the back and want to watch the show from there you can barely see.

As far as realistic venue choices to replace Sound Academy, i'm surprised that nearly no one is booking shows at the Kool Haus anymore. That place used to get most of the mid-sized shows that came through here. Now it's like no one books there.

Unfortunately that's true. The Opera House is such a great place to see a show, it's a shame it's too small. I really don't like either the Sound Academy or the Kool Haus. The Phoenix is OK. It's a shame there aren't more venues that book metal shows in the city.

Every metal/hard-rock show I used to go to about 10-15 years ago used to be at the Warehouse/Kool Haus but I think I've only been there maybe four times in the last five years. I prefer the Kool Haus over the Sound Academy just for how much more open it is. Isn't Mastodon playing there?
