The important part is Blood Ceremony showing Gayst how it's done. :light:

That's generally how long headlining bands play nowadays, unfortunately :(

Unless they have another album of material written and ready to play for us on this tour :D

I have never seen a headlining band play for less than 75 minutes. Definitely curious to know what they'll pad their set with. I'll definitely be going to this, though.

I hope Blood Ceremony plays all dates! Or at least Montreal :P Never really got into Ghost but Blood Ceremony is great.

You haven't seen enough small underground bands, then.

Why, why? Hopefully people see them and get it out of their system and go back to liking good music for music's sake and not fall victim to more gimmicks.......

I like Ghost. They're not metal though, so that's why everyone hates them.

NEEDS MOAR DATES! Seriously though, I've been wanting to see Ghost for over a year now. I'm going on a limb here and saying they'll be on the Behemoth US tour in April.

Ugh I hope not. 2 major north american tours in just a couple of months for a band that only has one release that's not extraordinary would be...meh...Let's just say I would be disappointed.

I assume you're not implying that Ghost is a "small underground" band. I've seen local headliners play sets of 45-60 minutes, of course, but I've never heard of a touring headliner (especially international) playing for less than 75 minutes.

No Vancouver date, apparently. So I guess I don't even need to worry about it :hecho: .

what the fuck

I guarantee any band that is smaller than Lamb of God doesn't play a 75 minute headlining set nowadays.

I could probably it make it to the Boston show or Montreal show. Maybe both.

I'm with Northern_Shaman on this one. Haven't been to many shows where the headliner played under 75 minutes. If they do it's usually because of technical difficulties. Otherwise UNACCEPTABLE.

Okay, should have clarified. If it's a national package tour, then headlining sets are obviously around 75 min in length.

Now I'm really fucking confused. Bands smaller than LOG that I've seen headlining so far in 2011 include: Enslaved, Evergrey, Grave, Amon Amarth, The Sword, 3 inches of Blood, Eluveitie, and Devin Townsend (not a lot, but a decent amount). Every single one of these bands played longer than 75 minutes. Amon Amarth played for 2.5 hours this time around due to their tour being an 'Evening with...', but the other three times I've seen them headlining have had at least 80 minute sets.

Which bands have you guys been seeing that make you say the majority of headliners (touring, might I specify) play for 40 minutes..? That's a bit of a ripoff.

Oh, I was thinking about much smaller bands, the ones I normally see. Like Warbringer, Black Dahlia Murder, Ghoul, etc.

I've seen Ghoul and Black Dahlia headline, I'm pretty sure they both played at least 75 minutes. I think Black Dahlia was probably a good 90 minutes, it was the Metal Blade 25th anniversary tour in '05.

Can't speak for Warbringer though

January 25th....FUUUUUUCK YEAAAAAAH!

As for headlining bands' sets. Apparently none of you guys go to shows that are non-label bands. I've gone to and played many shows where the headlining band gets 45 minutes then thrown off stage. For Ghost. Who's to say they won't have a new songs by January?

I'm guessing it will be an hour long show, possibly at most, but I will go on record saying an hour long show.

I saw Grave and their set was roughly 50 minutes, maybe 55. I have seen 3 Inches of Blood headline many times and not play more than an hour. I saw Archgoat come tour the country and play a 35 minute headlining set. Don't get me started on Toxic Holocaust...Brutal Truth only plays 45 minutes or so..Youth of Today's headlining tour was maybe 40 minutes. Deicide plays for less than an hour. Extreme Noise Terror played 35 minutes... It really depends on the band that's playing. Bands with songs that are roughly around 4 to 5 minutes long will obviously play at least 75 minutes cause that's about 15 or so songs. A good amount of bands with songs that are under two minutes will not play for less than 45 minutes cause they don't want to play more than 20 songs.

I saw the Meat Shits play less than 10 minutes as a headliner cause the singer passed out from too much drugs/alcohol. Well they weren't suppose to headline that night, Anal Cunt was, but AC only played 10 minutes as well.

There's an answer I can understand. I don't really listen to grind/punk bands at all. Just got my Deicide ticket in the mail actually - definitely hoping for/expected more than an hour from them :eyes:.

Anyway, it would be REALLY sweet if Ghost already had new material. I wonder if they'll change their sound at all.

No way in shit has Ghoul played a 75 minute set.
I've seen them play festival, one off headlining and headlining tour dates and they ranged from 30 minutes to at most barely 50. Same goes for the time I saw Impaled, and all the setlists I have seen for them.

I can't imagine any 'club level' metal band playing for over an hour. Short of arena bands and Danzig I can't think of a show I've seen where an extreme metal band has played more than an hour. 30-45 is standard in all of my experience.

Ghost could easily do the record and the cover and have a satisfying headlining set.

Having seen both Ghost and Blood Ceremony... Ancient Vvisdom are the best live band on this tour.

I've never heard of a touring headliner (especially international) playing for less than 75 minutes.

Really? Crowbar came here and played 55 minutes... so did Premonition 13. The Quill came over from Sweden and played 45 minutes as a headliner... seriously, it happens all the time. Especially on package tours.

Ghost have however said they're working on a new album at the moment, so chances are you'll get everything off Opus Eponymous and a new song or two.
