Today they put up a new facebook page for Mike Patton's band Tomahawk and this was the first status update:
"New Tomahawk page!! Which means a NEW record is coming soon!"
I was just thinking the other day that Mike Patton needs to do a new rock album. It's been a while.

Tomahawk, the underground super group that includes Duane Dennison (The Jesus Lizard, Unsemble), Trevor Dunn (Fantomas, Melvins Lite), Mike Patton (Mondo Cane, Faith No More, a hundred other bands) and John Stanier (Battles, Helmet) have announced their fourth album Oddfellows will be released in 2013.
We know that sounds like a long wait, but the band will be releasing a teaser 7-inch single titled Waratorium on November 23rd, Record Store Day’s Black Friday event. The b-side will feature an original etching by famed cartoonist and comics scholar Ivan Brunetti. The release will be available digitally a week later.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone Dennison described the record as “…a full-on rock album. There’s no quirky weirdness – it’s very straightforward for us. There’s almost like this weird, upbeat sound, what I call ‘heavy pop,” and Patton totally got the vibe right away… really heavy Beach Boys.”
Of course if you can’t wait to hear new tunes the band has planned a brief fall tour kicking off on Oct. 27 at Nashville’s The Exit/In and ending with a set at Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, TX. Here are the dates.

October 28 New Orleans, LA Voodoo Music Experience

October 31 Dallas, TX Granada Theatre
