Hopefully not.

Because you're not interested, or because you are and don't want to be tempted? One of those is valid, the other isn't.

It's both. If I want to see Ozzy I want to see him alone with a single band playing his solo stuff and some BS covers. Not Ozzy & Friends traveling show of various people. Plus I don't like Zakk.

I'd like to see Ozzy and Friends. I'd rather see Black Sabbath but I want Tony to rest up as much as he needs to get better.

So like I said, one was valid one wasn't. You don't want to see the show, so you just don't go. Hoping he doesn't play shows for other people to go to is silly.

Weren't there "troubles" about money with him in the past (2004 or so)?

Fuck yes, and this will obviously take place in california. I was also thinking Devore, more importantly....Ozzfest 2012? Did they even say if there is going to be one this year? I remember 2008 was a one off date in texas with Ozzy and Metallica as the headliners. Maybe this is going to be a one off OZZFEST date? Who knows, but holy shit it has always been my dream to see the legendary Sabbath in person, my god i hope they announce the date/area/location SOONER THAN LATER, Bitches!!! :rocker:

But i got money saying its a one off Ozzfest date. OZZFEST 2012? :rocker:

I don't see why It wouldn't be. Ozzfest originally started off as a one off date in Devore California back in the mid 90's and then it exploded into a summer tour for years to come. I don't think this will be in Indio. For one Band? I'm pretty certain this "one date" california show is going to be Ozzfest and i'm 100% certain that it will be in Devore. The only other place i see this "one date" show taking place would be at the Memorial Colosseum which i hope to god it won't be :snivel:

Just a wild Guess..

But I'm pretty certain that Black Sabbath will be headlining the Sunset Strip Music Festival which will take place on August 16th-18th of this year in West Hollywood. Mark my words.

Sharon said that this one Date would take place in August. Makes total sense to me. And more importantly, I can't see BLACK SABBATH playing There one and only show without a shit load of bands opening up for them, I REALLY REALLY can't see them playing this ONE date without having a fuck tun of bands opening for them . Infact, having a fuckton of bands and being an all day out door music fest makes total sense to me. Yeah, i thought it was ozz fest at first but when I look back..

They still haven't announced the line up for the Sunset Strip Music Fest yet. And the fact that it takes place in late august, and sharon said that black sabbath would be playing a show in august. And the fact that this will be an all day out door-in the open-festival in the blazing heat makes total sense to me for them to choose this for their reunion. Oh and don't get me started with the 20+ bands playing before them as well. And if they do get sabbath they will probably headline the last day of the show. The 18th of August.

Anyways that's my 2 cent. who knows, lets see as the coming days unravel. :blaze:

Yeah you're probably right. Ozzy played the first one in 2009. I don't even want to imagine what shitty artist is going to be playing at the same time as Sabbath on the East stage. I remember I was seeing Smashing Pumpkins there and Kid Cudi was playing the same time :hmm:

Kid Cudi! Yikes! :hecho:

But yeah man, Black Sabbath will be playing at the SSMF in West Hollywood later this year, I can't see why they wouldn't. I mean i can't think of any where else they would play(other than canada;)). Oh and I'm sure there will be tons of shitty artists/bands that we will have to endure to see the mighty sabbath, no doubt about that. And it doesn't help that it's going to be on the Hot sunny blistering heat in the middle of august. Makes perfect sense for them to choose this fest. As much as i would love to see Black sabbath just play by themselves with like one or two opening acts, they just won't take that route. Sharon said they are going to play one show in August. She said they can't announce it because the Promotors will. SSMF hasn't even announced the line up yet but the festival is set to take place August 16th to the 18th. I'm pretty sure They are going to play one of the dates of that fest, and when they do

I'M GETTING MY TICKETS FASTER THAN FLIES ON SHIT MY NIGGA :rocker:

Plus West Hollywood/sunset is like 45-50 minute for me.....2 hours when stuck in horrific traffic...especially on the 101 :barf:

Update from Metal Injection (whichever guy it is there who also DJs on Sirius?)

"My buddy (and fellow SiriusXM Liquid Metal DJ) Jose Mangin went down to the studio to record audio snippets for OZZY OSBOURNE's SiriusXM channel, Ozzy's Boneyard, and was accompanied by RockMyWalls.com photographer, Sonny Guillen. Sonny was nice enough to give us a few tidbits of information about the status of the new album.

The band is currently in the studio recording vocals with Rick Rubin. There are 15 songs that have been written, and according to Geezer Butler, 12 of them will make the record, most likely with the additional three serving as bonus tracks for different special editions.

Apparently, guitarist Tony Iommi completed all 15 guitar tracks during the band's sessions in England earlier this year, and judging by the way most bands record, that would mean drums are done as well. Ozzy and Geezer are working to complete the tracks in five song increments, with the first five being worked on currently.

Ozzy is tracking vocals, with bassist Geezer Butler writing all the lyrics. One song title has been confirmed and it's 'God Is Dead'.

As for guitarist Tony Iommi, Ozzy mentioned that he spoke to Iommi recently and he is in good sprits and recovery is coming along very well from his cancer scare earlier this year."

Interview was apparently conducted with Ozzy and Geezer at the same time, and will begin airing on Ozzy's show on Sirius next week.

I sure hope not. I have no interest in paying festival prices for a bunch of mediocre artists and a poorly organized Sabbath stage. I just want to see Black Sabbath with maybe 1-2 support bands.

Preferably some underground(ish) bands, instead of popular artists who already tour frequently.

It would be rad as fuck for The Devil's Blood to be on this. I could see it happening, too.

I hate this shit.
And I'm curious to see how Ozzy's vocals turn out, they've been way too over processed for his past couple albums to hide his deteriorating voice but Rick Rubin's track record would suggest he would clean them up.

Why? Priest is done with major tours and it's been done already. Hard to believe that would be 9 years after the first time though.

Rick Rubin's track record of doing what, precisely? He's just about the most uninvolved producer in the business. He doesn't do anything. Most bands who've worked with him say he's pretty much never even there.

Depends entirely on the band and the role they want the producer to play. But a guy who's never there and doesn't actually do anything is a waste of time, like Rubin.

He has a reputation of throwing reverb and effects out the window and most of what he produces sounds dry and sterile, which works for say, Slayer, but I think it made Metallica sound terrible.

Rubin's methods made those early Slayer & Danzig records sound great imo. I think Sabbath is a very raw sounding, primative modern technology, no frills band (except for Ozzy's sure to be autotuned, layered vocals). I think Rubin's methods will enhance the riffs and guitar tone of Iommi and allow Geezer's bass lines to be more prevelant than on the Devil You Know (great album but I thought Iommi's tone was too slick & muddied with Geezer's bass at times). The drums will probably suffer some due to lack of reverb. Overall I think he is one of the best choices for a great sounding Black Sabbath album. I don't think he will steer them in the wrong direction. Afterall, this is the same guy who turned the trainwreck known as Metallica back in the right, heavier direction.

Sorry dude, I'm calling total bullshit on this one. The riffing is nothing like the way Iommi played on The Devil You Know, the singer sounds nothing like Ozzy does nowadays, and a band as professional and rich as Sabbath sure as hell wouldn't record a demo that sounded that crappy. And if that is actually real and that is the best that the unholy lord of of the riff can come up with, then we're all fucked.

I dunno if BS could do amphitheaters by themselves- maybe large theaters or small arenas, but they would definitely need OzzFest to do sheds. Near the end of their run Heaven and Hell were forced to do small theaters and clubs when they started with small arenas.

I really hope this doesn't come to San Bernardino over the summer. I really don't want to drive 2 hours there and back just for a shitty lawn seat.

That's because Heaven & Hell hardly had the name recognition Black Sabbath and Ozzy do. As great as Dio was, he never came close to the level of popularity Ozzy has. Before H&H, Dio was playing venues that fit maybe 1,000 at the most, while Ozzy has always filled arenas/amphitheaters very well by himself thoughout his career. Sabbath without Ozzy also would play much smaller venues.

The fact that they haven't toured as Black Sabbath for a number of years now and Ozzy's infinite popularity should be enough for them to fill up amphitheaters in a respectable way this summer.

Don't be surprised if this is an arena tour. Ozzy has bad allergies and severe sinus problems when playing amphitheaters. That was one reason had problems playing all of the Ozzfest dates in the past. It effected his voice from what I recall reading. I also do not think Sabbath needs Ozzfest to tour and fill up wherever they play. They would have a hard time competing against Warped, Mayhem Fest and Uproar.

I think a few solid opening acts would be better than the typical festival tour at this point. I would love to see Down, Mastodon, Gojira, Ghost, Anthrax or Machine Head be among the opening bands for this tour.

I too think this will be an arena tour, because of Ozzy's allergies/vocals/etc. But even when he did the arena tour for Black Rain back in '07, the setlists still got shorter as the tour went on, which is what I'm worried about if they do an extensive tour.

Iommi's recent health issues are also a concern if they have a long tour as well. I haven't read much about his cancer treatment but i'm guessing everything is going well since they're planning a tour. Still, you never know what can happen and how traveling will affect him after going through all that.

It is a fantastic venue, the stage is in front of the Columbia River canyon which makes a beautiful backdrop. I saw Rush there in '97 and think it's about time I made a return visit. As for prices, it wasn't bad in '97 but concert tickets in general have gone through the roof since then.

150 actually isn't terrible for the top tier seats but even with that, you're not gonna get anything better than the 15th or 20th row since they auction and reserve all the better seats for VIP packages. But $65 for lawn is absurd, even if it is the nicest outdoor venue in the country.

Andrew W.K.? :tp: What a wast of time. That's just about the worst opener I could think of for Sabbath. And fuck, it looks like this may be hitting the East Coast the week I'll be in SC. Might have to fly somewhere for this one.

He's listed as the opener for the Gorge show as well (which is not back up on TM and Live Nation).

I wish it was just BLS like every other Sabbath tour ever.

Sanitarium78

Andrew WK is a terrible opener. It should be obvious to the promoters that most Sabbath fans wouldn't like him. If he's the opener for the whole tour I hope he gets booed off stage at every show. I thought I read something about BLS being the opener. Who cares how many times they've opened for them, at least you'll have a support band that a lot of Sabbath/Ozzy fans will like.

I'm sorry that if I'm paying 150 dollars to see a classic metal band that could have just about anyone open for them I'd like to get something other than the white version of LMFAO.

I've listened to his "best" album so that's as much as I need to know. Bland vocals, stupid keyboards, lame riffs, and pedestrian party rock lyrics.

So, yes, LMFAO with fewer electronic elements and less catchy songs.;)

No, he's good simple pop metal. I don't mean pop metal like avenged sevenfold, but its like if Cheap Trick was a metal band. He's awesome and fun and he doesn't pretend to be anything more. Of all the bands for Black Sabbath fans to be blockhead curmudgeons about, AWK should be far down that list.
