Interesting setlist. Seems weird that there's nothing from the Something Wicked trilogy, the Gettysburg trilogy or Framing Armageddon, but on the other hand 4 pre-Barlow songs, "Damien" and proper selections from the new album make up for it I guess. :rocker:

EDIT: It would be nice if they would swap out Dark City for Boiling Point though.

Would it hell. Dark City is, by far, the best song on Dystopia.

You've got to be kidding

Don't get me wrong, I like the song. I like the movie too. But the references to the titular film are so blatant as to make it rather cheesy, in my opinion. And even if the song were in no way related to a prior work of film, I would still rate it below several other tracks on the album, including Boiling Point ;)

Needs some more Something Wicked, Horror Show, and Framing. "Ten Thousand Strong" would be epic with Stu.

Ten thousand strong was one of the first IE songs I heard so it would be aswesome if Stu sang it.

It's a shame that Horror Show is so neglected. Damien is a wonderful pick if any though. Not enough from Something Wicked either, but Schaffer's selection of new songs covers it up well (although Soylent Green and Iron Will could take Anguish of Youth and Days of Rage, respectively).

Not enough Something Wicked? Not the best song choices I would agree, but that record was 13 years ago and they played three tracks off of it. That's pretty fair if you ask me.

True, but I want to hear him do the trilogy. :( Or one of the ballads (Melancholy or Watching Over Me).

Buuuuut I am happy to see "Angels Holocaust" in there.

Well I can't blame you for that ;)

I have nothing but priase for this set. How many times do we complain about a band not playing a long enough set or not representing their catalog well enough? Well Iced Earth has done that with this set. They are representing 8 out of their 10 albums and doing a set that's at least two hours. So we should all be happy that a band is giving the fans a proper show.

Good selections off the new album plus dusting off some great ones like Damien, Dante's Inferno and Slave To The Dark makes this set a complete win.

Oh yeah, they also did Angels Holocaust and Pure Evil:rocker:

Awesome selections, especially Damien. Also, Stand Alone is randomly one of my favorite Iced Earth songs. Would've liked for them to squeeze in "Iron Will" somewhere, and I prefer "End of Innocence" to "Anguish of Youth". Also, I'm gonna miss "Ten Thousand Strong" and "Watching Over Me", which has also always been a random favorite of mine. But overall, I'm pretty happy, can't really bitch about this.

unless you are absolutely brand new to Iced Earth, how the hell could you be disappointed by this? This is an incredible setlist.

I'm also extremely saddened that the Symphony X/Iced Earth tour is coming Nowhere within 10 hours of me. How the hell does that happen?

no question for heaven :(

It was played all last year with Barlow. I have a feeling it won't be played for a very long time, if ever again.

I'm not sure why, I just have that guy feeling.

Such an awesome selection right there. Can't wait for the US tour of this. I feel like the order of the songs are weird though.

Honestly, I'd like to see that album in it's entirety.

Maybe when Barlow comes back again :D

I was actually most surprised to see Slave to the Dark in there. It was announced that Dante's, When the Night Falls, Damien and Angels Holocaust were being brought back, so that wasn't surprising. Still great nonetheless.

I think it's kind of a bummer that of three SWTWC songs, they picked My Own Savior and Stand Alone. Burning Times is cool. Stand Alone isn't bad, but not a favorite. As for My Own Savior, how does that song keep sneaking it's way into the setlist? Has it been removed at all since SWTWC came out, besides when they were opening for Megadeth? It's such a sub-par IE song and could be replaced with something much better from that record.

My only other complaint is that its not a Horror Show friendly set. Trust me, I was beyond stoked to hear that Damien was coming back, but why does Jon neglect that record so much? There's only ever 1 song from it at a time. I wonder if he holds it in the same place as Burnt Offerings. It's such a great record. I'd love to see Wolf, Jack, hell... even Ghost of Freedom would be sweet.

Hopefully when Iced Earth does their big production live DVD/live album, there will be a nice big variety of songs from all of the albums.

It's as if he read this thread. My Own Savior is gone, Ten Thousand Strong is in.
