Not a metal show (obviously) so I figured it would go here.

I found out about this show in my school's newspaper. Apparently Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, and Smashing Pumpkins came to NIU in 1991 and played in one of the big reception halls (called the Duke Ellington Ballroom, pretty big room).

RHCP had released Blood Sugar Sex Magik just three weeks before this show! Pearl Jam had just released their debut album that everyone knows and loves (not me really but still), Ten, and Smashing Pumpkins had just released their debut album as well, Gish. It's crazy how that just years after this performance they would go on to have multi platinum and even diamond status albums!

The article also showed their sets, so I posted this here to see if anyone would be interested in seeing what they all played back in 1991 before they reached where they are now.

Smashing Pumpkins:
STP
Rocket
Tristessa
Window Paine
Bury Me
Siva
I Am One

Pearl Jam

Red Hot Chili Peppers

Stone Cold Bush
Fopp/Red Hot Mama

Fucking crazy! I never knew that these three bands, let alone RHCP came to my school 20 years ago! It's a shame we never get anything on that par at NIU anymore...:bouville: But anyway, enjoy!

They played an amusement park, Rocky Point, for the local show up this way (they used to have great shows like this - Beaste Boys when they were in that era where people didnt care about them as much, Ministry/Helmet/Sepultura triple bill, etc)
