Doesn't really translate live well, at least for me.

Yeah, that wasn't the best. TV performances in general aren't very good though.

I say "that's just the curl of the burl" needs to become a well-used phrase to mean "that's just the way it goes", or similar.

That doesn't sound good, but TV performances rarely do, so I'll wait 'til I see them on the respective tour to judge the songs live..

This is just more unsurprising bad live Mastodon. Not giving them the TV excuse. When bands kick ass live, they kick ass on TV.

I agree, a few of my friends and I have actually started saying it pretty frequently. I thought the performance was pretty good, this song isn't one of their best though.

I saw Mastadon in a Rolling Stone magazine, how mainstream are they?

That just means they are hipster approved.

WHAT THE FUCK DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?!

RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, GEORGE HARRISON, AZIZ ANSARI, AND JON STEWART HAVE BEEN ON THE LAST FOUR COVERS OF ROLLING STONE

WHAT THE FUCK HIPSTER

GODDAMMIT METAL PEOPLE

WHAT

EDIT: I don't even like Rolling Stone as much as some waaaay more "hipster" publications! You fucking people just like to toss that word around like it means one goddamn thing!

I'm just really sick of metalhead shorthand for "thing we can dismiss" is "hipster." It's lazy and ignorant.

At like 1:25 in they are pulling some Axl Rose snake moves there!

You've not noticed that practically every catch phrase is used in that way by most of them?

Did someone here seriously just call Rolling Stone hipster?

Rolling Stone isn't hipster, it's just a shitty magazine (musically speaking, their other stuff is fine).

Dude, Rolling Stone is the opposite of hipster. They're completely mainstream now.

Anyway... I thought they did well on the performance, but I still hate that song so goddamned much. The chorus is the only redeeming part.

Wrong...

The chorus is the only redeeming part.

...And even if I did agree with you, no way would be the chorus be the part of the song that redeems it.

Miles better than when they did Oblivion last time. And definitely got me psyched for their show next month. Always one of the most consistently amazing live acts for me. :D

It's not perfect, but I dig it live. I'm sure it will be much better come touring time.

Any publication that calls Drake the next Tupac can never earn my respect.

Their vocals don't sound like total poo, so that's good at least. I have had one good and one so-so live experience with them. I look forward to seeing what they have in store later this month.

The vocal harmonies with Brent, Troy and Brann sound pretty damn good.

Yeah, I was really impressed by that. Really made the performance for me.
