Gentlemen, FRIENDZONECORE is real! I give you:

"DAUGHTERS" by THE STORY SO FAR (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eiI7h-y4mHY)

lyrics:

Before you twist your tongue
Know there's no chance at all
Came here against my will
And my wills tested strong

Until now, I know we've never met
But I don't want to talk and I'm already upset
That you'll meet your demise in a drunken man's bet
Take another pull to make certain you forget

And to think that you're somebody's daughter
Away at college not getting smarter

Everything changes when all the lights in the room are as low as you,
But don't trip you'll sober up soon
Regain an honest perspective as you puke on the floor
Can't remember why your knees are so cut up and sore

And you'll be hung over all day. (all day! all day!)
You'll be hung over all day. (all day! all day!)
You'll be hung over all day. (all day! all day!)
You'll be hung over all day. (all day! all day!)
You'll be hung over all day. (all day! all day!)

Well the Descendents (for their first album at least) were a hardcore punk band. And I don't really see what was core about the song jd posted. Was there a breakdown at the end that I missed because I closed the song half way through?

No, the Story So Far are straight up "troo pop-punk", the -core is just added so it's easy to make up genre names.

Yeah my friends and I do that all the time. MickeyMousecore, Piratecore, and a bunch of others I keep forgetting. But my personal favorite is when we were at Sam Ash on the electronic drums and my friend found the setting that The Berzerker uses as well as Caribbean bass drops. Thus spawned, Caribbeancore.

Well, 2 cases of this were brought up. My friend started incorporating Mickey Mouse "ho ho!'s" in songs and was like, "DUDE ITS MICKEYMOUSECORE!"

The second one was when my other friend started singing songs in a Mickey Mouse voice. My personal favorite was when he did the beginning of that Emmure song we always rip on (I'm probably the WAGH etc.)

1.) A FM podcast of the Epic Rock Talk (if anyone remember the last 2 from the first half of the year) about the best albums of 2011. I'll post a link when that is cut and ready to be streamed.

2.) My 40 minute segment on The Root Of All Evil at 1:30am Central. Plus some other Metal Christmas shenanigans and I'll be bringing my Ziltoid puppet with me

That can be streamed at http://www.kfai.org Before The Root Of All Evil there will be some Hip Hop shows and a Electronica show leading up to 1am when The Root Of Evil Starts. I hope at least one of you guys tune it, it will be a great show.

Just posted this to Facebook - something to think about:

"I've seen people asking: "If you're not religious and don't believe in Santa - why do you celebrate Christmas?". I'm Agnostic and obviously knew the truth about the Santa thing over 10 years ago, but I still celebrate and love this holiday, and it has nothing to do with presents. To me, Christmas is sort of a combination of New Years and Thanksgiving - it's a time to be reminded of everything positive in the world and my life specifically, and to think back on the year that's ending and what's transpired since last year. It's also just a time to believe, if only for a day or two - that there is some good energy in the world and that most people are still good and innocent at heart. To feel like a kid again (and not the greedy kind who cries because they don't get enough X-Box games), and be optimistic about life in general."

Well said. Also I don't care about the fact that i'm an atheist celebrating Christmas because the holiday was really invented by the pagans as a celebration of the winter solstice well before the birth of Christ.

Can't it be a day where we all do the same thing (give each other gifts) without some of us feeling more righteous than the others? If the CHRIST in Christmas means something to you, then that's awesome. Enjoy it. But don't dampen everyone else's day by whining.

This. I'm all about family, we all have our own rituals for the season, me and my sister watch Muppet Christmas Carol every Christmas Eve for example, but on the day we all just hang out together, crack jokes, play games and enjoy being a family!

Yeah Nails is always great. Reign Supreme was not so great...I have a partial setlist if you're interested. I only got into them about three weeks ago when I first heard them. I've listened to the cd a few times a day since then, so I know the songs pretty well. I just hate how hardcore bands like to have the crowd sing the entire chorus and majority of the songs. I had trouble hearing the singer, so I could barely tell songs. It was so bad that I couldn't tell if they Played And Come What May or not :(

Yeah the entire show just reminded me of how much I hated hardcore shows. 80% of the venue was filled with dumbasses trying to perform hardcore aerobics. I hated every second of it. Yeah, that aint going to happen...I was really good friends with the guy 10 years ago, but haven't talk to him since. The girl I was seeing over the summer happened to be his ex, so he made it clear that he hates me and wants to kick my ass. The only way for him to not hate me is if he feels sorry for me cause he has a new girl, she has a new guy and I kind of got fucked over and am now alone :( Weird thing is, me and the guy could easily be best friends, its just a girl got in the way of any potential friendship.

Lifting/Working Out, dressing well, and having proper hygiene are the best self-motivators I know of. You'll have a much easier time being confident around other people if you've been doing all 3.

This as well, minus the dressing part I guess  I wear band shirts almost everyday, so yeah... But working out and hygiene are two of the most important things I focus on when it comes to taking care of myself.

Anyway, my band played 2 shows in the past 2 days and both nights were incredibly fun! We definitely got a lot of people liking us and we managed to hand out every single one of the demos we made (somewhere between like 50-100 demos)!

I would say this would be the greatest ending to the new year I've had, but I'm working tonight and the restaurant where I work is getting slammed hard tonight. Over 200 people in reservations... this is going to be ridiculous. At least the pay will be awesome.

Yup everyone is right working out definitely gives you more self confidence. I've lost about 12 1/2 pounds in the past month and 1/2 from running and eating a bit bitter. In fact I'm about to go on a 6 mile run right now. Feels good to get compliments left and right which will obviously boost someone's confidence.

And also yeah starting to smoke cigarettes is a very bad idea. Literally almost every friend I hang out with smokes cigarettes. A lot of them say how they wish they never started and now most of them have horrible habits and crave them often. I started smoking for a little bit one time and realized I was starting to make it a habit every time I drank and I stopped after that before it became worse.

There is nothing good about smoking heathwise, but to each their own. I smoke 2 to 3 packs a week and can still go run perfectly fine. I have friends who can barely run for a few minutes before they have to stop. I guess I've made it a habit over the last year as another form of a stress reliever. I actually quit smoking for 10 months last year and felt fine. I never craved it or anything. The only reason I went back was to help me deal with working at 4am and the lack of sleep I was getting. I'm probably going to quit again soon...

That's good then. There's some people I know who smoke cigarettes and stay active, but literally 90% or more of people I know who smoke cigarettes aren't active whatsoever, while the people who don't smoke are usually the ones to stay active and motivated. Then again I also know some Marines who smoke a lot but are in much better shape than anyone I know, so I guess it just depends on the person.

Well what do you do when you normally work out? If you just say that you go on a run for 40 minutes, then yes, that will be boring. Listening to music definitely helps you work out longer. I have a friend who listens to podcasts while working out. Another thing to help is to switch up what you are doing while working out. If you do sets of 10 minute integrals, then you won't get so bored and end up working out longer than you expected.

I'm trying to figure that one out...I have a friend who invited me to a party at her house, but I don't want to go cause I know it will be lame. I have another friend who is celebrating his bday tonight, but not sure if I'm down for that. I have another friend who is having a party that will consist of lots of beer pong rounds and a lot of people I enjoy hanging out with will be there. I am aiming to go to the last one, but at the same time, I don't want to drive anywhere tonight. I would rather find a place I can go and crash at. I honestly think all you really should need is more confidence. I've seen how much weight you've lost and how you look now - you not being healthier/fitter shouldn't really be holding you back from getting a girlfriend. Unless you're going for the completely vain type, most girls are not shallow enough to care about EXACTLY how in shape you are and how healthy your diet is. You're not by any means fat anymore. Aside from that I can't imagine the rest is just tied into confidence and social skills. Not trying to be a douche here, sorry if it seems that way - just my thoughts.

Had a grip of fun last night. I ended up throwing a party/shindig at my house and had around 30-40ish friends over. My band practices in my backhouse and since all the equipment was there, my band made an appearance at my house after they went to a party and we played in front of a bunch of friends. Feels amazing to play in front of a bunch of new faces, especially playing in front of friends who I hang out with all the time but have not heard my band until last night. Pretty much everyone really dug us despite their lack of taste in metal. A lot of my friends said they were very surprised I'm able to pull of vocals that well and they were not expecting that whatsoever since they just figured I'd be only decent. Feels good to play in front of a lot of people and them giving u compliments.

time to rant about girl problems.

My best friend and I confessed to have similar feelings about one another a couple months ago, but ever since, when ive asked her to hangout or asked if shes busy, ive gotten stupid “i dunno” or “we’ll see” texts. I asked her if she wanted to hang saturday, she said sure. Today, she asked me if it was okay to move our “date” to sunday. I was curious as to why she wanted to but i agreed, after all it was just one day. Well she texted me about 10 minutes ago to move it to the weekend after next. Turns out she’s blowing me off to be with her “Boyfriend”, which she seems to have a different one of every week. This is the umpteenth time something like this has happened with her.

and she keeps doing this shit like she'll say "im so sick of being with blah" "when i break up with him me and you are going to be together" then i get all happy when they do break up and then 2 days later she has a new boyfriend. and she'll ignore me for those 2 or so days.

It's like the story answers itself. That's amazing.

No seriously, she's scared of risking losing the friendship and is running to other boyfriends as a defence, so to speak. Very obvious, and the solution is you need to think real fucking hard about whether you want to lose the friendship, because that's a genuine risk. It's that versus what could be better. Logical breakdown of the chances etc.

If you decide it's worth the risk, then you need to be blunt and tell her is she serious about giving being together a try, and if not, fine, but stop fucking about.

That's my view.

Or pretend like it's a big joke, carry on being friends, and abandon your own hopes of something more. That'd also work.

Apart from Daniel Craig (who plays Mikael Blomkvist much better than Nyqist from the Swedish film), the Swedish 2009 film is much superior.I disagree. I actually liked certain parts of the U.S. version much better...and that was something I didn't expect. I was hoping for a competent re-telling of the story at best - and I got so much more. For one thing, the casting was better. Craig, Mara, Plummer and Skarsgård were all perfect. I didn't think anyone could repeat what Rapace did in the original, but Mara was fucking fantastic in my opinion. The score was better, too. WAY fucking better. The original basically had no score to speak of - in the U.S. version, the music was an integral part of the creepiness of the story and it augmented the suspense and action parts well when needed. Cinemtography and story-writing was excellent in both versions.

I agree with the soundtrack (Reznor fanboy right here), Skarsård, and Plummer, but I still enjoyed Rapace's performance more than Mara's. That's not to say she was great, too. I do feel they dragged out the end (everything after Martin's death) in the American version, however.

Yeah, I bought the extended versions (all 3 films) on DVD like a week later, and re-watched them, and they definitely made a great decision with Plummer. He played Henrik a million times better than the guy from the original did.

Going back to my initial post, were you disagreeing with me preferring Craig over Nyqist? Because I was blown away by how well he did. To be honest, I was expecting a shitty compromise between Blomkvist from the novels and Bond.
