Hey man, this may be too big of a request, but could you please get a pic of the Opeth merch booth? With $20 shirts, I'm really curious to see what they look like.

Yeah, I would really appreciate this also!

I hope they pull something special out for you guys. That would suck if they just played the same thing over again. :hecho:

So let me get this straight... Katatonia's allowed to be racist towards playing their songs that have teh groawlzzz but Opeth isn't?

You might want to re-read the other threads. People are more disappointed by the lack of good songs in general, not growls.

Yeah. Though growls would help, too! :D

Im sorry,... I was also at the concert tonight.

for me the setlist read
1) Yawn
2) ZZZZZZZ
3) zzzzzzz ( i need a drink)
4) Porcelain, oh i like this one, (but why are they moshing??)
5) ZZZZ another ballad

oh every song is a ballad...
(when you're moshing to the ballad, its OVER...)

i left....

fuck that BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
fuck you opeth...

i expected a bit of a personal let down since last weeks big4.
but this really takes the cake

instead of being psyched to see opeth again and buy a shirt...
i'm gonna buy the metallica yankee stadium download

goodbye

Were you really at the concert? It doesn't sound like it since the concert was considerably worse than your review states. If I want to listen to bad Pink Floyd mixed with post-Gabriel Genesis while the band publicly masturbates, I would have loved this concert. As it stands, this was one of the most disappointing evenings at a metal (in this case I use the word loosely) show I have ever spent. Next time Opeth is in town, I won't be going. I'll sit home, save my $$, and listen to some of their albums so that I can remind myself that they actually have a set of metal balls among them.

Upon further review of the set list (even though I'm not really digging Heritage), I just got my ticket for the Dallas show.

Even though the set list isn't blowing me away, it's still Opeth.

30 bucks for a GA ticket. Much more than that and I probably would have passed, though.

Yeah. I've listened to Heritage twice today, and it keeps getting better. I'm getting pretty pumped for this show.

Was i really at the concert?
yes truly i was... but not for long... literally after porcelain heart i walked out.
straight to subway. (ok i stopped at taco bell) ;)
so i cant speak to what happened after i left.

but,... a friend stayed, and he spoke to exactly how you described it.
worst show of the year, decade? ...ever?

if you are a knowledgeable opeth fan. (and honestly, im NOT a huge fan, i only know a handful of songs, i'm kind of new to them), (im 41, listen mostly to the "classic" metal, and was giving opeth a chance, and adding them to my listening) the guy is a super talent, the recent live album is pretty good listening)

save your money. you will really hate this set.

I was at the show. I honestly felt it was one of the best times I've seen them. I guess they can't please everyone (or most, as it would appear), but I had a great time as did everyone around me. The Heritage songs really come to life live, but I think everyone's over reacting, in the sense that I do believe later tours won't be like this. But we shall see.

That's kind of a completely different story. Kat's last six albums haven't had any growls, and they were all fantastic. And Jonas didn't stop growling because he wanted to, he stopped because his voice couldn't take it. He's got Swanö Syndrome.

And Katatonia does this shtick better than Opeth anyway.

Now I hate myself even more for not going to the Blackwater Park anniversary tour last year. I'm still looking forward to the show though. Haven't heard the Heritage material yet aside from The Devil's Orchard, which I liked.

I wasn't so upset by them not growling, just upset at the song choice. With a screamless set (which I'm down for if they wanna try something different), at LEAST play some Atonment, Benighted, Isolation Years, Hours of Wealth, more than one Damnation song, To Bid You Farewell, Coil, Credence, Harvest...COME ON!

In addition, I was at both shows as well HOPING for a different set the second night. Why the hell would you play a city two nights in a row in front of almost the same crowd and play the same exact show, to a tee, TWICE?!? Their catalog is so huge, they could have pulled out some cool stuff. Could have really taken the opportunity to do some fun things. Just shows that A. they are too lazy to rehearse more than 10-12 songs, or B. Don't have the capacity to do so (which I know is false).

Give us some variety, men!

What In The Blue Fuck Are You Talking About?

The hypocrisy behind the notion of a clean Katatonia set being acceptable (especially since, if anything, Katatonia were a lot better when they "growled") and a clean Opeth set being unnacceptable just jumped out at me.

My apologies. Carry on

They don't seem to be working for me. In Safari I just see there small boxes with question marks, and in Firefox I see nothing at all.

The sweatshirt in the bottom pic looks pretty awesome, actually. Might have to get it. As for the shirt... not sure yet. Maybe the tour/album art one?

"And Never the Rain Shall Wash the Stain on the Flaking Tomb of Man"... that sounds so goddamn evil! :rocker:

Holy hell those are some beautiful shirts. I think I'll either get the flame with the band members on it, or the 'and never the rain...' shirt (assuming they have it in dude's sizes).....or maybe the green flame. Ah hell, I'll probably buy at least two of them!
