Ouch, same day as BTBAM in Chicago. I don't know if I'm going to either one anyway, I'm trying to save up for Anthrax/Testament the next week in Milwaukee anyway

Local sites are listing the Austin show as Mastodon/Black Tusk. And on the 26th they play Dallas with Soundgarden followed by a show in Houston before Voodoo Fest in NOLA; so.... I am guessing that the dates with Dillinger and Red Fang supporting start in LA.... just an educated guess.

Yep. Sucks big time. I already got VIP tickets for BTBAM, so no way I'm seeing this tour. Damn unfortunate, too. Probably the two biggest names in prog metal today.

I did some investigating to try to find out where The Missing Link may be. There aren't any metal tours hitting Atlanta on December 2, so it may be somewhere else. Anyone have a handy list of metal tours in November/December? ;)

I wouldn't be surprised if there are a few one offs playing that show. It'll be very very good, regardless.

Yeah I saw that. The ALID date on 8/2 is in Conneticut, though. And if they decide to converge with BTBAM again, they'll have to fly up to Edmonton.

I'll see you there! :rocker:

I'm pretty excited to see Mastodon and not have to see CTS all over again :D

I'm not too excited about DEP, but they'll be entertaining to say the least.

Red Fang will also be cool see again.

And I gotta say, I'm sorta proud of Mastodon. The first time I saw 'em at a headlining show was at the GAMH and now they're playing at the Warfield. That's pretty sick.

I want to go to this. Im really liking Red Fang, and if The Hunter(Mastodon) is as good as Curl Of The Burl and Black Tongue then this is a must see show. If the new album is good enough they should play it in it's entirety like they did with Crack The Skye.;)

Something tells me they aren't going to do that for a LONG time. From they it looks, they wore themselves out playing Crack The Skye over and over again. Besides I'm sure people would be a lot happier hearing everything from all 5 albums.

I doubt it. CTS was an epic for their career in terms of progression, and it squeezed seven tracks into 45 minutes so it probably just felt right because the album was so cohesive in its short length. The Hunter, on the other hand...not really.

believe me, it's common for a venue not to know about a tour a few days after it leaks. Give it some time and it will eventually pop up.

True. The tickets for the other IL show are on ticketmaster for about $26 or something. It'd be nice if they stayed the same price for the other show.

The person answering the phone at the venue usually is not the promoter nor booking agent. They just sit there and make minimum wage.

So, in addition to the touring lineup, you have three local semi-underground bands that for the most part aren't even that metal.

I mean, I'd still go to this, but it's a poor edition of Missing Link.

It's at a pretty big venue, which happens to be my favorite venue in Atlanta (holds about 2,600). There's tough security, though, and a reasonably-sized barrier so Dilllinger wouldn't be worth it. Mastodon would be, though.

What happened?

Throughout the show Brent had a ton of tech issues with his monitor, and during The Last Baron his guitar was having problems. I don't remember everything, but I remember Brent yelling at the sound guy, and Troy tripping over a cable and knocking over a mic stand in the process. The band then left the stage after which for about 20 minutes the keyboard guy did random sound loops while the band sorted their shit out. They then came out to play Crusher Destroyer and I think Crystal Skull. Brent freaked out again and walked off stage, while Troy actually talked to the audience (basically a sign that he knew we were pissed) saying "I hope you enjoyed our little festival today, this is our last song" or something to that effect. The band then started Blood and Thunder as a 3-piece, while Brent was watching from backstage with his guitar. He then joined in, but played from backstage while talking to his girlfriend/groupie person. You could only see him from the first couple of rows. The show was over a full half hour before the venue's curfew.

Pretty much anyone who went to the show knows that High On Fire and Baroness upstaged Mastodon entirely, although every other act was fun as well.
