That's still mentioning :horns:

Didn't think about this, but it could still be Obscura. They may be trying to hold off the announcement until their European tour is over.

how would announcing a US tour have any bearing on their european one

AnataFan4Life

Never know, possibly could have people coming overseas for this. That or i'm just really wanting to see Obscura again and i'm finding any possible reason for them to be on this.

And today is where we find out the lineup is an April Fools joke, and the real lineup consists of deathcore and/or recycled bands.

I really hope it's not Oceano. They have plans to be on a large scale NA tour this summer after announcing they weren't breaking up.

While one bad band obviously isn't going to ruin the entire show, it would suck if they hyped up the last spot just to bring back one of the worst bands they've ever had on this tour.

Yep and they are even worse live than on disc. They were higher up on the bill last year, so it wouldn't really make sense to have them on it again this year.

Oceano played like 4th on the bill. I wouldn't mind they being like 2nd on the bill this year. Right after the opener.

Got some new info to clear some stuff up:

Obscura has something else up their sleeve for the summer after the Death tribute shows.

Due to Periphery being added to the tour, some of the bands switched lineup order. Not much, but enough.

Cannibal Corpse will have a 70 minute set.

Anymore I get, I will spread out.

YESSSSS!! Coming to Tampa finally! It hasn't come to Tampa in forever (I know last year it only went to Ft. Lauderdale). Perhaps Cannibal being on there gave Tampa some extra pull. Either way, I had been holding off getting too stoked from fear of disappointment, but now I'm VERY excited. I love almost every band on this lineup. I just need to listen to more Goatwhore, Exhumed, and Cerebral Bore and I'm golden!

Day after. SoaD is play at The Comcast Center on the 9th. So instead, I'm going to Mayhem Fest and then Summer Slaughter. If System are just going to come out with a new album by next year, I'm sure they'll do a huge tour in support of it. Maybe cheaper tickets too. So. Summer Slaughter it is.

As I've said before, this lineup is fucking flawless in my eyes. The best Summer Slaughter lineup so far by far. I'm legitmately a fan of every band (with the exception of Exhumed, but only because I haven't heard that much of their stuff). I am so fucking amped for this it's not even funny.

Rings of Saturn have pulled out of the tour.

Today is the greatest day.

Hopefully they either give Trog more time or add another sweet local band, like Gornography.

If the gods are good to me on that day, they'll add Embryonic Devourment.

I don't think you can go outside at The Rave anymore. I dunno, I was pretty sure that I couldn't last time I was there in February.

Periphery was fucking horrible live when I saw them on Thrash and Burn. Worst band there and that is truly saying something.

Yeah, they definitely won't let you do that. There was one time, however, when Obituary were playing and I don't think any of the actual Rave staff were working the show, the ticket taker was some random metal head who let me in for free and let me leave the venue and come back as I pleased. Weird.

Holy fuck there is an uproar (no pun intended) going on here in Minnesota over Reflections being on the bill in Minnesota.

Reflections is a Djenty type band, heavily influenced by After The Burial that are from the Twin Cities. And Sumerian has them on at least one shoe for the tour, the MN one.

There is also a battle of the bands going on here soon for this show with a lot of local bands competing to be the opener, and all of these bands are causing a fuckload of trouble and shit on facebook about how this band isn't worthy of being on the tour and a lot of Fag posts and death threats are going on now.

The sad part is, Reflections being on the tour in no way affects the Battle of the bands going on for this show.

Fucking hate people sometimes...

Hello fellow metalheads, we have quite a problem here in Montreal and I would be glad to have some help :D

The Summer Slaughter 2012 tour in Montreal and Toronto will be merged with the Heavy MTL and Heavy TO festivals and the concert promoter, evenko, is stubbornly excluding Cerebral Bore from the lineup. If you're on facebook, please post on the Heavy MTL page (http://www.facebook.com/HeavyMTL), asking for Cerebral Bore to be added. The band themselves are pissed that they can't play those fests, and many people here in Canada would like them to serve a death metal lesson to the kids at the festivals.

Before Friday Night I saw BTBAm Twice. Once in 2007 and Progressive Nation 2008. I only heard Colors at both shows.

Don't get me wrong, I love the album to death. But Ive now seen White Walls 3 times in a total of 2 and a half hours of shows (Colors played in full in 2007, half hour at PN 2008 and this summer Slaughter)

Yes, The Grove has two stages. The sidestage is outside. In the past when I've been there they have some of the lower touring bands play last on the sidestage. So there's a good chance that Cerebral Bore and Conducting from the Grave will be playing outside during Veil of Maya and The Faceless or something like that.

I'm saying this because of my previous experiences. I've seen the Summer Slaughter tour at this venue before and that is what they did. And if a local band is opening the mainstage like XDoomsayerX said, it leads me to believe they will be doing this again.

Also, I'm beginning to doubt that CoB and DEP will be on next year. Remember last year when they said that 1349 or Skeletonwitch would be on the bill and it turned out to be mostly deathcore? Unless both of them rejected the SS offer, I'm betting that this is going to be the case for next year.

Plus, you know, there's the whole "Children of Bodom in club shows most of the time" deal. Both times I've seen them, they've played at places that easily hold more than 1,300 people. Summer Slaughter (at least in my experience - I don't know about elsewhere) hits up clubs that have that as maximum capacity when the fire marshal isn't looking.

It'd be nice to see Gojira on there. Good exposure for them and I'd finally get to see them.

The only downside is they'd be stuck with one of those shitty 25 minute opening sets, but unless some other tour brings them out here I'd just have to live with that.

They just made two more posts on Facebook:

GOJIRA?

and

The BLACK DAHLIA MURDER?

So if SS 2013 is (so far):

Children of Bodom
The Black Dahlia Murder
The Dillinger Escape Plan
Gojira

Then I'm all in.

I'm willing to bet that Gojira turns down Slaughter and does a spring headlining tour everywhere they didn't hit up this year.

Well if that's the case, I take back everything I said. That would be great as long as they don't end up at some obscure venue in downtown LA.

Remember last year when they said that 1349 or Skeletonwitch would be on the bill and it turned out to be mostly deathcore?

Yes 4/10 bands but I still think that years was the best. Darkest Hour/TBDM combo was siiiick. Plus Fetus and Fleshgod. 2009 was nice too but going into that show I had no clue who any of those bands were.

I wouldnt really believe any SS Facebook post until closer to announcements, however Behemoth makes a ton of sense.

Especially since it's supposedly Devin Townsend/Gojira.

Also lulz at all the tards calling Gojira "core" on facebook.

Trust me on this one, I can't go into detail, but that tour is not happening in the next few months. Maybe summer or fall, but the next two times they tour, it won't be together.

Am I the only one who thinks the last couple of Summer Slaughters were a joke? Usually just one good band, two or three decent bands I'd watch on a better bill and crappy deathcore. They've only been going downhill since the first one, with the exception of whichever year Suffocation & Origin were on it, because here in NY they split it into two nights; one with all the death metal bands, and the other with Suicide Silence or whatever.

I thought this year's was great.

2007 - Necrophagist w/ Decapitated (pre-accident), Cephalic Carnage, Cattle Decap, The Faceless, As Blood Runs Black, Arsis, Ion Dissonance, Beneath the Massacre. The good easily outweighs the bad.

2008 - Black Dahlia Murder w/ Kataklysm, Vader, Cryptopsy, The Faceless, Despised Icon, Aborted, BoO, Psycroptic, Whitechapel. Honestly, one of the best lineups they've had, to me.

2009 - Necrophagist and Suffocation w/ Ensiferum, Darkest Hour, WoP, Dying Fetus, BoO, Origin, Beneath the Massacre, After the Burial, Decrepit Birth, Blackguard. Amazing stuff, but you can kinda see the crappy stuff start to creep up.

2010 - Decapitated (post-accident) w/ The Faceless, All Shall Perish, The Red Chord, Veil of Maya, Decrepit Birth, Cephalic Carnage, Animals As Leaders, Carnifex, Vital Remains. Easily the worst lineup for me. No idea what they were thinking when they booked most of these bands.

2011 - The Black Dahlia Murder and Whitechapel w/ Darkest Hour, Six Feet Under, Dying Fetus, As Blood Runs Black, Oceano, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Powerglove, Within The Ruins. Another horrible lineup, only a few bands save it from being the worst.

2012 - Cannibal Corpse and BTBAM w/ The Faceless, Periphery, Veil of Maya, JFAC, Goatwhore, Exhumed, Cerebral Bore. Although some of the bands here are bad, most of the good ones are new bands that are fucking amazing.

My suggestions - stop using the same bands over and over. I don't want Summer Slaughter to turn into Mayhem Fest. I like The Faceless, but give 'em a rest. Only one I don't mind seeing again is Necrophagist. SS to me is Necrophagist's tour.

2009 was awesome, that was one of my very first shows. Origin, Dying Fetus, Suffocation and Necrophagist were all great.

This year was pretty boring overall, except it was my first time seeing Cannibal Corpse, so that was the reason I went. I do like some of the openers they had like Goatwhore and The Faceless but I'd seen them all before and they got short sets. Exhumed was great too of course but I've seen them before too and I'll be seeing them probably get a longer set on that Napalm Death tour.

I always try to keep in perspective that this is a death metal/deathcore hybrid tour and they're always going to split the bill between those two genres. If not deathcore, they'll always have death metal and mix it up with something different like Between the Buried and Me this year (who I've never really cared for).

It really irked me that Whitechapel was a co-headliner last year though, what a waste.

Unfortunately Ensiferum and Decrepit Birth weren't at the date I went to. Since Decrepit Birth tours a ton I've seen them a lot since then, but I haven't seen Ensiferum.

I fondly remember Summer Slaughter 2009. My first Summer Slaughter. From Origin's guitar fucking up, to getting socked in the eye during Dying Fetus, to the outstanding performance by Suffocation, to finally getting to see Necrophagist. It was truly a magical time. :rocker:

I wouldn't mind any of those rumored bands, but I'd prefer TDEP or Gojira since I haven't seen either of them yet. I've seen COB and TBDM five and eight times respectively, so I'd definitely prefer something different.

Hmm, 2012 isn't quite as bad as I remembered it. No outright terrible bands, just boring and mediocre ones, with the rest pretty much being "on a better bill." Frankly, BTBAM would be the "good" band for me, as they're the only one I would be interested in that I haven't seen multiple times.

Not that I have much invested in this tour anyway, but I'm in total agreement with keeping The Faceless off it. And honestly, Necrophagist too, until they start playing some new fucking songs.

I think we should keep The Faceless as a static entry in all predictions at this point .

Since Ash is the organizer we are guaranteed to have at least one more Sumerian band - likely After The Burial, BoO, Veil of Maya or Enfold Darkness - I guess Upon a Burning Body...not sure how they would fit.

I like the idea of Behemoth as headliner much more than DEP or CoB, they are great bands but just don't feel like Slaughter headlining material. They can fill most of the same venues (if not larger) on their own that SS plays. There are still plenty of other options for great death metal bands that I don't feel they need repeats yet. Off the top of my head: Atheist, Obituary, Carcass, Deicide, Bolt Thrower, Possessed, etc.

I love Dahlia but would prefer they do their own headline tour instead. They play a few songs more and have WAY better support bands. On top of it, they have headlined this twice and if it keeps up, they might as well be headliner every 2 years. Summer Slaughter needs FRESH HEADLINERS.

and lets be real here and NOT base how this impending line up will be set on personal preference. Morbid Angel couldn't headline over BDM. and yes i am a fan of MA. But thats the truth.

I hope Gojira or Morbid or both take this show. I have that and i am gravy and mashed potatoes.

WOuld not be surprised if a fuck load of repeats happen. O well i got MDF for a shitload of bands i have not seen!

It's October. Its way too fucking early to be talking about the lineup.

I learned this last year from talking to Obscura. they were a shoe in back last October, and look how much they won over new fans at Summer Slaughter this year....oh wait...

Say any of the bands discussed are actually on the bill right now, there's no guarantee that they will stay on the bill.

Unless it's in Jan-March 2013, let's calm down on the tour discussions till.....2013.
