Rumor has it he doesn't care.

I guess if Slipknot, Korn, 5FDP, Skeletonwitch, Whitechapel etc aren't on here then he should hang his head in shame and never EVER come back!!!

sad face, I was kinda really hoping theyd be there.

You're right. I'd lose a ton of respect for them.

Even though we have no idea who is on here (for the most part), I can now confirm another band that was in the onslaught of rumors that will not be on Mayhem Fest.... Asking Alexandria. A kid I went to high school with posted on Facebook yesterday that his band will be opening for Skrillex and Asking Alexandria on June 28th (All Stars Tour Maybe? Even if it's not I can already confirm that I will be avoiding that tour like the fucking plague.)

I had a feeling Asking Alexandria wasn't a band that would do Mayhem, that's a relief

As I Lay Dying tweeted "1.25.12"

then again they just announced they're headlining a stage at some Christian music festival

Steev
01-25-2012, 06:36 AM
there's also a radio station in Idaho supposedly announcing the lineup in the coming hour

Not jiving with what I was told but I'll gladly be wrong. Slayer + Motorhead > Korn + 5FDP.

"We have announced the lineup for Mayhem Fest: Slipknot, Slayer, Anthrax, (another HUGE headliner that will be announced officially on March 5th), As I Lay Dying, The Devil Wears Prada, Asking Alexandria, Whitechapel, High On Fire and a local band will play as well. It's happening at the Idaho Center on July 4th, tickets on sale on Feb. 10th at 10 a.m. including 3000 discount tix. It's the best and only way to celebrate the holiday and the show will kick ass. See you there!!"

hard time believing this based on a few things, but FUCK YEAH to High On Fire being on if true

if that's true then Motorhead basically screwed with me so the word wouldn't get out

but even so that lineup doesn't have enough bands, waiting to see more information

detuned
01-25-2012, 07:07 AM
haha screwed, dude they were just deflecting, let it go

as for enough bands, perhaps they are scaling it back this year

Steev
01-25-2012, 07:11 AM
I don't see why they would, 12 bands is modest for a festival(I stopped counting the Jager band because Camden gets the same fucking one every year and Ive just started skipping them)

I hope that's not the lineup. The vast contrast between good and shit pisses me off, a Slayer / Motorhead / Anthrax / HoF tour would be great.

01-25-2012, 07:53 AM
If that's the line-up then I'll be there. I love Slayer, Motorhead, Anthrax, Slipknot, Prada, AILD, High on Fire and Whitechapel!

WOLVERINEKILLS
01-25-2012, 07:57 AM
Scaling back on bands is ok as long as the bands get about 10 minutes added to their sets. It allows the show to start later which means less sun beating down upon us in the middle of summer. It also means more known bands as they have 3 less bands to pay & can spend that on better bands. Of course they'll probably have 12 bands when they officially announce it.

Asking Alexandria and The Devil Wears Prada pretty much ruin the line-up for me. All the other bands are at least ok in my opinion.

Nater
01-25-2012, 08:29 AM
I must be the only one who finds the entire line-up kinda meh. I mean the main stage is alright but I couldn't imagine paying the ticket prices and showing up late to this thing and not being a bit disapointed. Besides. The fact that High on Fire is stuck down in the bowels of the fest is pretty sad. Hopefully they play an off date up this way like Red Fang did last year. I see no reason to pay more then $40 for this thing is it's another year I pass on it.

great lineup, not a fan of Asking Alexandria though, will defiantly use their set as an advantage to go get some over priced food.

moobys37
01-25-2012, 08:45 AM
Absolutely terrible. No interest in seeing High on Fire play for 25 minutes outside during the middle of the day. Who thought it was a good idea to put Asking Alexandria and The Devil Wears Prada on this? At least this is the day after my birthday and not my actual birthday so I might be able to go to a show my birthday weekend.

I was going to flip out if Anthrax didn't get a headline set, but one of the others bands did.

AnthG
01-25-2012, 08:57 AM
Meh, only band I really like is Slipknot. Anthrax is ok, and Slayer puts on a decent live show, but I can't see myself shelling out a ton of cash for this. Then again it's not coming to Canada anyway so whatever.

Steev
01-25-2012, 09:07 AM
Gonna say it, biggest surprise was Slayer(no new album, Jeff presumably not healthy)

Good enough lineup(not a fan of 3 of the bands), bummed they only have 2 stages(the best part about the 3 was you could actually get a spot for a band playing on it because majority of the crowd went back and forth).

hiddenzombie013
01-25-2012, 09:15 AM
Pretty solid lineup overall. My biggest gripe is that I've seen pretty much all of the bands already though. Slipknot and High on Fire are the only two I haven't seen (and Motorhead, if that rumor is true). Still though, Slayer is always kick-ass, I've become a much bigger fan of AILD since last time I saw them, and Whitechapel is one I've been looking forward to seeing again for awhile. I'm bummed about Anthrax though, only for the fact that they're gonna be here next week, and I really want to see Testament. Looks like I'll be seeing Anthrax twice this year.

They've said they're writing a new album and Jeff's arm is almost good to go.

So is Slipcock the headliners? Or are they going to announce the headliners march 5th? Is slayer the 2nd to last band or is there going to be one more band announced for the main stage? Also i donna whats with all the haters, High on Fire, Anthrax, Skeletonwhich, Motorhead and SLAYER are all cool in my book. I will go to this. That would be epic if they just put all these bands on one stage. The side stage or something. Smaller lawn stage equals more intense moshing and action. :rocker:

@ Steev about Jeffs Condition....FUCK.... :(

also Skeletonwitch is NOT playing, they're nowhere to be seen on the lineup

so the main stage "guest" is announced on March 5th

Gigantour ends on March 3rd

BUT

KoRn's headlining run ends on March 4th

just throwing a wrench in the gears ;)

im a go with Motorhead. It would pretty stupid if Korn is really going to be playing again ESPECIALLY since they already played Mayhem fest last year! Also probably a bad example but Korn is already going to be here in San Bernadino for the Cypress hill Smoke out fest. I just don't see them returning like 2 months later to do mayhem fest(Which is also at san berndino). Pretty dumb if you ask me.

Well....

I was really hoping slipknot might do their own headlining tour; I was going to see them in 2009 in Colorado Springs but then Joey hurt his ankle and they canceled

And as for Slayer..come on guys another supporting tour? Please do your own tour soon....and maybe this means Jeff is going to be better? If not do they call Gary Holt again?

That being said it is a very good line up imo and I will go to the Denver show; hopefully they are going to do those $10 lawn ticket deals again or something cheap like that

Hey could have been a lot worse in terms of lineup

Steev

people going to see KoRn and a bunch of dubstep DJs are most likely not the crowd you would have at Mayhem(and they headlined in '10, not last year)
