I voted for Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. Powerslave would be my close second.

A Matter of Life and Death, no question. My favorite album of all time. Any answer here is acceptable though.

Seventh Son gets my vote.

Of course you can't go wrong with picking anything between '82-'88 with Maiden since that five album run is just about the best in metal history.

What they've released since Bruce got back with them has been equally impressive as well.

I was thinking about creating a poll like this with one of the more universally loved bands on here like Maiden or Megadeth. It makes for a better discussion if a poll can get the majority of everyone to chime in on it unlike the CC and Death polls.

I'm surprised NOTB doesn't have any votes. That's easily my #2 pick, followed by SIT. 7th Son might be tied with Powerslave if it weren't for Can I Play With Madness.

Ha ha, I knew when I saw that AMOLAD had one vote that it was yours. I also love that disc, but could not rank it higher than Powerslave. It would be in my top 5 though.

I'm a bit surprised NOTB doesn't have any votes either. But the poll is still young and I know PowerMaiden will be voting for it for sure.

7th Son is my favorite album, of any band.
Easy choice. Then Brave New World. Or Powerslave. Or Somewhere in Time.

NOTB. The guitar tone is heavy and crunchy, Bruce sounds like a rabid wolf ready to tear your throat out, and classic song after classic song.

I can't imagine what it was like to be a metalhead in 1983 putting on NOTB for the first time and hearing "Invaders." My head would have exploded.

I didn't get into Maiden until the early 90s but my head still exploded when I heard Invaders for the first time:rocker:

Not surprised someone did. It's a great album. I'd place that and Fear of The Dark above some of the "classic" records.

Yes, along with several others.

I agree The X Factor is a very good album. But Blazes voice brings it down a bit for me. He just sounds too depressed on it. I've always thought that if Bruce sang on the album it would easily be one of their top ones.

Your obvious trolling is simply astounding.

I don't think he's trolling, I don't care for that song at all and other than Gangland, is the worst song on the album.

As for voting, I'm just another slave to the power of death.

Your obvious trolling is simply astounding.

Two things. Firstly, something can't be both obvious and astounding, unless it's obviously astounding.

Secondly, I'm not trolling. Invaders is on my list of 10 or so Maiden songs which suck. Along with 'Gangland', as El Gordo said.

Sanitarium78
08-21-2011, 08:23 AM
I've always liked Ivaders but Gangland isn't that good. It's just a filler song. I think it would've been better if they had Total Eclipse in it's place on the original release.

In all honesty I don't care for 3/8 of NOTB, hence why I think it's easily the worst of the 5 "Golden Era" records.

Actually it was more like seeing Run to the Hills on MTV every other hour and having to have the album. Finally getting it, sitting down with friends and not really getting Invaders at first. Then the magic happened. Children of the Damned and The Prisoner blew us all away. The vocals in COTD were mind blowing to us. All Priest fans but still never hearing anything quite like that vocally and how he carried that note. The intro to Prisoner was so cool and mental image provoking. It then sets the opening riff up masterfully. Yeah I was a Maiden fan for life at that exact moment. Still to this day 2 of the best 5 Maiden songs I've ever heard.

Factor in Hallowed be Thy Name being one of the 5 best songs ever penned by ANY band and this is a no-brainer for me. Powerslave 2nd and POM 3rd.

It probably has something to do with how Godly their output with Bruce was from '82-'88 and then from 2000 onward.

I think i'm one of the few that likes No Prayer better than Fear. It was painfully obvious after listening to FOTD that the band needed a major change of some kind. It just wasn't there for me on that album. There's a couple good songs but most of just isn't very good.

As for NPFTD, I think Tailgunner, No Prayer For The Dying, Public Enema Number One, Fates Warning , The Assassin, Run Silent Run Deep and Mother Russsia are pretty good songs.

I think their first three and No Prayer For The Dying have a rawer sound than FOTD. More people don't like because it just doesn't mussure up with the old stuff. Iron Maiden wrote the book on how to write and perform metal to perfection in 80s.
