It's gonna be interesting to see what kind of sound Meshuggah will have on the next album, with the recent "djent" explosion.

Good point, I hadn't thought about that. I'm sure it'll be Meshuggah doing their thing and absolutely owning everyone in the djent scene. Then everyone else will be scrambling to get their shit together so they can fail at trying to sound the same. Ok probably not, but Meshuggah will still pwn all of them.

Man, I want this to be good, but ObZen was so fucking perfect that I'm having a hard time envisioning them creating a better record.

I don't remember where I read it, but someone in Meshuggah said their next CD was gonna sound more like their first CD.

So more of a thrashy sound?

It could be their way of trying to differentiate themselves from all of the "djent" bands that spawned from their sound recently.

I actually have to disagree with you jd. I think it would be cool to hear Meshuggah pull off a tech-thrash album.

I like the sound of that, they had a good style on the first album but the songwriting just wasn't quite there.
