Instead of fog machines, opt for scented candles.

I always thought a cool idea for a band would be to tell the history of the planet. Like, each album is a different era in time. Call the band The Paleontologist or something like that.

Novel idea right here:

Forget gimmicks and concentrate on writing great songs.

I had this idea in recent times about having a sludge/doom/tech death hybrid band called Ghosts of Planet Earth with a creepy ass alien theme.

Kind of like a Faceless rip off... but not.

Alright so kind of a Faceless rip off. BUT WITH SLUDGE!

That sounds awesome, but I'm not sure if it would work

You should have an anti-Isralei band, and dress like philistines. Hang up maps at concerts that show the cantons east of Jerusalem. Name it Achish.

 DO IT!

Seriously though, I had two of the greatest ideas ever:

In high school, my friend and I always had this idea to form a Blackened Death Metal band called Moloch. It would be named after the old pagan diety Moloch, a god that people would sacrifice children to. According to my friend, there would be these giant states of Moloch, hollowed out, and with fires in them. The mouth would be open, and the arms of the statue could be raised up to it's mouth. The babies would be placed into the hands, then the arms would be raised as the babies fell into their mouth to their fiery demise. We would have one of those on stage, and dress up in paint and "cool" armor, like behemoth.

More recently, I had the idea floating around in my head for a progressive sludge or progressive death band called Staghorn Agony. Either in the veins of Mastodon or Baroness, or even Opeth. Not 100% sure. We would be centered around deer, elk and moose skulls, and would feature them heavily on our stage. Maybe we would wear robes, like Sunn O))).

Realistically, my other friend and I might start a metalcore/hardcore band. He can actually scream rather well, I think I play guitar decent, and we know a drummer. Now we just need to get off our lazy asses this summer and start it!

I'm a sucker for Sci-Fi tech death bands. They are always awesome, and have the best lyrics. Get on that shit!

I think if the Goddamn Gallows can make a black metal infused bluegrass song, then I think can take it up a notch and make it work. Look up their cover of In League With Satan on youtube, some awesome shit.

I know a bunch of hipster in college who play folk music/banjoes, etc, and also think they like metal. Cannabis Corpse primarily. Now I'm not saying you're a hipster, but the market for a bluegrass/metal crossover band is definitely out there.

Well yeah a lot of hipsters are into that style that Mumford and Sons is playing and what not. I'm talking bout the raw shit that hipsters don't really hit up. I keep talking about my obsession for Goddamn Gallows and 357 String Band too much here haha, but you should look them up.

They played that on the PA after their show when I saw them in 2010, I think.
