This was one of the most fun concerts I've been to in a long time. I even brought my dad along because he kinda likes The Sword.
Zoroaster was first. We tried to show up late for them, but unfortunately, we had to suffer through 10-15 min of them. Truthfully, though, they weren't all that bad. Much better than the last time I saw them at a record store, not nearly as loud even with earplugs.
Kylesa was next! I love these guys and was excited as hell to see them. In fact, I came to see them, for the most part. They had some sweet psychedelic lighting going on, illuminating the walls. They sounded alright, as far as the Masquerade's shitty acoustics go anyway, It did take them a few songs to get warmed up, though.
Since I'm not that familiar with their new album, I don't know a lot of the songs on their set. Consequently, I didn't really like their new songs any better live, so apart from the five songs I recognized, they were pretty meh. I really liked “Running Red," though. They added some really heavy distortion on that riff in the bridge. My only complaint in terms of song choice was that they left out “Where the Horizon Unfolds.”

Scapegoat
Hollow Severer
Now, I've never actually listened to The Sword before. Like I said, I came for Kylesa, and I got my dad a CD by them for his birthday (okay, so I previewed some songs on iTunes). But hot damn, they were on fire. I will admit they got repetitive after a while but goddamn were they good while they lasted. Not only that, but this is probably the most fun concert I've been to in terms of physical activity. Normally, I don't mosh, because I hate running inside a circle, but the pits for The Sword were really close and tight. Also, I stage-dived a couple times. I'm pretty shy so I never would've asked on my own, but a couple of guys volunteered to hoist me up so that was cool of them. The first time, the security guy didn't catch me in time so I just fell, but it didn't hurt. The second time, they threw me up and I just landed on my feet. And then my pants fell down
Since I'd never listened to them before, I don't have a setlist, but I can tell you that they played “Tears of Fire,” To Take the Black,” "How Heavy This Axe,” and a song that contained the lyrics “age of winters.”
Oh, and contrary to what my forum signature may have suggested, I did not get stoned for them ;)
