You're balking for this at $30? That's practically free.

Seriously, that is ridiculously cheap.

Let's put that in context. Here, the Dio Disciples show costs twice that.

 You got that right.

Slight miscalculation on my part, by the way. Dio Disciples is 1.5 times that. John Mayall is twice that.

I wouldn't say it's "practically free" but it's not terrible for 8 bands.

I wouldn't say it's "practically free" but it's not terrible for 8 bands.

For eight bands I certainly would.

You people need to spend a few months here. You'll go home and think you're practically being paid to go to shows.

More bands will be announced still. Last year it was more on the crust/grind/hxc edge

I noticed that in the past when I was looking at shows in Europe. Shows are a lot more expensive overseas. :eyes:

And regardless of prices in Europe, in comparison to other shows here $30 is a very fair price for that amount of quality bands.

I'm with the tortuga. $30 for anything less than a day long festival staring I band I absolutely love or Iron Maiden is not worth it.
I'll take my $5 punk shows.

california never gets any shows, especially never any free shows, so spending $30 on PENTAGRAM, WINTER, TRAP THEM, PELICAN, MASAKARI AND MORE is just quite out of the picture.

Yeah, it's either that or perhaps those of us who can't afford to see every show between CA and Russia might opt to spend the hard to come by cash on multiple small shows as opposed to a decent sized show with a headlining band that, although I love the records, I've heard unanimously negative reviews of on their last tour(even from diehard fans.)

I know. The joke is that even though they have so much money, they never want to use it, hence they are being cheap. Guilty as charged :allan:

But really, it's only $30. Get a job or something dude.

As far as the bands go on this list that I've seen live, I can vouch for Trap Them and All Pigs Must Die being extremely entertaining. I don't think you'll be disappointed with them.

Both days look like a blast. Have fun.

Looks like the first SF show sold out. I'm at the Elbo Room now, and although there were rumors of extra tickets coming available, it doesn't look like it's gonna happen. Heading over to Mezzanine now to see about getting tickets for tomorrow night.

OK, so there was nobody home at the Mezzanine. Apparently the club is not open on non-event nights or something. Not a problem, as I used the opportunity to locate Amoeba Records, where I'll be on Thursday evening for any of you NorCal fucks who have the guts to show your faces in the presence of The Nat.

After that, I came home and ordered a ticket for Night 2 of POTR, and I just printed it out. Masakari, Pelican and Pentagram - here I come.

But no, seriously - I'd love to run into any of you guys from this part of the country...it's not like I make it out here that often.

I'll probably be at Amoeba around 7:00, judging by the travel time it took me today. I'm sure I'll be there at least an hour or so. If you really want to make specific plans, just PM me and I'll try to check it some time early tomorrow.

On second thought, I'm gonna make a separate thread for this. Link to follow.

EDIT: Here's the link to the gig report (http://www.metalsetlists.com/showthread.php?t=19551).

EDIT2: This thread also reminds me...I never posted about my haul from Amoeba Records either. I should do that.
