If you don't know DIAMOND PLATE from Chicago, IL yet, you will by the end of the year. Earache picked them up and will be releasing their first full length this year. Great old school thrash sound from these youngsters.

In clearing out my collection, I found the following 2 CDs of theirs:
- THRASH CLASH - Split CD with OPPRESSION (numbered)
- RELATIVITY EP (self released)

Both these discs are out of print, and will be true rarities as this band will be tearing up the thrash scene at large soon enough (and already have been if you are into the underground US thrash scene).

If interested, please let me know.
Thanks.

I think we're all expecting greatness from them.

Yes, I mean nothing against the current wave of thrash revival bands, but Diamond Plate blows them all away in terms of staying true to the classic thrash sound. What's nuts is these guys are all still teens I believe!

I probably should wait a year to sell these as their value will skyrocket.

Absolutely agree. They copy stuff very well indeed. Musically I like them and think that at some point they could very well write something original that will be outstanding. Original would be a start though. Sadly (for me) I don't like the vocals at all.

I probably should wait a year to sell these as their value will skyrocket.

Unless they become Metallica or Slayer, which they won't, this won't happen. Unless by "skyrocket" you mean "reach $20". Shit just doesn't go that way anymore unless it's a band who get seriously big.

WHAT??????????
Go look up what rare AGALLOCH or GHOST items go for these days.

To say you need to reach METALLICA status for your rarities to get pricey is quite a false statement, IMHO.

Rare Ghost stuff was worth $150+ less than a year after it came out, I think Diamond Plate missed that opportunity. Plus the Elizabeth 7" and demo were each limited to less than 1,000 copies, and there was a collectors hipster frenzy when the full length deal was signed. And with a few very specific exceptions, limited vinyl>>limited CDs for collectiblity.

You missed the point.
I was replying simply to the statement that a band has to reach METALLICA - like status to have their rarities go for a lot.

Will it happen for DIAMOND PLATE?
Maybe, maybe not...

I do agree though with your assessment that GHOST, as well as AGALLOCH, pull from the hipster crowd who do pay collector's prices, more easily than the average metalhead.

Ah well.......
Bottom line is that DP are a young and promising band who I expect good things from in the future.
