Nice. I'm betting it'll be in one of the football stadiums.

"Maybe we'll do somewhere in the Midwest and South, too. Still, I don't think it will turn into a 40-date arena tour; that would make it less special. I like the fact that there's an element of chaos to the whole thing. It shouldn't be sterile, streamlined and perfect: it needs an edgy underbelly to remain authentic."

Well done for listening to the fans, Lars.

I also gotta give Lars credit for turning down Tom Araya's offer to do "Four Horseman"

If I had to take a guess I'd say the new Meadowlands Stadium in NJ

I was being sarcastic.

If it's in a reasonable distance then maybe. I'm not gonna fly to New York or anything like that, though I bet they will try and do New Meadowlands or some shit.

Just do the Citrus Bowl (1), Cowboys Stadium(2), and New Meadowlands(3) call it a day.

(referring to the size of those stadiums) honestly, if I want to see a band and all I can get is nosebleed section and can barely see the band it's not even worth going.

I take back everything I said before about the one-off show. I'm making a definite effort to make this.

I heard a rumor of NY getting the East Coast date. I am sure Chicago will vet the midwest date.

going back to what I said, because even though Meadowlands is NJ it caters to the NY area(Giants and Jets play there)

I feel like it'd be too disasterous to have it in NYC

For a country the size of the USA, only two dates is still poor. 3 dates at the very least are needed for this.

To put it into perspective of why you need more than two:

Europe's land in square miles:
3,930,000

USA's land in square miles:
3,717,813

Europe will have had 11 dates by the end of this tour. Meaning USA should get at least 9 dates if we are gonna make this balanced.

I think the amount of land in square miles is insignificant compared to the amount of people that will turn out for these shows. It might not be quite the case for the Big 4 (one would think they could have a larger number of successful shows here than currently projected) that it is for other bands, but as a general rule, Europe shows just draw more than U.S. shows. It's sad but true (pun intended).

It comes down to population density, moreso than actual land mass. Europe has a bigger population density per capita, thus more people that will come out for the shows. Unfortunately, this directly affects shows like this. They are gonna make people travel for a few dates to guarantee every one of them sells out the biggest places they can manage, rather than do a full sweep. Iron Maiden have adopted the same strategy, sucks, but thems are just the breaks.

That would be awesome. I would think an east coast show would be done in the NYC area, Philly or Boston. I would make that roadtrip doable somehow. None of those places are horribly far from me.

I could a show possibly at Randall's Island, if they want to stick with the whole outdoors/festival approach.

I remember seeing U2 (who yes are huge) playing at a stadium called Fedex field nearby in Landover, MD, which is a stones throw away from Washington, DC. Perhaps we'll get a DC/MD date..one can hope!

I make this same point every time someone in the UK complains that bands only play shows in London. I've given up now. They never understand.

I'm just saying the average American Metallica fan is a radio Metallica fan and they are idiots. They would surely drop $100 for this show.

Then you have your wanna be Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax fan who will go just so they can say they were there. I can see them doing 5 shows and each being a blow out.
