I wish I could say I'm surprised, but sadly I am not. Nevertheless, this is a damn shame. Matt was an amazing guitarist, the closest we'll ever see to a second Criss Oliva. Very proud to say I've met him, seen him play live, and even shared the stage with him within the same night. RIP. :(

This news really brought my night down, but I'll be playing Jon Olivia's Pain in his honor.

Agreed, I really can't say I'm surprised. One of the few guys around who looked less healthy than Jon himself.

This is very sad. He was an amazing guitarist. When I saw Jon Oliva's Pain we were in the very front against the stage, and we were on his/Jon's side. Truly some of the best performances I've ever seen.
