British producer Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, ARCH ENEMY, NEVERMORE, EXODUS) has revealed to Radio Metalthat he will enter the studio this summer with San Francisco Bay Area metal veterans TESTAMENT to begin work on the follow-up to 2008's "The Formation Of Damnation". A late 2011/early 2012 release is expected.

"The new album will most likely be a culmination of 'The Gathering' [1999] and 'The Formation of Damnation', but we're definitely not going to forget who we are or our roots. I think we've found a comfortable spot in our writing style," TESTAMENT vocalist Chuck Billy stated in a 2010 interview.

-pictures with the band
-4 picks(2 were Alex's)
-signed poster, 8x10, laminate, and skate deck(that was from a raffle)
-Affliction shirt(which is actually really nice)

Hopefully they don't do the whole 'new album is in the works for six years' thing they did with TFOD, and hopefully it's better too. I didn't care much for TFOD save for a few tracks. Looking forward to it regardless.

We got them, I think, four times.

Once supporting Priest. Two headlining tours. And a one-off show.

I should have seen them five times, but only ended up with three. I arrived too late to see their set opening for Priest and Megadeth, and got held up for 45 minutes at the gate to Tuska Open Air in Helsinki, missing their set there too.

I did however get to see them at Sweden Rock Festival, and headlining in London twice, one of which was the one-off show where they play all of 'The Legacy' and all of 'The New Order' back-to-back.

I'd be more than happy if they did such extensive touring again.

Now that is some sick album art. I really dig the bonus tracks they have for the CD/DVD too, that's defintely a good incentive to spring for a more expensive version! I'd pick up the vinyl, but it looks like it won't have that extended version of Throne of Thorns. Especially if they do crappy picture discs again, I'll probably hold off on the vinyl this time around.

What do you mean "one of three"? So you're pretty much stating that Testament, a thrash band, has only three thrash tunes on their new record?

BloodoftheKings

The new song is good but I wasn't blown away. It might seem a little early to jump to conclusions like this but I feel the new record is going to be solid but not nearly as good as Formation.

I mean precisely what I said. There are three out-and-out heavy, thrashy songs, and that is one of them. As stated already a few weeks ago the album is predominently melodic. The longest song is a ballad.

I think it's a better album than Formation.

To be completely honest, True American Hate was fucking awesome. This song on the other hand....is not. I'm not a fan of the cheesy lyrics and cheesy chorus. After hearing all of the 90 second previews today, I still have that feeling that Formation will remain the better album. This record feels too "sing-along" to me. Very anthem-like. Doesn't seem to have that "punch you in the face" feel to it. Who knows...

I disagree. This sounds like it will be a much better album than Formation. Of course, these are only 90 second samples and I really didn't care for Formation apart from a couple songs, so take this with a grain of salt.

CD sales have been down for awhile now but this number is actually pretty good.

I read the new Anthrax has sold around 100,000 copies at this point. Metal bands that are well known in the genre like Anthrax usually get between 20,000-30,000 copies sold the first week of sales in recent years. For Testament this is huge though. I'm pretty sure they've never debuted this high on the billboard charts in their career. The band has never had a huge hit and just missed making it as a big mainstream metal band back in the late 80s and early 90s. So for them to get in the same neighborhood of sales as the new Anthrax did is a pretty big deal. It shows that old fans haven't forgotten about them and that they've gained new ones as well.

I've been looking for this... it's not on Youtube or anywhere on the internet as far as I can tell. Does anyone have a link to it? I just want to hear it! It's my favourite Testament song and I'd love to see if Skolnick did anything different with the solo!
