I've been listening to a lot of video game music on YouTube this weekend; Final Fantasy's, Ninja Gaidens, all the stuff I grew up with and have fond memories of. Then I came across the music from Chrono Trigger. Brought back so many memories, and as I cycled through the songs I found that I'd favorited pretty much everything.

So that's my favorite, of all time, Chrono Trigger

Here's a few of my favorites:

For original music, Final Fantasy X, X-2.

Otherwise, Tony Hawk's Underground 2.

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, hands down.

Then probably Super Mario 64. Dire, Dire Docks? Holy shit.

THPS4 got me into metal, but you probably mean score, so...Chrono Cross, I guess.

My favorite two game ost's are the Diablo and Warcraft series, and the first Halo game.

Classic answer would be Ocarina of Time (zelda series in general) for what has been my favorite for a real long time. But I actually enjoy a lot of video game OSTs, since some pretty brilliant writing and arranging goes into them from time to time.

My recent (ok, like past year and a half) favorite videogames music is definitely from Touhou Project though. I don't care how nerdy that makes me, ZUN writes music some bands could only hope to create. A personal favorite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETTk83qis0w

Oh god, I've been in love with video game music since a kid playing Sonic the Hedgehog in on my neighbor's Genesis. Speaking of which, OCRemix has an album out from that game for its 20th anniversary: http://sos.ocremix.org/

Here's a partial list of some of my favorite video game music: Sonic 1, 2, and 3. Megaman 2. C&C Red Alert 2 and 3 and C&C Generals. Halo. Alan Wake had a pretty great soundtrack. Kind of brain farting right now, but needless to say <3 video game music.

Halo has some of the best music, agreed.

Yeah, the first time you fire up Halo 1 and hear the chanting it leaves an impression. The music in the series has stayed surprisingly good imo. ODST's soundtrack was a little moodier, and Reach's was suitably epic.

Red Dead Redemption's score is pretty great. And I love how when you finally get to Mexico after 20ish hours of gameplay you hear vocals for the first time.

Oh yeah, I really enjoyed the soundtrack to that. I should finish that game sometime... I haven't touched it since last July and I'm still off in Mexico somewhere...

some of the first CDs i bought when i was young were soundtracks. that said, i only own two, ocarina of time and final fantasy 6. i give more credit to video game scores for piquing my interest in music than the radio or tv.

The fact that no one on Metal Setlists has said Guilty Gear XX alarms me.

Chrono Cross was one of my favorites. Some others would include Super Mario 64, Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, and God of War. I'm sure I'm missing a few though

I've been listening to a lot of the ambient music from Skyrim the last few weeks. It takes me back to playing the game and makes me forget how frustrated I was when I stopped playing it. Under an Ancient Sun (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hP1V9jDDQt0) is haunting.

My picks go to Sonic The Hedgehog 2 and Mega Man 2.

Any Zelda game, Final Fantasy IV and VI, although the others are good too. Earthbound's soundtrack is incredible, maybe my favorite. I also love the save room music from RE1 and Chicago: Stealth from Perfect Dark. The Mario ones rule too, someone mentioned Dire Docks earlier, I second that one for its awesomeness.
