(No, this was not a Rotting Christ off-date, I just left before them.)
Okay, so remember that I got a photo pass for the Watain show back in November for a school project? Well, I needed some more photos for the project so I contacted the same PR firm to see if I could get a pass for Abigail Williams. I'm not a fan of them, but they were on the Rotting Christ show which I had been planning to see, so why not?
I get there and the venue doesn't have me on their list. Bastards. I call the firm while waiting outside (Lecherous Nocturne was playing at that moment. From the back of the venue they sounded pretty tight), they said I should be on there, but I should call Ken from the band. He didn't pick up, which was understandable, as they were getting on stage at that very moment. I say fuck it and just pay the 20 dollars and get there in time to shoot the dumb band; I just figured it would sound silly if I asked the guy to let me in after they finished their set.
Anyways, I wasn't impressed...I wouldn't go as far as to call them deathcore, they just play really generic black metal and it's way too symphonic for my tastes.
Hate was next. Wow, these guys ruled! :rocker: I didn't even knew they wore corpseepaint, either! What a nice surprise. Pretty good stage presence, too.
They do sound exactly like Behemoth, but in this case, I don't mind.
Then came Melechesh, the band I came for. In recent months I've taken a whole flip-flop on them -- I used to love them, and then I couldn't stand them -- but I was still excited to see them live. Now, the sound at this particular venue is pretty consistently shitty, and tonight was no exception, but let's just say Melechesh persevered through. HOLY SHIT, these guys blew me away. Amazing live band:blaze: I had so much fun headbanging and screaming the few lines I know. Anyways, setlist was the same as other dates.
1. Illumination - The Face of Shamash
2. Sacred Geometry
3. Deluge of Delusional Dreams
4. Ladders to Sumeria
5. Grand Gathas of Baal Sin
6. Triangular Tattvic Fire
7. Ghouls of Nineveh
8. Rebirth of the Nemesis
Also, Melechesh had a buy 1 shirt, get one free sale, but I only had 10 bucks after that stupid ordeal, so I ask the merch lady if I can buy one at half-price. I was rejected :( I didn't think it was that much to ask for though, Publix does it all the time.
Anyways, I'll add photos soon. I didn't really like the stage lighting at this place, and I'm too goddamn self-conscious to walk into the photo pit (the barrier between the stage and the crowd), so I don't think these photos were as good as Watain, but I got a couple good ones, I think.
