Tim "Ripper" Owens - vocals
Toby Jepson - vocals
Craig Goldy - guitar
Rudy Sarzo - bass
Simon Wright - drums
Scott Warren - keyboards

Wendy Dio: "There will never be another Ronnie, but we want to keep his music alive and hope you will support the band and become one of the DIO DISCIPLES. We will post the UK/European tour dates as they are confirmed, and we are planning some US dates also. Hope to see you at one of the shows."

Is there a more pathetic human being on the planet than Ripper?

Also, I'm shocked he was available to tour and capitalize off of someone else's work.

Coulda been a cool idea with a decent singer.

Man fuck all yall. Ripper is perfect for this.

I agree. And seeing as the UK will be included in the tour, I expect I'll probably go.

However, "this" isn't a good idea to be honest. Especially as the plan is to then record an album using left-over ideas salvaged from RJD's computer.

I don't get all the Ripper hate, either. He's just doing what any of us with his talent would do. Is it his fault Judas Priest, Iced Earth and Yngwie hired him to sing for them? He's tried doing solo material and no one gave it the time of day. I don't blame him for going where the money is.

"Sorry, I can't sing for your band. Some guy on the internet might think it shows a lack of integrity."

That idea can drink a glass of cancer.

I get all the reissues, live albums, books and whatever else they plan on releaseing posthumosly with Dio. But the fans will forever keep Dio's music alive, we don't need to have this at all.

I never had a problem with him joining bands like Iced Earth and Yngwie. Plenty of singers join bands who need a singer. The problem is he's never been in anything that's lasted, so it looks like he just hops around taking pay cheques.

But other things are different. Like joining a money-making tribute band on top of starting a covers band and playing several covers in solo shows.

Stupid idea. How can you have Dio music without Dio? Hopefully it doesn't actually happen.

It shouldn't have been any guy, because it shouldn't be happening.

Plus, I've seen him sing Dio songs ;)

I completely agree. I'm just saying that if it's GOING to happen, there's no better suited man for the job.

Joey Belladona did a good job singing Heaven and Hell. Good thing he's in Anthrax though.

Owens seems like the easy choice for this. Too lazy to go out and find a better suited singer, just call the Ripper.

Just think of him as a session singer who has landed some high-profile gigs.

They're not really. They're one of, if not the, best in their field. What gives them the impression of being overrated is that they've become cool.

I do think they're overrated as a live act though. Of the six times I've seen them, I can honestly say I've really been blown away twice and was kinda bored the other four times (and one of those was the 'Roundhouse Tapes' show).

for a cheap price I would go to this to get drunk on Dio's music played by top notch musicians, that actually played with the man, and Ripper is not a bad singer ... so why not ?

I enjoy going to see Paul Di'anno just for the party of it, to enjoy Maiden's music so I would do the same to honor Ronnie's memory

R.I.P. Ronnie
Cheers !

Apparently the European dates are going to clash with Blue Oyster Cult's plans, which means Rudy Sarzo will be replaced by James Lomenzo on bass until BOC are done.

This makes me sad because if they got this poor excuse for a cash grab to play there then that means if Dio had lived and done another solo tour they probably would've got him instead:mad:

I've seen Dio twice solo and once with Sabbath and H&H. So i'll pass on this since i've seen the real thing already.

I saw him 7 times in total (4 with Dio and 3 with H&H), and I wasn't convinced by this whole tribute idea either. Until I actually saw it.

If the ticket prices are reasonable then this is worth every Dio fan's time. Dismissing it out of hand on misguided principle without even seeing it is dumb.

Well, call me dumb then because what they're doing is pointless and doesn't need to be done. You can't convince that they're not trying to cash in on dead man's memory and the music that he created.
