All they need is Creed (Alter Bridge won't do, they actually have good songs) and Nickelback and this fest is good to go.

I like Disturbed, Stone Sour, BLS and ATR, but I would never go to a fest that had Hinder and Papa Roach on the same bill.

And you know what?

This is the largest one-day music festival in the United States. Over 50,000 every year.

You're welcome.

Fun story: my friend used to work for the company that does security/ticket-taking/whatever at these events. She worked Rockfest a few years ago and was in charge of checking passes for people to go to the "backstage" area and she said she saw Corey Taylor throw the hugest whiniest shit-fit because he had just performed his first ever solo show and no one liked it.

I seriously think that there are about 30 or 40 "modern rock" bands that are put in a fish bowl and the first 15 picked do Rockfest. It is always the same sounding bands. I got to see STP do it a few years ago and that was only time I went and I will never be going back again.

I think the line-up for 2009 was a fucking joke. 2010 had a few bands I wouldn't mind seeing, but this year is back to being fucking lame.

It's seriously the only show of the year when I will actually get mad when I get the email that it was announced. With all of the bands on this I bet if there was ever a time where I could actually like ATR this would be the time... Yet I don't hate my life that bad where I'd do that.

Because it's still shit.

There are good rock bands, but they are wholly absent here.

If memory serves me correct Korn was in '09 and Godsmack was '10 or the other way around.

'09 had Korn and it was on May 30th, the day before my birthday. I was at an outdoor Ben Folds show that night and we could see the fireworks they always set off after the show.

Last year had Gosmack and I honestly think they could have picked a MUCH MUCH MUCH worse headliner than Godsmack. Also, Airbourne played too and they'd be fun.

I wish there was some place that kept the lineup's of the past Rockfest's.

Someone needs to set up some Maryland Deathfest type shit in KC. Rockfest sucks so much every year.

We've kinda tried to have something like that. In 2009 was a 2-day metal/hardcore fest at the Beaumont Club called the American Waste festival. Day One was headlined by Testament and had Unearth, LaZarus AD, Skeletonwitch (last minute replacement for a local band, how awesome is that?), reunion show for The Esoteric, and amazing local bands like Hammerlord, Troglodyte, etc. Day two was headlined by newly reformed Coalesce and a myriad of good hardcore/metalcore bands, but I didn't attend that day. Read my review here (http://www.metalsetlists.com/showthread.php?t=10446)

The next year, in lieu of the American Waste fest, they had Hammerween, which was a big local metal show the day before Halloween. The line-up was:

Hammerlord
Troglodyte
Diskreet
Serated
At The Left Hand Of God
Koktopus
The Cast Pattern

Basically a good chunk of Kansas City's (amazing) local metal scene. It was packed. I and some other people gave away so many tickets and there was BBQ at the venue and it was one of the most fun concerts I've been to. Made me fall in love with our scene so much. Read my review here. (http://www.metalsetlists.com/showthread.php?t=15074&highlight=hammerlord)

Would love another Hammerween, but we'll see.

I met Stevie briefly when they played with Tech N9ne a few months back he seemed like a really cool guy. I seemed a little out of place wearing my denim jacket covered in metal patches :D. It was great seeing them play a show that big but it was also kind of odd seeing the audiences reaction. Did you go to this show?

Haha, no I didn't but I definitely talked to him about it. He was definitely stoked but knew they wouldn't fit in. Hope they won over some fans! Apparently Tech is a fan.

Kansas City is easily amused. If you were ever in Disturbed or Slipknot or any other band like that and you are in KC you will be headlining or playing a mainstage.
