 Too fucking early.

I hadn't heard of The King's Speech until September last year.

I hadn't heard of The King's Speech until they opened that envelope. I went to see it right after the Oscars.

Yeah I found it funny they they already know what all is going to be released and can actually put odds on how good they are going to be. Kinda fascinating actually. The entire odds list had like 50 movies listed

Ides of March actually looks like it could be pretty good, and I'm looking forward to Girl with the Dragon Tattoo as well.

Other than that...umm, yeah, never heard of them except for Tree of Life. Then again it's always like that with Oscar nominated films.

I forgot about this. 8 months later I haven't seen any of these flicks. Tree of Life just doesn't pique my interest much. Maybe I'll check it out from redbox.

Girl with the Dragon Tattoo looks like a fun film. That's probably the 1st one I'll see.

J Edgar got really shitty reviews, so I'd be really surprised if it got any major nominations.

If I had to call the Best Picture field, I'd say the only real locks are The Descendants and War Horse and there's a good shot for Midnight in Paris, My Week With Marilyn, The Iron Lady, A Dangerous Method, and Hugo. Maaaaybe they'll find it in the goodness of their heart to nominate Martha Marcy May Marlene and/or Moneyball.

Tree of Life, Dragon Tattoo, J. Edgar ain't doin' shit.

Out of those listed in the intial post, the only has no chance in hell at getting nominated is J.Edgar (wouldn't be shocked if Decaprio got a Best Actor nomination, but that's the only nomination that it has a chance at getting). Here's what I think will get nominated for Best Picture this year:
The Descendants
War Horse
The Iron Lady
The Tree Of Life
The Artist
Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
A Dangerous Method
Moneyball
50/50

This very could be completely wrong. The Best Picture field is far, far harder to predict this year than last year. There are very few locks this year (I would say The Descendants and War Horse are the only locks).

Moneyball is fairly likely for a Best Picture nod, I would say. I'd be very happy if Hugo was nominated too. It should definitely get a nom for Art Direction as well.

Nice call on Moneyball. Of the movie I've seen it would get my nod.

Moneyball and 50/50 are ones I could see getting a nomination but no chance in hell they can win. The movie was good and I hate to be a douche, but having read the book first it put a damper on the movie for me since it completely skipped a couple of the great side stories the book covered.

Book Snob Alert... BEEEEP!!!!!!!!!!!! hahaha Just kidding man.

My buddy said the same exact thing. He liked the movie but couldn't believe how many great parts of the book were left out.

My argument to him was in a year of so few great films if there ever was a year a movie like Moneyball could win, it would be 2011.

Here are the updated odds:

Girl with Dragon Tattoo fell below Harry Potter. Yikes! As long as The Help doesn't win...

The Descendant's +225
The Artist +250
War Horse +330
J. Edgar +600
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close +700
The Help +700
The Ides of March +1000
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy +1000
Albert Nobbs +1200
Midnight in Paris +1200
The Tree of Life +1400
A Dangerous Method +1400
The Iron Lady +1400
My Week With Marilyn +1400
The Invention of Hugo Cabret +1400
Coriolanus +1400
Meek's Cutoff +1600
Moneyball +1600
Water for Elephants +1600
Harry Potter & The Deathly Hollows +1600
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo +2000
Super 8 +2000
Contagion +2000

Forgot all about The Artist! That's definitely a lock.

Oh man, I forgot about Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. A precocious kid, Tom Hanks and 9/11? That's even bigger Oscar bait than War Horse and Iron Lady.

Tree of Life? The movie that got this (http://thecinemasnob.com/2011/08/08/brad-and-jerrid-hate-each-other.aspx) review is actually being taken seriously?

The Muppets should at least be nominated. I never saw War Horse but the poster made it look like a cliche piece of shit.
