I saw that tour also but because I am old I can't remember the exact date. However, I may still have the stub.

This was my first time seeing Motorhead. I remember all the press and people saying how loud they were live. After they played I said that was pretty loud. Then Slayer came on and brought loud to the stratosphere! Overkill was pretty awesome also. I remember they played Head First!

^ What he said. I also saw this tour (but in Cleveland, obviously), and Motorhead was indeed fucking loud...but Slayer was absolutely INSANE.
:bricks: :bricks: :bricks: :bricks: :bricks: :bricks:

EDIT: Based on the tour dates on www.slayerized.com, it would have been November 9, 1988 at the Cleveland Agora for me. To this day, this show still sticks out in my memory as having had one of the biggest, most violent pits I've ever witnessed in my life.

My brother saw Monsters of Rock Open Air here in Moscow in '91 with Metallica, AC/DC, Pantera, and the Black Crowes.

Saw this show in Miami. great show, Motorhead were great as well. Got to meet all of motorhead and get pix and they signed my Ace of Spades album cover. Philthy Phil was the most talkative and hung out with the 3 of of us for a little here and there as he came and went from the venue.
We didn't get At dawn they sleep or fight till death. we did get Necrophiliac and I am pretty sure the Anti Christ. . Also part of Haunting the Chapel but they stopped about 30 seconds into it and I remember Lombardo standing up and throwing his sticks into the crowd as if he was pissed.

Ahhh, Behind the Crooked Cross would be totally kick ass live. I don't think they've played it in years though.

Same. Goddamn, I would pay more than money to have seen Slayer in 1988. Same with a 1988 Metallica, but I can't picture a more brutal metal show in existance than Slayer at that time. Maybe Pantera in the 90's? I've heard amazing stories about that too, but before my generation also.

Instead, I get to witness the rise of DEATHCORE! :D

...and this resurgance of amazing prog metal!

Yes, a time machine would be nice :D

Their sets in '88-'89 were incredible.

Agreed. Not since '90 I believe.

Read Between The Lies is another one I'd kill to see/hear live. They actually broke this one out apparently one time in '02 apprently. Shame no recording of it exists.

Slayer in the late 80's is just impossible to describe to someone, you had to be there. The set lists where longer, the energy and volume and power so intense that your ears rang for weeks afterwards, and you spent the first 24 hours after the show vibrating from the inside of your bones like some kind of tweeker on screaming shit....

Anyone who thinks they know how intense a certain pit was after '91, well... times that by about 150% and that's about how intense it was BETWEEN songs back then...
