Sick show. Still hungover. I'd never been to a show at Cafe Campus before. I liked it a lot!! They should have the majority of the metal shows there, not Club Soda, IMO. Great venue for filming too. I apologize for the shakiness in parts. I was hammered. Check out Glen's rant before Desecration. Funny stuff. LOL, I also stumbled into the back area, and met Jack + Ralph. I told Jack Cannibal Corpse was awesome, and he didn't seem to like that.

you drove from upstate new york to Montreal for the show? Nice! But anyways, do you think you can tell me about the drive up there? I ask because I may be going to University of Vermont next year, and the closet place for metal shows is Montreal. Just wondering how easy it is to drive up there and stuff. From what I've read, it takes about an hour and 50 to get up there from Burlington. Not a trip I would like to make very often, but hey, ya never know...

From where I live it's about 90 minutes. Not bad at all. I live in a town of 30,000 people, and we don't get concerts. I'm so used to traveling for shows the trip to MTL is cake for me.

The drive itself isn't bad. Driving in DT Montreal can be a pain (like all big cities), and parking isn't cheap, but the only real issue I've run into is traffic heading onto the Champlain Bridge off 15-N. It's usually fine, but sometimes you can get held up during rush hour. Overall, you shouldn't have a problem.

Is it a town on the border or something?
Oh, and how are border crossings? And are the speed limits really that slow in Quebec?

I live 30 miles from the border.

Yes, Customs can be a pain. Plan an extra 30-45 minutes, cause there are often lines, and occasionally Immigration will pull you in and run a check. Pain in the ass, but it is what it is.

Speed limit on the highways is 100 km/h (63ish mph), so no real change. Trust me, there's nothing to be intimidated by, pretty much everyone speaks English, most areas are relatively safe, etc.

multiply that number by 1,000,000 and you have the amount of time you'll be waiting to get back in the country.

Not so. If you come home after a show, you're looking at 1am or so, you'll go right through. Never seen a line that late.

Very rarely will it take this long. Just always good to have extra time planned.

Another nice vid. Yeah I was suprised, cause a lot of MTL shows see pretty tame crowds. I filmed it too and put some clips up. They're linked in the first page of this topic.

I live 25 miles south of Burlington, VT and I frequently go to Montreal. I plan on 2.5 hours from here, so 2 hours from Burlington. Your variables are time of day, day of the week, and any criminal issues in your past. These variables can cost you an extra 30-45 minutes.

Coming back is easy. By the time the show is over and you leave Montreal you get to the border around 12:30-1am. The guards are typically grumpy, but they process you through quickly.

I have never been over the crossing at Champlain NY, but I have been over Rousse's Point. This crossing is smaller and sometimes quicker.

I have been making this trip for almost eighteen years and I have seen many different scenarios. UVM is a great school and Montreal is the METAL capital of North America!!

well said ! even though Québec city was proclaimed ''Le Coeur Du Métal en Amérique'' by a certain Bruce Dickinson (The Heart Of Metal in North America)

It's fair to say that the province of Québec is pretty heavy on it's music !

Cheers !

It's disappointing a lot of tours don't seem to go there. I can't stand it when I see a massive tour not hit Montreal! I'm sure it has something to do w/ some bands having issues w/ leaving the country.

The ROuses Point border is a joke. An even better border is the one just past the high school in Champlain. Either is MUCH quicker than the main border off I-87
