Ya got me! I was about to post this thread about 30 seconds ago!

I agree with the :shred::rocker::fist::drool:. The album title sounds proggier than Opeth taking acid and blasting King Crimson. I'm pretty comfortable that they're with Metal Blade rather than Sumerian, which was rumored before. Hopefully this means a fall tour in 2011?!?!

Here's the official press release:

One can only hope.

I really like that they are on Metal Blade. I hate Victory with a passion, and they are Djent, so they don't fit with Sumerian, then again the Faceless are on there. but regardless Metal Blade is the better label.

Maybe a tour with fellow label-mates Bison B.C. or The Ocean? :D

They are touring with The Ocean and Job For A Cowboy in April/May. Also not to be a stickler, it's an LP not an EP. Needless to say, I am beyond excited for this.

I'm not really a BTBAM fan, but I'll give this a listen. It might get me into them.

If this is even half as good as their past two albums, it'll be excellent.

I'll check it out, but I actually hate Between the Buried and Me (yeah, I said it). But i'll give it a chance only because you guys on here all like them so much.

either an EP by BTBAM standards is an LP by label standards
or
they intended an EP but ended up with long enough for an LP

The EP/LP/Mini Album/whatever you want to call it, is 30 minutes long.

Regardless, it's going to kick ass.

That's the thing, it's whatever you want it to be.

April 13th they are releasing 30 minutes of music. They aren't typecasting the release of it other then that. They are basically just saying if you want to call it an EP call it an EP, etc etc.

Originally it was planned they were releasing an EP and a LP this year. but now with switching to Metal Blade that might have changed.

Frankly, I don't care a ton about seeing BTBAM again. I like them a lot live, but I'm ready to see The Ocean.

I'm anticipating that tour soooo much.

I'm kind of the same way. I've seen BTBAM twice once for the colors tour and once for Progressive Nation 2008. So I've seen all of Colors and 2 segments *Ants In The Sky, White Walls* twice.

If this tour comes here *Minnesota*, I really want to go, but I'm more interested in seeing The Ocean because I never thought they'd be touring in the states.

Even though I love BTBAM to death, I felt that Colors and The Great Misdirect weren't very cohesive as a whole, not like Blackwater Park by Opeth (the album that sets the songwriting bar for progressive metal). Hopefully this can flow more together; I have high hopes for these guys.

Yep. Colors isn't very cohesive as a whole. I love it to death, but I feel like that the songs just don't all flow together. Yes, I realize its basically one long continuous song. It doesn't change my opinion.

Sun of Nothing and Ants of the Sky seem to drag on to me, and White Walls is a little too long for its own good. Somehow they're just out of reach of getting to that Opeth level of genius in melding together heavy -> soft parts -> build up -> heavy again. I think the guitar noodling goes on a little too much at times, and would prefer a more cohesive feel.

I still love BTBAM, and listen to Colors all the time. Amazing album. The formula can be improved though, and I'm hoping they figure out how to do it.

I get what you're saying, because I feel the same way. I remember when I first listened to the album, I caught myself multiple times thinking "Wait, this is still the same song?" Sometimes I felt like it was too progressive for its own good.

Keep in mind that I don't think it's a bad album, just adding on to jd091's post that it could use some improvement.

BTBAMiohead - The Parallax King of Hypersleep Limbs?

Although I haven't been able to give it a full listen yet, that is what I figured Thomas Giles would be a mixture of BTBAM and Radiohead.
