I was wondering if ya'll had some great websites for patches. I'm looking for and Iron Maiden 'Somewhere in Time' backpatch but I haven't had any luck so I don't know if I should keep looking or get a t shirt and cut it.

If you're into doom metal, hit up Doom Metal Patches on MySpace. Awesome guy, great prices, and has proven so popular a lot of the bands actually order in bulk from him to sell at shows.

Also recommend EMP for more mainstream stuff, but not sure if they trade in the US?

Thanks! I haven't heard too much about this guy which is why I am kind of skeptical (do the patches fade easily and what not)

Well, I'd recommend looking around more before bidding on that. He doesn't have very much feedback, so I'd be skeptical too, even though the feedback he does have is good. If you don't want to risk it though, you should just buy a shirt.

Here's a couple other sites I used. These sites are mostly extreme metal though (idk if you're into that or not):

Yeah I think I'll probably go with a t shirt for right now and look around on ebay for the small patches.

Blackenedmoon are cool but they've fucked up my orders both times. Also it's impossible to order their Necronomicon patch :bawling:

is absolutely amazing. I've only ordered there myself once but I have a Peruvian friend who gets me patches there frequently and ships them to me instead of through the shop since it's cheaper to buy patches with peru money, so I can't speak for the delivery time but it shouldn't be more than a few weeks. They have awesome embroidered backpatches too, which I've never seen other places.

crustpunks.com has awesome crust/punk/grind patches, cheap too.

Other than that, ebay.

Also, that looks like a MadPatcher backpatch. They can do whatever you want since they are screenprinted onto cloth patches. You have to pay Italian prices which are kinda expensive but it's cool since they have unlimited options. Some people don't like the quality/patch type, I have no problem with it although I prefer embroidery.

I've heard MadPatcher's stuff is low quality and it fades quickly

I wouldn't say it's low quality for what it is, but if you don't like printed patches yeah it's not a good move. As for fading, I've had some on my vest for 3 or 4 years, they've been exposed to the weather, fake blood etc and there have been no issues. I don't love the asthetic of them so they have been replaced by embroidered ones, but my friend has kept his (he wears his vest every day) and I haven't noticed anything besides the patch's softening.

Embroided patches all the way! For small ones, obviously. Embroided back ones are rare. Plus, it's no longer the '80s, so, you know ;)

This.

I mean you won't replicate Somewhere in Time, but if you are looking for cloth patches with band logos of any size, and have decent stencil/etc. skill, DIY's the way to go.
