Demonaz Occulta (real name: Harald Nævdal), the once-guitarist and chief lyricist for the Norwegian black metal veterans IMMORTAL, will release his first solo album, "March Of The Norse", on April 1 in Europe via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD will be available as a CD-digi, regular LP and picture-disc LP.

"March Of The Norse" track listing:

01. Northern Hymn
02. All Blackened Sky
03. March Of The Norse
04. A Son Of The Sword
05. Where Gods Once Rode
06. Under The Great Fires
07. Over The Mountains
08. Ode To Battle
09. Legends Of Fire And Ice
10. Dying Sun (bonus track)

DEMONAZ lineup on the demos was as follows:

Demonaz (Vocals, Music and Lyrics)
Abbath (Bass, Backing Vocals)
Ice Dale (Guitars)
Armagedda (drums)

Demonaz previously desscribed his solo material as "another cold dimension in my musical and lyrical world."

I'm not sure if that's the current line up he's using, but if Ice Dale is on it that's awesome. From the demos I heard it sounds pretty cool. Like a cross between Immortal, I, Hammerheart Bathory, with clean vocals. Should be an interesting release.

This will rule. I don't think there's even a remote possibility that it won't.

EDIT: Without hearing one note I'm calling it: this will make the MSL top 10.

I dunno about that, I mean, Demonaz can't quite play with grimness anymore. With that said, I know Demonaz has the ability to make some fuckin' badass black metal still. I think it has the chance.

I don't think he's playing guitar, only writing and doing vocals. I think it will be a solid release. I'm also really stoked that Ice Dale is on it, I truly believe that he is an awesome guitarist, and is probably one of my favorites. His solos just have so much feeling rooted in them. Plus he's entertaining live, and you can tell he's having a blast.

Just out of curiousity, I know that Demonaz is still considered to be "in Immortal" by the band, and I know he writes the lyrics. Does he still contribute to the music as well?

I didn't even notice that he isn't playing guitar! :wow:

I can't wait for this. I have been listening to the demos on his MySpace since 2007! I am glad it is finally getting an official release.

Reminds me a lot of I. Which is good, of course. I can't wait to hear the rest!
