I think this is my first review here. It'll probably be a short one but here goes.

I knew exactly what I was gonna get before I even set The World Is Yours down on the checkout counter. Crunchy riffs, raspy, pissed off vocals, and a general fuck the world attitude. That's what Motorhead does best and this album is no different. The first track, Born To Lose, is a rager propelled by some awesome drumming from Mikkey Dee. This is possibly the best song on the album and the chorus here is really strong. Get Back In Line is the third track and the single. It's a solid song but if that's all you've heard then don't be fooled, The World is Yours has more to offer than that track. It's good but definitely not the best cut on the album. Devils In My Head is another one of the stronger tracks, as is Rock N Roll Music. You can probably guess what that one is about. The chorus might be a bit cliched:

"Rock and roll music is the true religion
Never let ya down, you can dance to the rhythm"

But it works for me. Waiting For The Snake follows and it may be the weakest song, not terrible but just kinda bland. Brotherhood of Man is the "curveball" on this album. Motorhead doesn't branch out from their formula much so don't expect some kind of prog piece a la Ulver or something but this song is a bit of a departure from everything else. It consists of a slow, brooding riff accompanied by some apocalyptic lyrics delivered by a dark and dreary vocal performance from Lemmy. Great tune, one of the strongest here. Outlaw is a strong rocker and Bye Bye Bitch Bye Bye closes the disc in a hard and fast manner (and it's actually a good song despite the stupid title).

Not as good as 2008's Motorizer but a strong release from these veteran rockers. If you like Motorhead, do yourself a favor and pick this up. If you don't like Motorhead then this album is not going to convert you.

My rating: 7.75.

Best tracks: Born To Lose, Brotherhood of Man, Rock N Roll Music

Worst tracks: Waiting For the Snake, I Know What You Need

"If you don't like Motorhead then this album is not going to convert you."

Should probably read as, "If you don't like Motorhead, what the hell is wrong with you?"
