Band To Perform Two Sets Each Night!
Melodic death metal tyrants AMON AMARTH are proud to announce their 2011 U.S. headlining tour. Simply dubbed "An Evening With AMON AMARTH," this very special trek will find the band touring without support and instead performing two separate sets each night! One set will feature upcoming album Surtur Rising in its entirety. The Viking-inspired festivities will commence on April 14th in Chicago, Illinois and pillage its way through 17 cities throughout the country before drawing to a climactic close on May 7 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Sunday night... Probably won't be able to make it, but I will try. I'm not a big fan of Amon Amarth, but I've been wanting to see them (missed their tour last year) and this seems like an amazing opportunity to do so!

CHICAGO BABY! Fuck yes! I haven't seen a band do an entire evening show like this, it should be amazing as hell.

And have you been to the Bottom Lounge before? How is it compared to Reggie's?

Life sucks when you only have 60 bucks to your name. I'll see you at both of those.

I'll try to go to this, but a Thursday night might be kind of tricky.

Gonna cost me around $30, but I'm feeling show of the year already. 2 sets... I still can't get over this! Hopefully Johan doesn't blow his voice because of the sheer length of it. Chicago's the first tour date, so it should be all good. Ahhh...

:bliss:

And notice: The show is 17+ in Chicago, in case any of you kiddies were wondering.

What an odd age restriction... .

Too bad there's no Canadian dates, but I'm assuming (hoping) we'll get our own tour. Doubt we'll get 'An Evening With...', but I know the new album will be awesome, and a 4th AA concert would be nice  .

Big 4 on Saturday and Amon Amarth on Monday; I'm going to catch some shit from my wife for that but it will be worth it. It looks like tickets aren't available for the Arizona show yet though.

Honestly, I would rather see an Evening with Amon Amarth over the big 4 any day.

Can't really argue with that; especially when Amon Amarth tickets are supposed to be only $18 here; I already have Big 4 tickets so I'll be doing both; that will be a killer long weekend for me; I already booked Monday and Tuesday off from work for Amon Amarth.

Ahem. What am I, chopped liver? Wait, don't answer that. ;)

Anyway, I don't think he's going to that show - but I am going to try. Problem is, it's on a Tuesday, which is the day my wife works and I watch the kids. I'm gonna have to try to work something out, though. I've wanted to see them for quite some time, and this type of show is a "can't miss" deal.

EDIT: Peabody's is the venue I've probably seen the most shows at over the years. I even remember when it was at its original location in the Cleveland Flats (the area surrounding the Cuyahoga River which used to be full of all kinds of cool bars and clubs and restaurants and such). I saw D.R.I. there and did my first forward flip off the stage into the crowd. Ah, the good ol' daze... :bliss:

it will probably be a 2 hour set, the only reason I'm confident about that is that they're writing this off as a special evening tour with no openers. 3 hours is a bit much for a band like this.

Amon Amarth albums barely reach an hour, they mostly are just shy of the 45 minute mark. There is no way they could make one album go for an hour and a half set.

smokebeer420
02-12-2011, 04:17 PM
ok so they make the first set 1 hour but i think they could do a 90 min second set but idk if johan will want to do that for an entire tour.so ur probly right it probly will be 2 hours which will be a fun 2 hours:party::rocker::light:
