I'm not huge into Darkest Hour, but I know you like them and As I Lay Dying, check out this local band. They're pretty awesome and play that melodic death/metalcore style.

I think it's alright. I didn't think it was anything great first time around, so I decided to give it another spin. The feeling remains the same. It's decent, but nothing that great.

I dunno man, passing off COB worship as some kind of Israeli folk black metal is just really dishonest in my opinion. :2cents:

imo Night of the Stormrider is the best IE album musically by far. if Matt Barlow had originally done the vocals it would be by far the best. the Days of Purgatory versions of the songs own the original. Burnt Offerings is too inconsitent for me. diary and brainwashed are meh imo.

Been listening to the latest AILD album lately, I bought it the week it came out but never gave it a full listen aside from 2 songs, excellent album I dont see how people can tell me AILD isnt very heavy with a straight face, or that they are generic Metalcore, they have more double bass and push the pace more then any metalcore band, just because you have melodic choureses does not make a band emo or weak. Overall its a real strong record prolly there heaviest, I think I like the oen before this better though.

I get your point, even if people travel to Buffalo for MDB I still dont think it will sell out. Maybe you dont understand that in Buffalo alot of bands are obscure MDB is one of them.

Do you think that Buffalo is some kind of weird metal band void? Do you assume that in other cities, My Dying Bride is bigger than Linkin Park? Buffalo is the same as everywhere else, I'm quite positive that if My Dying Bride played in Toronto there'd be a pretty massive turnout, just like there is for any other band that doesn't tour here very often.

I know the kind of metal that Buffalo likes, it is well known mainstream music. Im sure if I talk to metal heads in Buffalo I will find ones that like My Dying Bride but not enough to make them sell out. Even if people traveled here I dont think it would sell out. From everyones responses it seems like people in other places know their metal mainstream and obscure. Everytime I say bands like MDB, Nevermore and iced Earth are obscure you say Im wrong. Has My Dying Bride ever played Buffalo, if they did Im sure it was along time ago, and no one knew who they were then.
Yes but Im wrong, its not like I havent been studying metal/ metal fans since I was 12 and its not like Ive been living in this city since I was born. :tp:
If My Dying Bride came here I would definetly show up even if Im the only one.:D

The metal people like in Buffalo is no different than anywhere else in the US. The main reason people wouldn't come to Buffalo for a show like My Dying Bride is simply because we're not a destination city for anyone who wants to travel. Unless you have friends and relatives here I don't know why anybody would wanna visit this area.

Toronto's population is 2 million people as opposed to the 250,000 Buffalo has. That's a big deciding factor on where a band gets booked and how many people they can draw live in that specific area. Most metal bands that have made a decent name for themselves have no problem getting people to come out to show's in Toronto due to the higher population. Which is also why Toronto gets just about every tour out there and Buffalo gets screwed out of them most of the time.

I break it down as such

One By One = I mean I don't expect Immortal to play anything except for maybe Withstand the fall of time, but I'd be the most sad if they didn't play this. :(

In My Kingdom Cold = I'm all for the inclusion of rarities, and while it isn't quite in the top tier for this album, to drop this for Blashrykh is more or less saying we approve Maiden of dropping Paschendale for Wrathchild.

Sons of Northern Darkness = the most expendable, but they were playing this one the most to begin with for this tour, so to drop it now seems kind of dumb.

Tyrants = a pleasant surprise, but why play this when they could have added something else from another album?

Beyond The North Waves = another great surprise, but if they need to drop a song to make room for a seperate album song, it should be either this or Tyrants.

Same story with the Agalloch show coming your way?Kinda. It's more a matter of priorities, since that show is on the same night as Helmet / St. Vitus / Crowbar / Kylesa / Howl / The Atlas Moth / Keelhaul, and anybody who knows me knows where I'll be (hopefully) that night. So yeah, you could say it's a bad timing thing, but the reasons are slightly different. I just can't go tonight because I have way too much shit on my plate between family duties and work stuff going on this week.

I'd gladly brave the fucked up winter storm that's hitting the area between Cleveland and Pittsburgh in order to make it to this show - and in fact, to see Immortal, having to go through that even seems somewhat appropriate  - if that were the only thing between me and being able to go. I am so fucking pissed. If Daimonos doesn't find a way to make the measly little thirty-minute drive tonight, I will never EVER stop giving him shit for it. ;)

Driving through a winter storm to see Immortal would be ideal to me. One, because there's nothing I love more on this earth than snow. Two, it would be perfectly fitting, and it would put me in the perfect mood for the show. Immortal's one of only a handful of metal bands whose music meshes perfectly with a snowy setting.

At first I was actually excited that it was snowing, because it is Immortal. Then whenever I saw that cars couldn't even move down main roads in my town I realized how bad the storm was. And I live in an area that's used to snow. There's no possible way I could have safely made it to Pittsburgh in the weather we had. I'm 17 years old, I've had my license for a year, I can't deal with that kinda shit. Plus any responsible parent wouldn't have let their kid do it anyways. Trust me, I would have tried to get there if I was allowed.

That being said...Immortal is finishing up their set right now and I'm out of $42 and what is probably one of my only chances to see one of my favorite bands.

And I would go see Nachtmystium in two days, but now I'm out of cash basically.

Oh i'm not holding it against them, I completely understand. My parents are pretty cool. At a certain point I knew that I wouldn't be able to make the drive, and when my friends weren't allowed to go anymore, my dad was going to use one of the tickets I bought and go with me and drive, because he knew it would have been a waste of money, and he has a truck. Were you into them before or did they convert you last night? Just wondering. Either way, fucking awesome band! :rocker:

Converted me. I had only heard like two songs before and didn't think much of them. The live set was godly though.

Good to hear. I have their two newest albums and one of the EP's, and they're a band I've been trying to find more stuff from. I'm glad to hear that they were awesome live though! They fucking shred. I think you'd definitely be into the two albums that I've heard, Absu and Tara.
