I liked the combat in XIII, it was fast, fun and easy. The music was good too, and the graphics were, of course, beautiful. But the terrible characters (Vanilla and Snow especially), linear gameplay of the first 80% of the game and poor story killed it. I still was never sure why we were fighting Bartaneous or who/what the Orphan was.

I went in expecting not to like it so that probably hurt it. And it had to follow up my favorite FF of all time; XII.

13 had all the ingredients, it just lacked serious depth, and the gameplay was too linear. It was beautiful, and the soundtrack was phenominal as always, it just was a total let down, because, as it was a video game, the gameplay not being there completely crippled it.

12 is absolutely perfect in my opinion, that top 5 are virtually untouchable in my opinion.

Why do you have Final Fantasy 8 ranked so low :(

It's the Best Final Fantasy game next to FF7 :rocker:

Three reasons (and this is all just my opinion) :

1) The lead character was a little too brooding, it was hard to sympathise with him as much.

2) Its Darkness worked against it, the game felta little too dark at times to handle.

3) As an overall package it lacked substance, the story was just that little bit weaker than others I had played at that point.

That being said, its still a great game, I have loved almost all the final fantasies I have played. Also, please do not refer to any of the storyline in any discussion you continue on this, I do not wish to ruin the story for anyone who hasn't played it)

Interesting. I figured everyone hated COD3 equally.

CoD3 is awful, and much more of a pain in the ass to play than MW2. However, considering how catastrophic the fail was by Infinity Ward going from CoD4 (the perfect multiplayer game) to the cluster fuck known as MW2, it deserves to be that low. The MW2 engine (i.e. the infinity ward engine) is great, but with all the bullshit in that game it was unplayable. People may hate Black Ops because Treyarch's engine isn't as good as IW's (which I agree with), but at least the game is balanced and brought some of the skill back again.

Nah, I personally LOVED Duke nukem 64. It was actually my first DN game before I played any other. The only thing censored is the boobidge. The game was still pretty damn violent and gory from what I remember. This is all just personal opinions, I personally loved DN 64 more than DN 3d, but DN: Zero Hour will always be the greatest in the series(I really loved the western theme it had going). I love Mass Effect 2 for the story and environments. But I love Mass Effect 3 for the gameplay, the more RPG elements to the weapons and I liked the icon highlighting items you found a million times more (that doesn't sound like much but it was huge for me). But Mass Effect 2 was "my first" so it will forever be my favorite.

I wish I could play ME 2 for the first time again.

Being half way through Mass Effect 3 only now, despite getting it almost at launch, I wish I could start the series fresh again because I really don't want this to end. 3 is the weakest in the trilogy in my opinion, but the story told in all 3 is amazing, and speaking as a life-long Star Trek fan, this is about as close as I'll ever get to feeling like a part of a sci-fi world. They created something really special with this series I think.

When I finished ME3 the ending (whatever you say about it) stuck with me for about two weeks. I was actually really upset that it was over. And at the risk of painting myself as something out of the World of Warcraft episode of South Park, I'm seriously in love with Liara. That just shows you how much great work went into that game.

So what did I do? I started playing ME2 again and now I'm halfway through ME3 for the second time.

I'm trying to think of a games ending that affected me the way Mass Effect 3's did. The closest I can come up with is Metal Gear Sokid 3's. But I was over that within a few days.

I'm going to say something I never thought I'd say; but I think I love Mass Effect more than Star Wars. We'll see how Mass Effect holds up in thirty years, but in 2012 I love it more.

Mass Effect is the modern equivalent to Star Wars, told on the platform Star Wars would have been released on if it was released today. That's what I think anyway.

What I love about Mass Effect as well, is that it has a lot of Star Trek in the mix too, so it's a perfect middle ground for both Star Wars and Star Trek fans to revel in. It is the sci-fi geeks game, for sure.

I've been able to draw a few parallels between Mass Effect and Star Wars, but I'm not to into Star Trek. What are some of the parallels you've noticed?

Nah, I personally LOVED Duke nukem 64. It was actually my first DN game before I played any other. The only thing censored is the boobidge. The game was still pretty damn violent and gory from what I remember. This is all just personal opinions, I personally loved DN 64 more than DN 3d, but DN: Zero Hour will always be the greatest in the series(I really loved the western theme it had going). Lets just see how DN forever stands out once it's released.:hmm:

I personally liked how you can save the girls rather than either kill them or leave them to suffer.

The alliance is very similar to the 'United Federation of Planets', with inter-galactic multiculturalism being rife, despite feelings between different races never seeming altogether positive. Space exploration with the ships, and most of the 'good' characters being prominent members of the crew. Reaper ships in the third game are revered much like the Borg in Star Trek.

As I say, Mass Effect is a really good mix of both Star Trek and Star Wars, like a perfect middle ground!

The Prothean Empire really reminds me of a mix between the Galactic Empire and the Infinite Empire in Star Wars, the Reapers remind me of the Yuuzhan Vong and biotics just remind me of the force. It's obviously impossible to have any space story without drawing influences from Star Wars and Star Trek. I'm sure they got some of their ideas from somewhere else too.

Mass Effect
1. Mass Effect 2
2. Mass Effect 3
3. Mass Effect

But they're all so good it's more like:
1.1. Mass Effect 2
1.2. Mass Effect 3
1.3. Mass Effect
