Im 18 I'll be 19 in August. It's true I haven't done anything with my life yet but I know about life more than any of you give me credit for.

No you don't. And generally speaking, nor does anyone else your age. I didn't at your age. Everyone THINKS they do, but they don't.

Just read that Seth McFarlane is remaking The Flintstones to be on Fox in 2013:

http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/05/16/fox-developing-reboot-of-the-flintstones/

Here is some of the early dialogue:

Wilma: Fred, how did you get fired from your job?
Fred: You think that's bad? Remember the time Barney and I went bowling with Dino and Charlie Sheen?

Watch August Underground's Mordum, Ebola Virus, any cannibal movie, Japanese pseudo snuff like Tumbling Doll of Flesh, Salo (not a gory horror movie, but perverse and far more disturbing than Serbian film,) and then there are plenty of films that are probably a lot more disturbing than this like Pig Fucking Movie, but I haven't seen them. That's just animal cruelty filmed though.
In the area of underground horror/exploitation/mondo stuff, it gets much worse. I'd even say lots of the movies from the 70's and 80's are more shocking and disturbing.

Yeah Salo is probably the worst. August Underground series is up there too.

I like Japanese stuff like Visitor Q. I actually need some help. There is a film made, I think Japanese, where someone makes like a pill or something that will bring pleasure to people when they get hurt or feel pain, and the worst the pain, the better the pleasure or something like that. Ever heard of this?

It seems like no one cares about the 3rd August Underground. Why did they tone it down so much? btw I never saw it.

They didn't really tone it down, but it's filmed as opposed to being like a home movie (cameraman instead of having a character do it.) It doesn't have VHS quality film either, and has more of a story and linear plot. If you take the snuff elements of AU out, it's just a perverse torture-horror movie, so not that exciting or memorable.

Idk, fucked up shit.

Ebola Syndrome is fucked up. It's kinda funny, but really fucked up.
Men Behind the Sun and Philosophy of a Knife are both similar "historical" movies, pretty messed up but I suppose the intent is good. MBtS has an actual dead child autopsy in it. Thriller (A Cruel Picture) is kind of fucked up (really fucked up by most standards) but also a bit campy, it's still really good though. Shocking Asia, Mondo Cane and all those movies are fucked up in the way Faces of Death is, except with more real content, dead animals and weird sex stuff. Nekromantik is pretty disturbing but I'm guessing you've seen that and it's sequel, same goes for the cannibal movies (Cannibal Holocaust, Cannibal Ferox, Slave to the Cannibal God, Man From Deep River etc.) if not check those out asap. Theres a lot of japanese snuff films whos names escape me but for the most part if you've seen one youve seen them all. So check out Guinea Pig: Flower of Flesh and Blood (kinda tame by modern standards) and Tumbling Doll of Flesh and you'll have the full effect. I got a shit ton of other mondo/gore/cannibal etc. recs if you're interested, but they are just lesser versions of the famous ones for the most part.

Gimme some run down on the ones in bold. Those interest me, although I don't really wanna see actual snuff films.

Well, you're in luck because aside from internet death videos, newsclips and perhaps a rumored underground snuff trade, they don't exist ;)

Philosophy of a Knife is like a less good Men Behind the Sun, so if you have seen that and didn't enjoy it you might not like it. It's Japanese war atrocity stuff, but its made out to be a documentary (it's not) and has fake interviews and recreations of bad shit happening to helpless Chinese people. It's pretty damn long too.

Thriller: A Cruel Picture is not best known for being in part the inspiration behind Kill Bill. It's a rape/revenge movie and its pretty violent but has more the tone of a grindhouse movie than say Last House on the Left. I believe they used a real cadaver in one scene too, but I might be remembering this wrong.

Shocking Asia is another pseudo documentary, although it's like scripted-staged (a significant part of it is probably fake.) It goes through bizarre cultural stuff, dead people, killing animals, sex, circumcision- all the typical mondo stuff, except it's one of the higher quality ones.

I just recently got Slave to the Cannibal God on DVD. It's pretty entertaining and run of the mill cannibal stuff, but it's also much more of an adventure film. It goes a bit overboard with animal killing, I never find that pleasant to see, but has a more interesting plot than most of those movies. Plus it gets a tad bit pornographic, and there is a pig raping scene. Weird shit.

Man From Deep River is one of the first cannibal movies, it's not in South America though. As with all of them it has the standard gore and animal death, but if you have seen a lot of cannibal movies you've probably seen a lot of the "best" parts because it tends to be used for stock footage all the time. Less corny than SttCG, but probably on par.

Guinea Pig: Flower of Flesh and Blood is the most famous of the movies I posted, because Charlie Sheen turned it in to the FBI years ago because he thought it was real snuff. It really isn't, and even has camera angles. It's a samurai dismembering a Japanese chick. It's short and brutal, and a classic of the genre although like I said it's pretty clearly not "real."

Tumbling Doll of Flesh is another short Japanese torture-porn flick, but its convincingly done. Basically some Japanese dudes gang rape and mutilate this chick, and it's done from a single camera snuff style angle with barely audible dialogue. Disturbing.

All of those can be found online, but be careful. They almost all have a shit ton of different cuts to be allowed in different countries, and in every case it's best to see the totally uncut and uncensored version. If you can afford it, I'd say try and buy trustworthy DVDs when you have the time, going from the classics to the knockoffs. It's a fulfilling experience haha.

But Cannibal Corpse actively sing about doing virtually every kind of depraved sick kind of pain you can inflict upon the human body in a physical sense. Its an audio representation of what you watch in those movies. I watch movies like A Serbian Film, and actively search for gorier more depraved movies, much like I listen to Cannibal Corpses music. The movies have quite a bit of merit, the special effects on the gore can be incredible, and I find its interesting to see what people can and can't bear to witness. I can understand people being put off the movies and not wanting to see them, but when they do what CoS just did and question why people like them and how fucked up they are and how it shows how low the human race has gone, and not doing the same for music like Cannibal Corpse, I find it hypocritical.

Questioning the sanity and calling people who enjoy this kind of cinema "fucked up" is just like the PMRC in the 80s with metal. There's absolutely no correlation between enjoyment of sick entertainment and being a fucked up individual. I love the most tasteless and depraved forms of almost all media, yet I'm probably a much less violent person than most on this board.

I have no desire ever to see something killed for entertainment, or enjoyed for "lulz" later on. I'm a little pissed off right now. I have a friend who I haven't seen in years come to town for 2 days. I told him I wanted to chill before he left for another year or so. After I made plans I found out Dita Von Teese was doing a strip tease tonight at the Roxy, a dream of my youth haha, but I didn't want to ditch my friend, so I decided not to go. Well my friend ended up ditching me and I missed seeing a great show and was stuck at home tonight doing nothing but studying more Physics:mad: I know she's doing another show tomorrow but I have the Murder Junkies show. Ahh I hope she comes back here soon.

For Taurus. 2004. It's my Silver Bullet. :D

the thing is lately I've turned the ignition and it's taken longer than normal for the engine to turn over. The engine doesn't rev or go "rururururu" when I turn the key or anything.

Seriously, the people involved in the music "scene" in my area are so pathetic it makes me want to vomit. I know a lot of you are in bands, so please feel free to validate how stupid this is for me.

An organization of people in the are around me (Known as the "Lehigh Valley") organize an annual "Local Music Awards Show" event, in which they honor all kinds of things. Take time to process that. An area which has a horrible local music scene on life support as it is - has an AWARDS SHOW to honor the best people. And of course, because absolutely everything around here is corrupt, the same people, bands, and organizations win the awards every year. And then they go around bragging, showing them off on the internet, as if the award means ANYTHING to anyone outside of the community.

It's also getting really annoying how everyone bitches about how "no one supports the scene", while all the promoters and bands are just trying to compete against eachother. I'd be damned if the biggest local music events in this area don't ALWAYS occur on the same days. This Saturday my band is playing on a 7-band outdoor BBQ/fundraiser which includes half of the most "notable" bands from the area. It was announced a few weeks ago that pretty much the OTHER half of the most notable bands in the area are playing on something pretty damn similar on the same damn day. And people wonder why nothing ever meets its potential. Also, promoters can't understand why no one wants to see local shows with 6 completely stylistically different bands all playing 35 minute sets for $12. Also, every promoter thinks they know absolutely everything and what's best for everyone, when in reality all they're looking to do is push their own agenda and fuck you over if you're not one of the 3-5 bands they happen to play favorites with.

Furthermore, I'm tired of the fact that my own band will usually draw 30-40 people to a show, which is usually 3x what the other bands draw - but since we're not willing to lie to promoters in advance (ie. instead of telling them in advance we'll have 70 people there and only draw 15, we actually just guarantee we'll bring 35 and actually do it), we're constantly being labeled as second rate and everyone wants to put us on the first slot of every show, when the other bands don't draw any better (and sound much worse) than we do. I'm also tired of bands guilt-tripping others into the "support the scene" mentality, when in reality all they care about are themselves. I get about a half-dozen event invites on Facebook every week from members of various local bands, pushing their own shows, but it's so god damn hard to actually ever ask if we'd like to play on any of these shows. It just seems like since my band are relatively young (20-22), even though we're easily on the top tier of the area in terms of quality and professionalism, we're constantly being excluded from all the special cliques, because we're "just a bunch of kids". This would be fine, if it didn't mean we never got on any decent shows, never got any decent exposure in the area, and constantly felt like everyone else is against us.

Sorry, I know this is a huge rant that most of you could probably care less about. This was just a LONG time coming and I can't just post this on Facebook because the repercussions would be ridiculous. So there you go.

The lame town I live in is essentially the same way.
Now, you're band is much more stomach-able to the average human than mine and you're significantly better musicians than we are, but it's pretty much the same shit. We're banned from half of the local venues and half of the "metal" bands hate us for various reasons, but we still manage to play decent shows and when we do we usually get 30ish people there (80% of which are minors.) It's hilarious how childish some of the bands here are, basically because we are the only act that draws a youth crowd and have energy (moshing and all that is almost unheard of everywhere else) bands refuse to play with us and have had us kicked off bills, one of which we even set up. Most of the local bands hate each other, and a scene is non existent yet they act like representing "the 831" is something of importance. 2 years ago we played shows once or twice a month, now it's become a "when there is a reason to" type thing, even though we're way better than we were back then. To much bullshit with local people who think their bands matter.

Well at least you have something going on down there. San Mateo is fairly close to the city, but there is literally nothing worth going to on the peninsula, mostly San Bruno/South City hardcore bands, and everywhere in SJ is 21+. I haven't played a real show in a while but it was a pain in the ass being in a high school band because any shows in are area were either chaperoned like middle school dances or way over our heads.

Thanks Manky, Mentioning MEtallica is a great segway to my sotry.

Go back a few pages if you didn't see the video I made about my experience. I have a great story that happened tonight that totally fits in:

I met up with a girl that a girl I know was trying to hook me up with, She liked Metallica so I thought I'd play a song on the jukebox at the bar only a real Metallica fan would know, their medley of Mercyful Fate. After I put my money in for it, we start playing pool. The song comes on and I told her I put on Metallica. Once the song kicked in She said, "Hey! This isn't Enter Sandman."

Needless to say I didn't get laid.

Yeah, I don't actually have them though (and the tapes will follow, they are still at press.) Jonas from Sadomator runs an extremely small label called Silver Key Records, and we ended up doing a split tape with one of his side projects called Goatfago since he likes us. 200 copies are being made, roughly the same as our 7" that just came out, but the split tape is waaay better (rawer though) so I'm really excited for it, and it didn't cost us a thing. I got the picture off his facebook, everything's still with him in Denmark.

Writing list of things that irk me:

- Presumptous authority figures that jump to conclusions instead of actually trying to do any work (example: my middle school principal, who suspended me for three days last year after he assumed it was me who wrote a bunch of shit about some rich-ass Russian brat on the bathroom wall.).

- Quick-motion scenes in video games that are obviously impossible to pull off without going mentally insane and screaming at your controller (example: Heavy Rain, or at least my copy of it. Still a fucking amazing game however!).

- When my friends fuck with me for the sake of being dicks and don't stop until I piss them off for real (probably to get back at me for some prank I pulled before).

- When Green Day or Rise Against fanboys claim that they're punks because they listen to previously mentioned bands. (example: *cough cough alex t. cough cough*)

- People who chant outdated memes like there's no tomorrow.

- Loudmouthed dick jocks that become loudmouthed dick jock "metalheads" after they start listening to "Enter Sandman". I later saw one from my school in a Suicide Silence pit getting his ass WHOOPED. The hardcore dancing he was trying to imitate was more like rockabilly dancing.

Thing is, I consider this guy my only "true" friend in VA. I used to have a bunch of friends when I just moved here, but pretty much all of them were assholes that I think I only hung around with for the sake of company. I've cut contact with all of them and I only talk to a small hand of people at my school/area now.

But this guy is the only one I can be 110% open with. He moved to another school last year and it was fine at first. But this year he's made a ton of other friends there and goes to parties every week with em; which I'm fine with, I want to see him happy and having fun. But it's just like, now that he has others, we don't matter anymore.

I've been in an awful mood this weekend and he's been my go-to guy. I try texting him, he never replies and when he does he's just like "I'm with some people, I'll text you later when I get back", but never does. I highly doubt he's with others 24/7. And this is after I told him I've been feeling awful and I really need to talk to him. I've always been right there when he's down but now it's just like..Ah I don't know.

Sorry if I sound whiny guys, terrible mood.

Aw, you guys are growing up.

Sucks, doesn't it? But this is how life goes, I'm afraid. The fairytale best-friends-for-life thing is rarer than you'd think.

You will find your best friends in adulthood will be either people you live near once you've "settled" (i.e. bought a permanent residence), or people you work with once you've got that one job you're going to be in for years.

I'm in touch with no one from school, and only two people from university. I now work with one of those, so we're cool, but even then outside of work we used to text/chat all the time, but time marches on. She's still very close to a whole bunch of other ex-uni people who I don't really give a shit about, and has a boyfriend etc. so I don't hear from her that much. Probably would if we didn't work together.

Apart from her, my friends are people I've previously worked with at other jobs, and people I've met through music. The people you meet in adulthood are often the more mature ones, the friendships you form are based on more solid things, and they aren't so fickle as you stop hearing from them altogether. But be under no illusion, you aren't going to be in each other's pockets all day long.

I don't think this really applies to the situation. This guy was out to start a fight all night long. He went up to everyone over the few hours the show lasted and tried fucking with them so they would throw a punch at him. He would fuck with the bands equipment, he would knock peoples beers over or out of their hands. There was a pool table that people would put a few quarters in and get a round and he went up to it during the middle of a game, grabbed all the balls and put in in the pockets to end the game right then and there. He tried mad dogging me at one point but I just stood there and smiled:tongue: haha. They told te guy over the PA to leave the show or he would get his ass kicked. He left for a bit but showed up at the end. At this point, he went up to the guy in charge, who told him to leave, and got in his face. That was the most idiotic thing he could've done at that point. The guy told him he was told to leave and if he didn't leave right then and there, he was going to be forced to leave. The guy, who was starting shit, started fucking around with a few people around him. The guy in charge got back in his face and reminded him things would stay calm if he left, but the guy just spat in the other guys face. At that point, the two got in a fight and then the 5 or 6 people around just threw in a punch cause they were all pissed off. Then the mob of 20 or 30 peope just took this outside. I went to grab a glass bottle to hit him with but the guy was gone by the time I could get there haha.

In the end if someone pushes their limits with everyone and gets several warnings about leaving and continues to push peoples limits, I think they deserve what ever happens to them.

Normally I would disapprove of "ganging up" on someone, but this guy totally deserved it. Good ol' street justice, there. :allan:

First time in this internship so far that I've felt super unprepared for an interview. Talking to Jamie Hince from the Kills at 4:30, not supposed to talk about Kate Moss (not that I care) and the prints they had for their U.S. tour (which the PR lady wants me to). Asking him about the short story he wrote for the Quietus about a year and a half ago, leading into literary influences, leading that into musical influences/approach to songwriting, then...?

By far the interview I've done I've been the least jazzed for; would gladly let you do it for me if you were here. ;)

Nah, I've got some decent questions, I just know it's not going to go great because I don't have the familiarity with their scene to easily flow the conversation. Whatever, hopefully I'm wrong. Jamie's known to be fairly combative in interviews, and I've got a couple questions that he's not gonna love, so at least I'll get to have a good argument today.

Saw Rush tonight. Won't bother with a thread I don't think since it's the same setlist they've been doing for a full year, but yeah...arenas/amphitheatres are giant buzzkills with most acts and I hate being reminded of that. Thanks for sitting on your asses and not getting remotely into it, everyone around me.

Also, fuck Rush for getting rid of the best riff Sabbath never wrote at the beginning of Working Man with that bullshit tropicalia/reggae thing. Otherwise a flawless set and of course a very fun night. Just hate old man rock audiences. You should exert at least a little bit of the effort that the band you paid to see is exerting, I feel.

And Moving Pictures in its entirety was pretty fucking amazing. :bliss:

Thanks for the great things you did for the school and community coach Jim Tressel. I hate to see you go out like this but I think it had to be done. :(

I saw this on the Steam store today... That is a pretty metal price tag, if I might say so myself.

 That reminds me of a time I was working at Target. As a cashier we have to get people to open Target Credit Cards. It used to tell us how much they would save if they opened a card. Well one time it prompted me to say "Would you like to open a Target Red Card, You'll save 13.49 by doing so" haha I was thinking, save them from what haha.

I hope so, I'd hate for a New Fantomas album to have Deathcore elements.

332 Jericho Turnpike in Huntington is where it's supposed to be. I looked for it today but I didn't see it, and when I called I got no answer. I'm gonna go up there tomorrow on my bike for a closer look.
