So I'm driving home from NW Indiana and listening to my mp3 player on shuffle, and a pretty interesting string of tracks have been played so far - which gives me an idea...why not post them?

Let the shenanigans begin! :D

 Well I sure don't hate the label, that's for sure - but I like a lot of bands from a ton of others as well.

Plus, did you notice that a fair amount of the stuff on my little virtual mini-tour wasn't even metal?

Yes! Some Dizzaft Pizzunk. Have you heard the Tron OST? People don't like it because they thought it was an actual new Daft Punk album.

Nice thread Nat. Manks, I dug Daft Punk's Tron stuff, their soundtrack was the only good part of the whole movie.

Yeah, just the other day I was playing the Big Surf Island expansion pack for Burnout Paradise on the XBox with my sister-in-law's boyfriend, and he had the Tron OST music playing as the background music to it. A lot of it reminds me more of Batman Begins music than Daft Punk, but that's obviously the Christopher Nolan influence on the soundtrack material. The tr00 Daft Punk-sounding stuff is awesome, though. :fist:

Home now. Stopped typing the last few because it was getting dark. They were:

Red Rain
Get Behind Me Satan
The White Stripes

No project of Jack White's has ever been as good as the one with him and his ex.

My Heart Bleeds No More
The Stings of Conscience
Unearth

*core that doesn't suck - who knew?

Backbone
From Mars to Sirius
Gojira

One of the few repeats of the night, and the only three-peat - and the songs got better every time. This is arguably one of their best.

...and as I was driving down my street:

Seasons in the Abyss
Seasons in the Abyss
Slayer

:rocker:

...and a good night to all.

 I am not a huge fan of theirs, but I think they are pretty cool. I will say the levels of hate they get on this board is unjustified. I can completely see not liking them, but they aren't even remotely close to garbage. It almost seems to me that certain people are just butthurt that they somewhat sound like Meshuggah and decide to lash out against them because of it.

I don't hate them because they rip off Meshuggah, I hate them because they flat out suck.

Where's the Vildhjarta;)I checked them out a couple of months ago...I suppose they're just OK.

They aren't even remotely close to being as awesome as Meshuggah, though. That's a pet peeve of mine that's well-documented on here - I can't stand when a band comes out and does a little palm-muting on the guitars and / or plays in a time signature other than 4/4 for like five seconds and people start jumping all over their dicks and saying "they sound just like Meshuggah!!!"

No.

Fuck that.

Nobody sounds "just like Meshuggah".

Nobody.

Fair enough. Like I said earlier in this thread, I think they are pretty good, but nothing to go crazy about. I was just busting your balls after what you said to me in the Now Playing thread last week when I said their album Masstaden was a better Meshuggah record than Koloss (I was half-kidding, I did like Masstaden more than Koloss, but they don't sound that much like Meshuggah. They are the only band I can understand where the Meshuggah comparison comes from, but they only somewhat sound like Meshuggah. Clearly they both have palm-muted guitars, a focus on groove, and both hail from Sweden, but that really where the similarities stop.. Vildhjarta is way more ambient than Meshuggah and Meshuggah is without a doubt heavier than Vildhjarta (I have a feeling you are already fully aware of that though;) )

Natrlhi
05-16-2012, 07:59 AM
Yeah, your description pretty much fits the impression I got when I listened to them.

They are the only band so far that someone said sounds like Meshuggah, that actually does (to some extent).
