Just look at some of these album of the year lists they've done from the 80's (their "prime")

Kerrang! Albums Of The Year 1985

1. Bryan Adams - Reckless
2. Kate Bush - Hounds Of Love
(do you really need to see anything after this)?

Not a single Iron Maiden, Metallica or Mercyful Fate album among this tripe. Meanwhile Prince is #2 (I have nothing against Purple Rain...but this is supposed to a metal list!), and you also have John Mellancamp, Aldo Nova, and Jim Dandy? Bullshit. I realize that the rock/metal lines were more blurred in the 80's, but Allah shitty dick wiping Muhammed have some standards! Any credibility this piss rag had clearly died with the end of the NWOBHM.

Meh. I ignore everything they do, or have ever done. Same goes for Metal Hammer.

Mercyful Fate

They didn't like Mercyful Fate and were a key component in spreading shit about their Satanism and whatnot. That's why live King dedicated Nuns Have No Fun to Malcolm Dome from Kerrang.

Haha that funny looking guy who was in the VH1 metal specials?

I thought the same thing the other day, when I saw that this years list had Linkin Park at 19 and Electric Wizard at 20. Also, Death Magnetic was #1 in 2008. That is all.

I used to get Kerrang from my local record shop back in the mid to late 80's.

It was my favorite metal mag.

Sure it had some fluff but it had good album and concert reviews. I had to get my metal news and review fix from somewhere, pre-internet.

The only metal mag I kinda like is decibel. Revolver is the worst.

I wouldn't have so much of a problem with the fluff if they weren't missing some key albums. For instance Piece of Mind- I've gone on record saying that its definitely the most overrated of Maiden's classic albums, but I'd still have it for the top 10 albums of 1983.

Terrorizer is a good magazine I think. Better than most of them I'd say.

There is no reason for NOTB to be any lower than 1. And where the fuck is Venom's Black Metal or Manowar's Battle Hymns?

The_jman

I don't know either of those... however my point was, that the list could have been worse for a mainstream magazine. for maiden to be there at all when they're no where near mainstream metal, or weren't then, with no radio play that often...

I always defend Nirvana, but Bleach isn't that good, and I'm pretty sure no one outside of Seattle listened to it until after they got big. So they're either inflating their "indie cred" or they're dipshits who think Nevermind was their first album.

No KISS?

They actually adressed it by saying something to the effect of "while the songs are there, the songs didn't come to life until Alive! and that the production kills it"

Actually a true statement IMO but to deny songs like Deuce, Cold Gin, Strutter, Black Diamond and so on doesn't make the album one of the 150 best debut albums of all time is just stupid.

But "Love Theme From KISS" is shit so maybe that's why it didn't make it

There are at least 3 songs on Appetite for Destruction that are shit and it still made it.
