Looking forward to new Rotten Sound, Haemorrhage, and Pig Destroyer. Also hoping Gadget gets a new one out this year too. Seems like Dismember may be due for a new one as well, not to mention a U.S. tour!

I never know this early. I just have to keep my ear to the ground all year and constantly get surprised.

Off the top of my head, though, new ones from Rush, Symphony X, and Grayceon will hopefully be good.

This is from the show I was at. The material is sounding great, and Arthur's been keeping us updated on writing improvements for a very long time. I'm getting a little bit anxious. We were hoping it'd be out by now.

Dream Theater
Nightwish
Symphony X (i've been meaning to get more into them maybe that'll be a new years resolution of mine:D)

For those of us looking forward to a new Rush album don't get your hopes up at all. Unless they finished writting and recording it right after their tour was done this summer, I don't see how they come out with it before the end 2011 after adding on more dates for the spring and summer next year. This isn't the 1980s anymore, Rush doesn't do tour, record/release new album and tour more every year like they did then.

The early half of 2012 is what i'm thinking about for the new release if they decide to do it.

Most looking forward to new Testament, Machine Head, Trivium, Lamb of God (It will land 2011, third quarter, mark my words) and then after that just keeping my ear to the ground for most other stuff. In terms of death metal, I plan on finishing back catalogues by most of the bands I favour, so the new releases aren't really getting my blood pumping, new Autopsy and Gojira will be sweet though.

Lol. He just used "legitimate" and "wikipedia" in the same sentence.

That has reminded me of the new ones from U.D.O., Crowbar and Artillery though.

And the Wino album is already out in Europe. Came out in October. I suspect most of those dates are therefore US.

Unless Rush immediately finnished writting the new album and went into the studio to record it after their tour ended last summer there's no way the new one is out before 2012. The dates they added for the spring and summer this year pretty much comfirms that.

Aside from Brent's live antics (which I have yet to witness - he has been fine whenever I've seen them), I have a long way to go before I start hatin' on Mastodon...and I thought you were definitely a much bigger fanboy than me. I've seen 'em three times and Brent's been awful each time, so yeah, I have some biases against them based on that.

But while I keep revisiting Remission and Leviathan (and Blood Mountain to a slightly lesser degree) time and again and keep getting knocked down the same way I did when I first heard them, Crack the Skye barely cracks my rotation anymore. It made 8th on my list at the end of 2009, but if I had to remake that list it wouldn't sniff the top ten.

Still hoping for the best for their next one, though, even if I opt not to see them live.

On Mastodon's live performances, I totally regained faith about their shows after seeing them with Alice In Chains. Brent was awesome. He played everything perfectly and he didn't act like a bitchy diva.

On the new record, I am extremely curious to see what direction they go in. Will they keep up the proggy space atmosphere of Crack The Skye or go back to their older sound. Either way i'm elated about the news of a new record.

Mastodon has yet to make a bad album to me.....I thought Crack The Skye was excellent in its own right.

BTW, a wise man once said, "he who expects to be disappointed, usually finds what he is looking for" (or something like that).

My version of that is "he who expects bad things can only be pleasantly surprised" ;)

I heard that, but I wasn't sure if it would be delayed, since they have to find a new drummer.
