Its a toss up, both are gonna be good. Not a fan of newer In Flames and newer Trivium... so I'd probably hit up Unearth. Whatever.

They're one of the few deathcore bands I like, yet they were absolutely horrific at summer slaughter.

All Shall Perish sucks live? That is disappointing. Not gonna lie, first time I saw Suicide Silence, they were good. Second time was horrible. Overall they are a terrible band, and it sucks I have to sit through them to see Unearth, who kicks ass. And i've never listened to Red Fang.

Eitherway..
I HATE 21+ shows...
I missed Destroyer 666 that way :bouville:

Honestly dude, don't base your opinion on us. Unless the band in question has a reputation for being shitty live, anything goes. Tons of people on here think suicide silence sucks live, I thought they were pretty damn impressive, to tell you the truth.

And treghet, it's amazing how many things we see eye to eye on

I'm so gutted they are playing a 21+ show here. It would make this the best year ever by seeing TWDY, EITS, Mogwai and Godspeed You! Black Emperor.

I might actually just chill outside the venue. Actually. :eyes:

I wish I could see Mogwai. The dates just aren't gonna work out for me. If I could see them it would probably be the best year for me.

Just try and get a fake. Or, take your chances and try to make it in the venue with the ID you have. I've had guys misread mine and not put x's on my hands before. For smaller shows, like TWDY, if you get there really early they might not even have anyone at the door. It just depends on the venue. I went to a 21+ show for a local band not too long ago and walked right in. They had a guy walk around about an hour later checking ID's and collecting money. I easily could've avoided him by going to the bathroom. Sometimes you can get by these things if you play it right; it just depends on how the venue works.

I know a guy who probably could get me a fake, but it'd be expensive. I would use it ALL the time until it gets taken away.

I've been waiting for the right show, maybe I'll do it.

It's all about weighing the opportunity costs.

If it gets you into a few shows you otherwise wouldn't be able to get into (TWDY being just one of them), it'll be well worth the money.

I'm assuming Cormorant plays 21+ shows... yeah... that would make it even more worth it.

Well, the truth is I would pay price gouged amounts to see TWDY, so it's not the cost that bothers me, it's the illegality of it.

I would hate to get the venue in trouble because I just had to see a band.

Any other shows in the area would be a huge bonus as well.

Isn't there a higher chance of you getting in trouble than the venue? If you actually get caught, it'll probably be a low fine, and possibly a misdemeanor? Not really sure on the legal aspect of it. Most guys carding at a venue, especially when the venue is a bar, aren't going to spot a fake as long as it looks halfway legit. I probably wouldn't worry about it too much.

I'm definitely feeling the In Flames show. Since I plan on going to Mayhem in OKC, seeing SS on consecutive days would ruin my "needing atleast a week breather" towards deathcore that I learned the hard way from seeing JFAC twice in a three day period.

I can't imagine being 20 yrs old and still not able to legally drink. 19 (legal age in BC) is even weird.

I missed a lot of cool tours due to age restrictions when I was around 15-16, but there's a new venue here that has a liquor license with all-ages still allowed inside. It was made with the sole intent of hosting metal shows so now most tours head there. Located in the worst area of all of Canada but I'm pretty thankful for it.

In the room where The Riot Room has shows, one wall is a bunch of windows that looks out into the street. I stood there, and since I was outside, the sound was really clear, like I had a pair of earplugs in if I was inside.

LOL, thanks Man. I doubt it will get as many hits as my Korn-Oildale vid did. I randomly got linked to Spin Magazine's website last year, and there it was. The shitty thing about this vid, is as soon as ASP ended their set, those people whose heads are in the way left. The Kataklysm vid came out a lot better, which sucked for me as I was there mostly for ASP. As a side note, I really like the new ASP song.

Illuminatus, I understand where you're coming from. The thing is though, I film just as a hobby, I don't make any $ from it (there have been occasions where bands have paid me to film them, in which case it's their video), so I think it helps. If my vids get more hits, I think it prompts bands (especially newer bands) to think "hey, if we let this guy film, it will get a lot of hits."

tour dates are up, some random info:
-Dethklok is apparently headlining the main stage at the San Bernardino show
-the OK show on August 9th will only have 2 stages(with all 6 bands playing main and Unearth headlining the second stage)

& here's the rundown for the openers on the main stage:
Machine Head
Main Stage: July 9th-July 20th
Extreme Stage: July 22nd- Aug 14th
In Flames
Main Stage: Aug 3rd- Aug 14th
Extreme Stage: July 12th-July 20th
Jager Stage: July 22nd-Aug 2nd
Trivium
Main Stage: July 22nd-Aug 2nd
Jager Stage: July 9th-July 20th, Aug 3rd, Aug 10th- Aug 14th
Testament
Extreme Stage: July 9-July 10th
Hatebreed
Jager Stage: Aug 5th- Aug 7th

Steev

here's another way of looking at it:
MAIN STAGE
Machine Head: July 9th-July 20th
Trivium: July 22nd- Aug 2nd
In Flames: Aug 3rd-Aug 14th
*all 3 bands will appear on Main Aug 9th

Extreme Stage
Testament: July 9th- July 10th
In Flames: July 12th-July 20th
Machine Head: July 22nd- Aug 14th
Unearth: Aug 9th
*on Aug 9th there will be just one side stage with 7 bands

Jager Stage
Trivium: July 9th-July 20th, Aug 3rd, Aug 10th- Aug 14th
In Flames: July 22nd-Aug 2nd

Then, 2010 because 3 Inches of Blood, and a lot of the bands had really fun live shows ie, LoG, Rob Zombie, etc.
2009 is my least favorite because I strongly dislike both headliners, hate Cannibal Corpse, and don't really care for any other of the side stage bands besides TBDM

2008 was the only one I went to. It also had Machine Head, Disurbed and Slipknot, Five Finger Death Punch was there too. Seeing Machine Head and Slipknot made Mayhem 2008 one of the best concerts Ive been to.
2011 has In Flames, Machine head, Megadeth and Disturbed. Is'nt Trivium playing a few dates or did they drop out?
2010 had Shadows Fall, Hatebreed, Lamb Of God and Rob Zombie.
Most of the lineup for 2009 sucked. I don't like alot of death metal or Marilyn Manson.

It's just one of those things. I try to not let vocals interfere with how much I like or dislike a band, but sometimes I can't help it. I dislike most all metalcore and deathcore vocals, for instance, but that's okay because I usually dislike the music too. With bands like Cannibal Corpse it's harder because I like the music. It's really conflicting for me.

I feel this way about Six Feet Under. I love Cannibal Corpse, but Six Feet Under are so boring! They're what Obituary would sound like if you removed the catchy grooves, evil vocals, and dark, rotten atmosphere that makes their music so great, and replaced it with monotonous growls and plodding riffs that go nowhere.

Maiden is booked in Europe for the summer so that left them out awhile ago. Also, King Diamond just had triple bypass surgery last fall, on top of that he had to cancel his 2007 tour because of a heniated disc in his back. It'll be a long while before he even plays one gig, let alone goes out for a full tour.

It's a nice thought to wish that Maiden and King were on this year's Mayhem fest but in reality it just couldn't happen. Disturbed, Dogsmack, Megadeth and Machine Head are on it because they were available and the price was right for them to do it.

I am surprised this tour hasn't been cancelled the way ticket sales are. I have 2 pit tix for July 9th in Devore and really want to see Testament but cannot go. Will sell the pair for $100 ($150 face) if anyone still needs tix. That's almost as low as the lawn tickets.

Also - the $10 promotions last year had a lot to do with generating quick cash up front to make the merger seem more appealing, we may not see them this year.

Still waiting for Livenation to do $10 lawn tickets. Cuz this lineup is shitty as fuck. Machinehead, Red Fang, Kingdom of Sorrow on the sidestages, and Megadeth on the main stage. Worth $10 tops.

I was told by a friend who works at LN that ticket sales are good at most venues and as of a month ago that they were not looking at doing the 10$ tickets this year. Last year they sold 10$ tickets and tickets with VIP Club access as a trial. This year the only tours that receive the 10$ lawn tickets are the ones not selling well. Things can change so who knows, but with only a few weeks before the kick off of the tour I doubt you will see 10$ lawn tickets for Mayhem Festival.

I must say that seeing Red Fang, Unearth, Kingdom of Sorrow, In Flames close up on the second stage with Machine Head and Megadeth from the lawn is easily worth a 40$ lawn ticket in my opinion. I guess it just depends on your musical preference and financial situation...

ijwthstd

Really almost all the seats for my venue are gone.

I had spot checked a few venues a few weeks ago to figure out if Devore was an anomaly. At the time there were still lots of PIT tickets available (not a drop either, but continuously from the on sale date). There weren't too many reserved Orchestras, I don't know if that's because they were sold immedietly or if those were band/promoter holds. The second level before the lawn was totally wide open with not too many seats unavailable. No idea about the lawn as the interactive chart doesn't say how many are available.

Magson13
06-20-2011, 04:40 PM
I saw Megadeth twice last year, both times from the rail, both times playing a full headlining set. So it's really not worth it to see Megadeth play 40-45 minutes, from way back on the lawn.

For the sidestages, I do really want to see Machinehead, Red Fang, and Kingdom of Sorrow. Not too big on Unearth, but they aren't bad, so I'd watch them. The rest is crap. I just can't justify spending over thirty dollars for a ticket to see those four bands, when if they did a club tour together, it'd be around $25. And I'd get a headlining set from Machinehead, instead of the 5-6 song set they'll do at gayhem.

Tour isn't worth it, unless I can get a lawn ticket for ten bucks. Or, pit ticket for thirty. Which both are unlikey, so I'll just sleep all day the day it's here. No skin off my back. And plus, if I don't go, I can continue to say I've never seen suicide silence live. So there's even a positive of not going.

You crazy Bro. I know it sucks to get the same band but have you seen that list of bands or heard most of them? BTS is definitely one of the 5 best Jager bands without a doubt. We got fucking Silvertung who wear guyliner and play 3 chord Godsmack-type shit. Last year we had Saint Diablow who are a total joke too. BTS has a few surprises up their sleeve this year too. I would rather any other band listed, 2 times was too many let alone 4 times, its not like there aren't other bands that could get that slot. They aren't bad but seeing how I've seen them 3 times at Mayhem and still haven't invested anything in them that kinda says it. The whole point of that slot was to expose new bands, not have the same local one play every year just because. I don't see any "suprises" changing this short of free Jager and having someone like God Forbid(who are pretty much there every year) jump on and do their set.

I see your point but Jager is a great company and definitely loyal to the bands that promote them. BTS are very active with Jager and do a great job getting the free swag out to people, making promo videos and staying in touch with the contacts. Plus they drink a shitton of the product also.

In reality they've earned the right to play Jiffy Lube Live which is closer to us but when you're offered to play such a great show you don't question it. It's not like Camden is the most glamorous place to play but I've come to really like the place and terrorizing the town the night before.

I also think the flip side is Camden has become their home away from home. Music is usually better when you're familiar with it and last year people were singing along and seemed to go off during certain songs.

Like I said I'd only pick a few bands over BTS from that list and I'd be willing to bet people in Camden would be throwing shit at the Jiffy Lube Live band.

After some time of thinking, I want Megadeth to have a decent, solid set. I'm actually starting to get frustrated with their inability to produce good setlists. Dave, do what Metallica did this week - take out A Tout Le Monde. Take out Trust. Start playing songs REAL fans want to hear. Some of you say that we shouldn't complain about Metallica switching their sets up - maybe so, but we have all the right to complain about Megadeth acting like stubborn fuckers. Make this tour special for us, please. :finger2:

I just wanna vent on this. Feel free to ignore this if you want...

Staple songs, are staples for a reason. The mainstream fans only come to hear those songs, if they don't hear those songs, they won't go to the shows, there in lies where the bands start to play smaller and smaller clubs because they are not pulling in the crowds that they would without it. Is it really that bad to put up with a song that last 3-7 minutes at a time when you have a set full of songs that you actually do like and appreciate more. Let the mainstream fans have 2-3 songs, you have the rest of the set.

unless of course you are talking about a full mainstream band...then you're fucked.

Well to be fair, people are only talking about A Tout le monde. I'd understand your vent if they were saying "get rid of all of their commercially successful hits from the setlist", but I don't think removing one song from the staples would do much harm or would really stop people from going. No one's asking them to get rid of Holy Wars, Peace Sells, Sweating Bullets (which has been taken out on occasion), and Symphony Destruction. I'm sure if those songs are still in and a Toute Le Monde is taken out, you wouldn't see a huge dwindle in attendance.

And maybe i'm just too young to know, but was Trust really a big song to begin with anyways?

It would be awesome if Megadeth brings back Tornado Of Souls or anything off United Abominations for the Mayhem tour. Very unlikely, especially the latter.

Don't bash me on this one guys, but my opinion is they should keep A Tout Le Monde and Holy Wars...The Punishment Due as permanent staples in every show. Although they usually do that, I have seen A Tout Le Monde cut from a couple setlists recently.

Believe me, I love Godsmack and Disturbed too, considering that I just saw Disturbed live in May. But since Megadeth is a legendary pioneering metal band, they should technically be the final headliner of the night. I don't know why the hell they're not, but they better give Megadeth at least up to an hour of stage time.

Regarding the Disturbed set, all I really have to say is I hope they don't cut their cover of the Genesis song Land Of Confusion from their Mayhem sets. It's awesome live, I have no clue why they cut it out on the Music As A Weapon V tour.
