Before questioning "haven't we had this thread before?" the answer is yes. http://www.metalsetlists.com/showthread.php?t=11087

I don't like Paul Di'Anno. I always thought they should re-record Iron Maiden and Killers with Dickinson.

Bruce is a better singer than Paul, no one is going to argue with you there. But seriously? You think that material would sound better with Bruce singing? Also, you're gonna put that material behind the likes of No Prayer for the Dying and Virtual XI because you don't like Paul? Aaaaugh.

Any song with Bruce Dickinson on vocals is good. Listen to live songs from Iron Maiden and Killers with Bruce on vocals, I will take that over Paul any day.

I don't care at all for his singing either. The songs are good on the first two albums his voice just doesn't do anything for me.

Anyways, here's my rankings:

2. Piece Of Mind
3. Somewhere In Time

Yes and you are an idiot for your opinion.

The only thing that needs to be re-recorded from that era are the guitars from the first album (though its way too late for that unless they manage to figure out the exact tone of Killers).

I think Di'Anno's voice suited the music at the time, which displayed different influences overall, and once Bruce entered the fold, the music changed to suit his vocal style.

In all, Di'Anno era tunes aren't the same with Bruce, and vice versa would be the same.

I'll not rank the :blaze: stuff, because I haven't heard it yet!

1. Powerslave
2. Somewhere In Time
3. Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
4. Brave New World
5. The Number Of The Beast
6. Piece Of Mind
7. The Final Frontier
8. Killers
9. Dance Of Death
10. Iron Maiden
11. A Matter Of Life And Death
12. Fear Of The Dark
13. No Prayer For The Dying

Of course, they're all amazing albums.

3.Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
4.The Number Of The Beast

6.Somewhere In Time
7.Iron Maiden
8.Fear Of The Dark

10.No Prayer For The Dying
11.A Matter Of Life And Death
12.Dance Of Death
13.The Final Frontier
14.The X Factor
15.Virtual XI

Imo, there is a big gap in quailty from the first 7 to the rest of them. The reunion era doesn't do much for me and I absolutley loathe the two records with Blaze on them.

Ugh, I haven't tried to do this since TFF came out.

01.Somewhere In Time
02.Brave New World
03.Powerslave
04.Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
05.Piece of Mind
06.A Matter of Life and Death
07.The Final Frontier
08.Dance of Death
09.Number of the Beast
10.The X Factor
11.Fear of the Dark
12.Killers
13.Virtual XI
14.Iron Maiden
15.No Prayer For the Dying

I didn't put TOO much thought into this. Albums 1-5 are basically in one bracket, 6-10 in another, and then steadily going down from there. One album's specific number is no reason to make a big deal.

Also a few notes:

My general distaste for the first two albums isn't because I don't really like Di'Anno. I don't, but he definitely suited the music at the time. It's just that I just don't care enough for the music itself either way on the whole. Those who know what I listen to most of the time shouldn't be too surprised that I don't really care for the whole punk/metal hybrid thing. A lot of the material is fun live and fun to play, but there's maybe only 5 songs from the first 2 albums combined I really, genuinely like. That being said, Phantom of the Opera is one of my favorite Maiden songs.

I share in the general hate for No Prayer, as shown by my ranking. That being said, I think Fear of the Dark gets a bad rep. If they would've shaved the album down to be this:

01.Be Quick or Be Dead
02.Judas be My Guide
03.Afraid to Shoot Strangers
04.Childhood's End
05.Wasting Love
06.The Fugitive
07.Chains of Misery
08.Fear of the Dark

...I would love it. I think there's some really great and underrated material on the disc, it's just obstructed by 4 of the absolute biggest clunkers Maiden have ever written (From Here to Eternity, Fear is the Key, The Apparition, Weekend Warrior).

I agree. Fear of the dark does get a bad rep when It shouldnt. I love that album. I love wearing my "Fear of the Dark" Shirt in public cause I always get some sort of reaction. For example yesterday I was at the pharmacy picking some stuff up and someone came up to me and commented on my shirt and we started talking about the album for a good 15 minutes while waiting in line.

Not only that but "Wasting Love" is like one of my all time favorite songs ever made....period....It definitely helped me out during hard times. More specifically when my ex girlfriend broke up with me back in summer of 2009 :(

90s Iron Maiden didn't do it for me. With the exception of a few songs, I never cared for the Blaze Bailey albums. I don't hate FOTD an NPFTD like some people. There are, of course great songs on those albums. They just don't stack up to any of the 80s stuff.

I agree with Indestructible in that it would be cool if Maiden re-recorded the first two albums with Bruce. I have a bootleg of when Bruce barely joined the band, and they play almost all the songs on the first two albums, and it sounds great. Twilight Zone, Purgatory, and others all sounded cool with Bruce on vocals. I wouldn't rate those albums so low though...
