Been listening to it all night! Such a chill release :light:.

At times I wish they would get as heavy as they were back then but still this is a pretty smooth record. I think "Black Mass" is my favorite song. I love it when doom albums start with a nice and short balls to the wall song, I need to like make a compilation of my favorites.

Hilarious press release for this I found on their Myspace:

Through a haze of ever bleaker dopesmoke, black titans of underground doom, ELECTRIC WIZARD, rise from the unholy grave once again!
With their new LP 'Black Masses' the legendary Dorset bongsmokers delve deeper into the dark world of the occult and narcosatanism. Down, down further into drugs and hate to the sleazy shadowy world of the blackest masses to the true inspiration of the heavy metal art...LUCIFER!!
Yes , ELECTRIC WIZARD, return to the true source of all that is heavy and evil, this is their 'lucifer rising', a mindmelting hallucinogenic nightmare of drug paranoia and misanthropic deathwishes.......all in the name Satan!!!
Riding a black wave of success since the release of 'Witchcult Today' in 2007 ELECTRIC WIZARD have played sold out shows across Europe, Scandinavia, the UK and Japan, thrilling audiences with their incendiary and apocalyptic live performances. Culminating in near iconic status amongst true fanatics and devotees of HEAVY music!!
Some say blessed by the Devil Himself.
And now they offer you their greatest work and bleakest art in unholy thanks!
From the psychedelic swamp of the ravens they summon 8 hymns of pulsating necrodoom, an unbeleivable wizards brew of early acid rock psychedelia, 70s heavy metal and 80s satanic metal, distilled through endless loops of exploitation horror cinema and supersleazy 70s necroporn and , inevitably, chronic habitual drug abuse...effortlessly they weave a web of evil with unholy strands of pure doom metal and deliriously compelling narcopop evil. Designed to ensnare the youth of today as mindless slaves of their addictive drug Doom!!
And all packaged in a revolting eye-searing nightmare of tasteless popart trash!!
The band will perform 4 exclusive dates at Halloween to promote and preview this unholy work and will directly attempt to invoke the forces of evil!! Join us!! Hail satan!!

Awesome! Had no idea they were on Metal Blade in the US.

I've been listening to the album, and it's awesome, of course.

Jus got arrested for possession.

And the band literally broke up over it. They have said they would never come back here, but I'm hoping otherwise.

That's such a fucked up law that if you don't live here and get arrested for possesion, you get banned from here.

Just got released here in the states yesterday :rocker: Picked that shit up and blasting it ever since. Great fucking album sounds waaay better than the rip that came out in November. Easily their best release since Dopethrone, first half is fucking flawless. Heres to hoping that this gets them some more exposure so they can tour in the states again!

Bad ass stuff!

This is a top 10 album for me from last year, and like you said the CD does sound miles better than the rip. I wouldn't say it's better than Witchcult Today though.

Some really good upbeat rockers on this one. Venus in Furs and The Nightchild are deadly. Scorpios Curse has some of the most crushing guitar work for sure.
