If they're doing way too much new stuff, I would volunteer to donate any bay area dates to Kansas.

They're touring the US in the Spring it would appear. One date has already been leaked by Live Nation:

Ooh, this is gonna be a close call. If a close date takes place before May 10th or so, I'm there. After, I'll be in London. Maybe they'll do Europe right after in which case I'll catch them over there. Very anxious for the announcement now, more than I already was.

I can honestly say I don't care because they are not coming to Minnesota, and I can afford the drive to Chicago. So, I'm happy for anyone seeing them, but once again I'll be missing out.

We have no proof that they won't FINALLY announce an MN. date. It's still highly unlikely though.

They haven't been here in 10 years. You tell me how possible it is they will be here next year?

The current rumor on the IMBB is that Maiden are taking the plane on the spring tour and there will only be one or two U.S. dates. Then they will do a summer tour of the U.S. like they did this year.

Yeah, the globe showing the Pacific is a dead giveaway of where this one is going. I hope I get a date again, I'll go no matter what they play and enjoy myself. Hopefully they'll change the setlists for these new dates and we'll be able to get an idea of what they'll play.

They are touring Europe in June and July. Only four dates announced so far, all in Scandinavia.

Define "this region," because Chicago can't be THAT far from anywhere in Missouri.

My bad, should have defined it better. For me I am damn near as SW MO as possible. KC is only like 2.5 hours or so and STL is 4.5-5 hours and I believe for me STL would only be like the halfway point. I would love to see Maiden but I don't think I would want to be able to do 10+ hours just to see them. I will continue to "try" to not give up by this point.

Now, here's something interesting. Maiden played Michigan on the AMOLAD tour, skipped it on the SBIT tour, then played it again on this year's tour. So maybe, just maybe, they will in fact come here. Anything is possible.

Basically, no. I think since then the ONLY London show they've played is Twickenham Stadium, which is barely in London, a bitch to travel to/from and, well, it's a stadium, so a waste of time watching a gig in.

Other than that I think it's Download twice and Sonisphere once.

They just don't tour England properly at all anymore and haven't since Dance of Death. They long ago took the stance that they'd rather play one-off massive shows instead of doing the awesome runs of consecutive nights in decent venues that everyone loved.

I honestly don't expect to see them live again before they retire.

You would think they would wanna do a solid amount of American dates. Especially if they want TFF to sell decent numbers. Yes, Maiden is still popular but the new album isn't gonna move as many copies here without some kind of tour to support it. Playing one song off it this past summer doesn't count and I doubt really did that much for sales.

The strong rumors right now are that it's gonna be July. I think two dates have leaked that are in mid/late July. Bummer, I was hoping to catch a Euro Maiden gig while I was over there. They should do a German tour this coming fall.:D

They just posted the UK dates a few minutes ago, from ironmaiden.com...
---------------------------------------------
UK Fans! We promised you’d be next and true to our word…here’s the full list of Maiden’s UK Tour dates 2011:
JULY
Wed 20 Scotland, Glasgow SECC
Thu 21 Scotland, Aberdeen AECC P&J Arena
Sat 23 England, Newcastle Metro Radio Arena
Sun 24 England, Sheffield Motorpoint Arena
Wed 27 England, Nottingham Trent FM Arena
Thu 28 England, Manchester MEN Arena
Sun 31 England, Birmingham NIA

AUGUST
Mon 1 Wales, Cardiff CIA Arena
Wed 3 Northern Ireland, Belfast Odyssey
Fri 5 England, London O2 Arena

This will be an extensive 10 city arena tour for the final run of dates on their FINAL FRONTIER WORLD TOUR 2010/11. For the first time in many years, the band will be playing shows across the full length and breadth of the UK, including places they’ve not visited for up to three decades!

Steve Harris comments; “Everything in the Maiden camp has been so full on these last five years or so that we haven't travelled around the UK to play for our home fans for almost that long. These fans supported us by coming to Twickenham Stadium, Reading and Leeds Festivals, Download and more recently Sonisphere so we thought we should get off our backsides and do the travelling this time and get round the country to see them all. We very much look forward to playing all four home countries and a couple of places we haven’t been for a very long time, Aberdeen and Belfast! And playing the O2 gets us as close to the East End of London where Maiden started off than we have been for many a year, probably since the Ruskin Arms! All in all l think this is going to be a very special series of shows and a wonderful way to end this whole world tour.

“We intend to take the full stadium show into the UK arenas and fit everything we possibly can into each venue. The set list will be different to this year’s tour. Of course we will play more songs from the new album and some other recent material, but we intend to include a healthy dose of older fan favourites too for those who haven’t seen us before, plus a spectacular light show and stage set, not forgetting, of course, …Eddie!”

The UK shows will be the culmination of The Final Frontier World Tour, which began in June 2010 with a hugely successful 25 date tour throughout North America, followed by selected European stadium and festival shows, including Knebworth Sonisphere in the UK. As recently announced, early next year Ed Force One will fly the band, crew and equipment 50,000 miles around the World visiting thirteen countries before the band take a short break prior to the extensive European Tour (more announcements soon) of which the UK is the final leg.

As always we hope to facilitate “First To The Barrier” for our fan club members at as many shows as possible, details of these will be announced nearer the time on this website.

There will be an exclusive first ticket pre-sale for Iron Maiden Fan club members, before tickets go on sale to the general public on Saturday November 20th. Please keep checking this website for updates about ticket sales and further information about the special fan club pre-sale.

Well good. It's about fucking time. I will be at the London show, then.

Shame it's going to be a hits + Final Frontier set, by the sounds of it. I would rather they continued the 2010 setlist.

In before setlist for the next leg is this:

01 The Final Frontier
02 El Dorado
03 Wrathchild
04 2 Minutes to Midnight
05 Mother of Mercy
06 Coming Home
07 These Colours Don't Run
08 The Trooper
09 Starblind
10 Brave New World
11 When the Wild Wind Blows
12 Fear of the Dark
13 Iron Maiden
-----------------------------
14 Number of the Beast
15 Run to the Hills
16 Hallowed Be Thy Name
17 Running Free

Maybe with a Seventh Son track as well. I also could see them playing "The Alchemist" live.

I'd be fine with that set, although I'd like to see NOTB swapped for a more interesting classic like The Evil That Men Do. Also, I kind doubt they're gonna do Starblind unfortunately.

Well we both know if they're doing any "hits" besides Hallowed, FOTD, and Iron Maiden, NOTB is gonna be played. Especially if they don't do Run to the Hills or The Trooper either. I think Maiden knows if they don't play at least a few of these songs, most people are gonna flip out. And frankly I don't really expect them to play Starblind. But I can't really tell if it, Isle of Avalon, The Man Who Would Be King, or The Talisman is most likely of the bunch. Obviously of all the long ones, WTWWB is the most likely because Steve wrote it.

Is what I posted a bad setlist while isolated? No, not really. If I had never seen Maiden before, I would be very content with it. but as someone who's seen them 6 times now, it's not very exciting. A 17 song set featuring only 5 songs (all off the new album) that I haven't seen before is not that great to me. Especially since that set I posted is more or less just the skeleton of the last set, with some changes. Boring.
Basically, on album tours anymore, if Maiden doesn't either play most of, or the entire new album, or actually play some old(er) songs they didn't do on the tour before it (or hell, even several tours before it)...

Steve says they'll be taking a short break before the UK tour. Denmark, which is the first date listed after the Florida dates, isn't in the UK and it still says "Plenty more 2011 dates to be announced!" on their tour page so I'm still hopeful for a full NA tour in the period of April 18-June 30.

Honestly, I doubt the promoters want Maiden back before even a year has passed and I'm betting that Rod doesn't want to over-saturate the market. The strong rumor (and one I put a good amount of stock in) is that they will be recreating Maiden England in 2012 and I bet they'll hold of on America until then and have a hugely successful tour, partly because it's old songs and partly because demand to see the band will be higher after two years than after a few months.

Considering it's their HIGHEST charting album in the USA EVER, I think the tour would do great.

All that really means is that a bunch of people went out and bought it the first week of release. It's good for the band but it would mean more if the album was still in the top 40 right now. That means it's steadily selling good numbers on a weekly basis. Almost every band can debut high on the week of release and then you'll see the album disappear rather fast off the charts if the band doesn't tour right away to support it or doesn't have a "hit" to keep the album alive.

JLRedWing13
11-12-2010, 09:25 PM
Seventh Son/SIT classics set > Final Frontier set. It's not even close. I'll gladly wait another year to get a set of their best songs.

Also, they did the same thing with Dance of Death, where they toured America before the album's release and then didn't return for a proper headlining tour. So this isn't unprecedented.

Well, it's official that N.A. won't get a full tour fully supporting the album: http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=149706

I wish I could interview Steve so I could ask him this:
True, you did a N.A. leg for TFF, but that wasn't fully supporting the album. After it being your highest charting album ever, why aren't you doing a full N.A. tour to fully support it?

I would love to hear his answer to that one.

They aren't doing because I doubt a tour supporting TFF will increase the sales of the alum that dramatically. The band is aware of that considering playing all of AMOLAD in the US didn't propell the album sales to anything that great at all.

But the album already sold quite well so they should tour based on that. In fact, since Brave New World, every album has done better than the last.

But the album already sold quite well so they should tour based on that.

It sold decent, 63,000 copies in it's first week isn't bad at all but for a band of Maiden's popularity it should've been more. I think it would've been a wiser decision to wait for the album to be released and then do a fall arena tour in September/October instead. But they decided on the summer tour and i'm not sure how much that helped the album sell. It's better to tour when your new release is available already that way people don't forget about if there's too long of a wait between when you tour and the album release.

And Bruce has said they will do another classics tour after this one, so I believe that the Maiden England thing would be the next logical step.

If that tour happens, absolutely no one in America will care that they didn't play a TFF tour after the album's release.

As we very well know, the tour is around the world in 66 days. If I counted correctly, there are 54 dates total in the tour section and it says "Still more 2011 dates to be announced!" That leaves 12 more dates open for a total of 66. I don't care what anyone says. I'm not giving up total hope that those will be for N.A. because there's EASILY room for 12 dates between April 18 and May 27.
