"Fraccions", a brand new song from SOEN — the project featuring Swedish drummer Martin Lopez (ex-OPETH, AMON AMARTH), bassist Steve DiGiorgio (SADUS, TESTAMENT, DEATH, ICED EARTH), vocalist Joel Ekelöf (WILLOWTREE), and guitarist Kim Platbarzdis — is available for streaming on the band's MySpace page. According to Martin (pictured below), the band's music is "melodic, heavy, intricate and very different than everything else."

SOEN is currently writing material for what is expected to eventually become the group's debut album.

Sounds interesting. I'm not too big on the vocals, they kind of sound like a cross between Mikael from Opeth and Maynard James Keenan. And the music sounds like Tool. The drums are great, also. I'm interested to see what these guys come up with.

Hmm, interested to hear this. Martin Lopez is one of my favorite drummers of all time, I was really sad when his disease made him quit Opeth. Glad he's doing better.

Wow. Vocals are not sitting well with me.

This is Opeth Meets Tool. Musically and Vocally. Not sure if it's my thing yet, but I'm kinda digging it so far.

I'm just happy Martin Lopez is playing music again.

This is decent. Pretty different, but definitely not bad. I'll need to hear more to really judge.
