Scored a pick and setlist from Gary:

Ballad of Leonard and Charls
Beyond the Pale
Iconoclasm
Children of a Worthless God
Piranha
Downfall
Deathamphetamine
Blacklist
War is My Shepard
Toxic Waltz
---
Strike of the Beast?
Bonded by Blood [cut :flame: ]
Good Riddance?

Not actually sure about the last 3, I know they cut BBB (the song), but was too busy fighting off drunkards to remember what the 2 finale songs were.

Got to Jaxx at 8pm, since I didn't want to see the local band Krass Judgement. Fuck that band. Rolled in, watched Bonded by Blood set up. I'm not a fan of the band, but they were pretty solid live, the lead guitarist can shred pretty hard. Certainly a better live band compared to their dull studio efforts. Then Holy Grail. The singer recognized me from Hostile City Deathfest (Destroyer 666 IS the antichrist!), then they set up. Holy Grail was also solid, and very entertaining. The bassist kept giving me weird looks, and the guitarists were really into their performance; jumping off of shit at every opportunity. Malevolent Creation were the best band of the night, but their sound did get a bit stale towards the end.

Exodus. I'm going to catch a ton of flack for this, but Exodus wasn't great. The compounding problems of having pretty awful modern material, and Rob Dukes generally being awful at everything, equals a very mediocre show. The first time I saw Exodus I was pumped to be seeing Kreator, and Exodus was condensed to 45 minutes. This time, they had more time, and just weren't very good. Also the crowd sucked. It seems that whenever a legendary American thrash band comes through, a bunch of drunk idiots decide to ruin everybody's day.

Regardless, Exodus played their songs well, Gary had issues with his wireless system during one song, but it was fixed quickly. Unfortunately, Rob Dukes isn't very good at being a vocalist or entertainer, so Holt and Lee had to pick up the slack. In Exodus' defense, Holt has a pretty commanding stage presence, but it's difficult to be engaging when you're playing riffs with the complexity of modern Exodus. So Exodus played a bunch of bad-decent songs very well, and then cut "Bonded by Blood". Take that as you will.

In hindsight, it was still a good time, lots of headbanging and whatnot, but there have been many better shows. This is one for die-hards only.

They need to play Burn, Hollywood, Burn and Class Dismissed!

Thanks for an honest review. I was on the fence about this show. I'll catch Exodus if they're part of a better lineup some other time.

This was one of the more disappointing shows I've seen at Jaxx. I actually left after Malevolent because I just had no interest in seeing Exodus again. Seems I didn't miss much. The crowd did seem pretty lame, that I agree with completely. I was just happy to see MC finally, and they did not disappoint.

They're closing sets with Good Riddance now.

It seems they may be tired of BBB, because it wasn't in their Ozzfest set either. Sure, it'll be in there if there's time, but I don't think they're as pressured to play it.

wow this review is surprising to me, at the show i went to the setlist was not only a lot better but Exodus was top notch. Rob Dukes was really fuckin cool and was having conversations with the crowd and he seemed like a cool dude. He also sounded a lot better then i thought he would (im not a huge fan of some of his studio stuff or his voice) but he fit the band perfectly, and all the songs they played, new and old sounded wonderful. was the band maybe just having a bad night maybe?

You don't have to like him, but he is not an asshole.

Offstage, I don't know. On stage he definitely is.

This was the closest date of the tour for me. After seeing this set and reading the review, I'm kinda glad I didn't go.

Reading this review reminds me of when I saw Exodus last year.
