Well, anyone can look like an asshole if they have the right expression on their face.

Who?

In that pic they look like the Japanese version of Poison. Someone needs to tell them that look went out 20 years ago.

Seriously, that's their look right now?

No, it's not, don't worry.

Picture is from the late 80s, their (now deceased) guitarist was also into alt-fashion and actually went to design school and stuff. So that's what the "gay" look is all about.

Not that it really matters remotely because their music is gloriously kickass. I'll be going.

Art of life = Awesome.

I'd like to go to the NYC show just to say I saw it, but yeah, not gonna be possible.

Now they look gay in a whole different way.

Wow X-Japan finally tours over here and nowhere near where I could see them. For anyone who doesn't know, they're pretty much as big in Japan as Metallica is here. Maybe even bigger. I love these guys, would totally go see 'em.

What have I learned from this thread? People care WAY too much about image.

I don't want to get into anything, because obviously we disagree about a few things... but my point was just that it really should not matter what a band looks like. A lot of the people posting in this thread have probably never heard them, and are too stubborn to ever do so having seen that image.

I thought they looked kinda silly, having never heard/heard of them. I'd give them a fair listen, seeing as how I listen to plenty of bands that look worse than this.

The Japanese are permitted to look stupid, because they make amazing music. And they're Japanese.
X Japan I've never really listened to.

I'm glad someone else thinks that! The appearance of a band shouldn't matter if you like their music.

I would say a lot of people on this board would genuinely enjoy X Japan.
